some of y'all need to stick to defending caitvi and stop defending every aspect of the show when you clearly don't care about the lore. if you just want to acknowledge the show, that's fine, really. but then don't engage in a discussion about the lore??? wtf.

and for the assholes out here who like to throw every insult possible from a side blog, just so you know, a lot of people in "arcane critical" can tell when you don't actually care and you're just here to argue for fun. but sometimes we like to answer you because we get to explore and articulate our thoughts and feel better about disliking a show we once enjoyed. one more thing i definitely dislike about arcane is how...weirdly anti-science it is. maybe it attempted to be talking about the ethical decisions that are involved in scientific progress but instead...

tell me why a disabled man's pursuit to alleviate his suffering is treated as going against the very nature of the universe when his disability is hardly 'natural' (if such a thing exists) but rather caused by the machinations of the upper class of the society he lives. a society that has created many more disabled children and orphans just by how it functions. but ohhhhh magic science bad...don't mess with the order of nature...

Viktor: becomes a mage involuntarily, instantly knows how to heal people, can project his consciousness onto extremely powerful robots, ascends to godhood by the end of the series

Mel: becomes a mage, struggles against one of Viktor’s puppets and needed Jayce to help her, couldn’t have stopped Ambessa (who was going easy on her) without Caitlyn and the Black Rose, is set up to go on a training arc.

So how are ppl accusing Mel of being a Mary Sue but are fine with Viktor’s arc? To be clear I’m not trying to criticize Viktor (although I have my own gripes with his S2 arc) but it's weird to me that ppl can suspend their disbelief for his sudden power upgrade but can't for Mel.

There’s also Jayce designing and making functional Hextech weapons in a few weeks, Jinx getting superhuman abilities from Shimmer, and Ekko inventing time travel in a few days. I mean if you can accept that’s just how things happen in Arcane, I don’t think Mel getting magical powers is bad writing per se.
