“I asked the leaf whether it was scared because it was autumn and the other leaves were falling. The leaf told me, “No. During the whole spring and summer I was very alive. I worked hard and helped nourish the tree, and much of me is in the tree. Please do not say that I am just this form, because the form of leaf is only a tiny part of me. I am the whole tree. I know that I am already inside the tree, and when I go back to the soil, I will continue to nourish the tree. That’s why I do not worry. As I leave this branch and float to the ground, I will wave to the tree and tell her, ‘I will see you again very soon.”

"As to the roaming of sages, They move in utter emptiness, Let their minds meander in the great nothingness; They run beyond convention And go through where there is no gateway. They listen to the soundless And look at the formless, They are not constrained by society. And not bound to its custom."
- Lao-Tzu

“What we call our destiny is truly our character and that character can be altered. The knowledge that we are responsible for our actions and attitudes does not need to be discouraging, because it also means that we are free to change this destiny.”

"A sign which almost always accompanies the decadence of an aristocracy is the invasion of humanitarian sentiments and delicate ‘sob-stories’ that render it incapable of defending its position. We must not confuse violence and force. Violence usually accompanies weakness. We can observe individuals and classes, who, having lost the force to maintain themselves in power, become more and more odious by resorting to indiscriminate violence. A strong man strikes only when it is absolutely necessary — and then nothing stops him. Trajan was strong but not violent; Caligula was violent but not strong".
Wilfredo Pareto

Alchemical Bestiary ~ 5. Deer
"Often associated with the unicorn, the deer is the symbol of the philosopher's mercury. A plate from Lambsprinck's masterpiece, the Philosopher's Stone, shows us the two animals face to face in an undergrowth. The poem accompanying this Third Figure reveals that the deer symbolizes Mercury (masculine aspect) and spirit ; the unicorn is the Sulfur (feminine aspect) and the soul, while the forest is the Salt and the body."

“If I accept the lowest in me, I lower a seed into the ground of Hell. The seed is invisibly small, but the tree of my life grows from it and conjoins the Below with the Above. At both ends there is fire and blazing embers. The Above is fiery and the Below is fiery. Between the unbearable fires grows your life. You hang between these two poles. In an immeasurably frightening movement the stretched hanging welters up and down.”
— Carl Gustav Jung, “Liber Novus” (The Red Book)
