#Reposting @empoweredbirthproject because it’s very frustrating to not be able to post my birth work without being banned on social media. Please take a moment to follow the link on @empoweredbirthproject and sign the petition to allow educational birth photos on social media. I’ll leave you with a photo that got me banned for 2 days Xo #epbirthphotog -- This is an example of what i am proposing to @instagram via @nickyjcolaco, Director of Public Policy: the freedom for the birth community to post educational photos of physiological birth, AND the freedom of instagram users to choose whether to view the photos. __ This is not a new concept on this platform. Many other large accounts have been able to post images and videos that are initially blurred like this 👆🏼 and the user must tap the photo to see it. It seems like a common sense solution to me. If @instagram can allow sex, violence, profanity, and shocking medical images on its platform, then it’s about time they allow BIRTH to coexist, declassified as offensive material and available to those who wish to see it! __ Swipe left to simulate what this would be like. At first, the blurred image would show up on your feed. You could either keep scrolling or tap “see photo/video” depending how you feel that day. Then you either go about your day, or the images would be revealed. __ If you would like to see this change take place, SIGN and SHARE my petition via the link in my bio 🔗 we’re almost at 5,000 signatures already! __ Also, leave a respectful comment for @instagram telling them how you feel about this. Go like 👍🏼 all the posts with #IGallowuncensoredbirth so more people see them! We, the users of the platform who give instagram its power and popularity by our daily use, need to speak up!! The only way to change policy is to make our voices and desires heard. __ Also: PSA that i will be posting an uncensored birth photo every day until instagram does something about this. Another senior in our home. 3 down. 1 to go. I thought it would get easier with each one, but it doesn’t. @palma.sofiaa_ has a personality that is totally different from our other 3 kids. She can be stubborn, the most short tempered of them, hilarious, witty...but most of all, she has the kindest heart. She’s our firecracker. Middle child syndrome? To the max!! Some days I think she’s an empath like her mamma. Time is going by much too fast in our home. I still remember when she’d run around with her crusty curls as a toddler, covered in whatever food and grime she’d been playing with. ..broken dirty toenails because she hated shoes. I’ve tried so hard to put my camera down over the years and just take it all in. Every single one of them. But i knew I’d forget, so for the past 20+ years I’ve kept my camera in tow everywhere I go. And i don’t regret it one single bit. Every moment with my kids and my family is what matters most. Thank you, to every family who has entrusted me to photograph their most amazing moments in life and for believing that I can deliver on my promise to capture each beautiful moment that defines you as no other. @the_retreat_ep, thank you for all the amazing births you’ve entrusted me to capture. I have learned and grown SO much because of it. I am eternally grateful to my husband @larryglz for supporting me unconditionally regardless of what my next crazy idea might be. My kids don’t fall behind in my abundance of gratitude either. They help as much as they can, whenever they can without too much complaining (because, c’mon, they’re teenagers! They have much better things to do than to be helping me label and sort through photos or whatever insanity is taking place). My kids and my husband are my rock.
