All in support of healthy relationships and friendships on tv that show actual drama and issues but the two characters grow from it and become closer raise your hand

Regarding Mon-El

Yes, Mon-El is the cis, white male love interest to the female protagonist.

Yes, Mon-El is problematic. 

Yes, Mon-El still has a lot to learn. 

Yes, Mon-El can be annoying. 

But that doesn’t give you the right to hate on other people, who like him as a character. 

It also doesn’t give you the right to send hate to the cast, because they refuse to make your ship canon. 

What people also refuse to see: 

- Mon-El is from another planet with different values than earth (and krytpon)

- Mon-El doesn’t take away Kara’s worth and strength as a hero. 

- Mon-El has never been in a relationship. And neither has Kara. Both don’t know what to do and how to support the other. 

- Mon-El acknowledges his past and tries to change for the better. 

- Mon-El also acknowledges that his home planets system is highly problematic and needs to change. 

Mon-El is far from perfect at the end of Season 2 and still has a lot to learn, before he can become the hero Kara sees in him. 

Kara might be the female hero of the show, but that doesn’t make her flawless. She is flawed and still has a lot to learn. She has prejudices towards Daxamites and sets Mon-El too high on a pedestal. People who say that Mon-El is arrogant, refuse to see and / or acknowledge Kara’s arrogance. Kara and Mon-El are both flawed, but they’re willing to be better and try to be the hero National City deserves. 

Please keep all of this in mind, before you harass people who ship Karamel and like Mon-El. 

But people should be able to discuss the flaws of their favourite characters and acknowledge that people have different opinions and that they’re allowed to dislike a character, too. 

But no one should take fictional characters so serious to send hate towards other fans!

You make it look so easy, to do the right thing that you wouldn’t even guess that it’s that hard. But it’s hard. You sacrifice a lot for everyone else and I know I’m beginning to sound like a broken record here but I admire you.
