My Saturday started off early. My kids are early birds so sleeping in till late has never been an option. After breakfast I got them busy with outdoor activities. We were busy packing again so I needed them to be constructively occupied. After they cleaned the table and had some fun with water play, I set out painting activity outdoors. It was open-ended so they could do whatever they felt and mix any colour they liked. I like them to freely open up their mind and design whatever they feel. My son is only two and a half so painting is more process orientated then product orientated. Although he would name what he created he would obviously not worry how it actually looks. My daughter took to blending colours. One of her creations was a forest. Even though it looked nothing like it, it was everything to her, and that's perfect. After a royal mess of paint, my kids were a mess. My daughter is 6 so she was in charge of cleaning the table, washing the equipment and neatening the area. Teaching her to clean her environment is an important lifeskill that every child needs to learn. The afternoon was spent relaxing and more packing for me. I gave them both Pringle containers and asked them to create something out of it. I am all for recycling and often try and reuse items and reduce waste. My daughter decided to make a bird feeder. After cutting out her design, she asked me to help her with a container for the top to fill water and she filled the bottom with muesli. She then added a stick to the feeder. Her logic was that the birds need something so sit on while they eat the seeds. It all turned out well and our day ended with a little bird watching at sunset. Our day yesterday was focused around getting organized for next year. We visited the complex we will be staying in, and my kids were earner to play in the park for a little while. I had an appointment with the school to purchase my daughters uniforms for next year. I really felt relief to buy it, do alterations if need be and sort out her stationery list as well. She will be starting grade one next year and it took a lot of pressure off me knowing I can wash it and pack it away for next year(one less thing to worry about when I relocate). I also confirmed her stationery and ordered her labels. The year before last, I made my own personalized labels ( scroll down my feed to view it) for her stationery, but this year with moving house I decided to purchase it. A lady by the name of Aarifah(0849978658) from @funkylabels is my area agent. I placed an order with her. You can choose sizes, designs and colours. They have shoe labels, clothing labels(iron on) which is ideal for uniforms, book and subject labels and combo packs. Thank goodness for Spur Restuarants at malls 🤗🤗🤗 I had a few errands to do at the mall and my toddler had sever hunger pains an hour after eating a snack at home. 😫🙄. To my surprise kids eat free on Wednesday so I stopped at Spur(toddlers request) which turned out to be a lot of fun for them. I ordered a Burger with chips and onion rings and for the kids toasted chicken sandwiches with creamed butternut and spinach(my daughters request). The kids released their energy in the play area and got their face painted. As a treat I ordered ice cream to share. The bill for all this came to R89.90. I totally feel I received value for the entertainment food and enjoyment they experienced. At the best part was they were refueled, relaxed and calmer which made shopping so much easier 👍 If you out shopping but looking to spoil the kids, on Wednesday it will really be worth it... I got my daughter involved in these gifting ideas. I wanted her to be part of it to understand the work involved in giving a gift and how the process takes place. Her task was to cut and colour each tag I made. This activity not only created more excitement in her, it also gave her an opportunity to practice her fine motor skills and allowed her to gain experience and creativity.
