Who is Your Role Model? - Night Thought

According to Wikipedia, A role model is a person whose behaviour, example, or success is or can be emulated by others, especially by younger people.

Speaking of role models, who is your current role model? Is it one of your Family or relatives? When it comes to young people, they tend to look up to their closest surroundings for inspiration. But it's also common to see someone that don't have any relation with, such as a celebrity, Athletes , influencer and many more!

Now if you ask me, who is my role model? I must say I am very eager to answer the question.

I honestly don’t have a solid answer, like if there one’s life path that I want to copy. But, I may have a more interesting answer for that one. Here it comes!

So, my current role model is Brian Harold May, CBE, PhD, FRAS a.k.a Brian May from the band Queen!

Yes! It’s the same Brian who goes around the world for Queen's tour, as their guitarist. Did you guys know that he has a PhD degree in Astrophysics? Imagine being a music genius who does a world tour but can manage to earn a Doctor in Astrophysics.

“Accomplished Astronomy student Brian’s PhD studies were stalled when a musical career superseded. The following four decades have seen Queen amass a staggering list of sales and awards with a catalogue that consistently tops popularity polls and sees Queen remain the most successful albums act in UK chart history. Isn't that amazing? Ugh, I am dying to be as cool as him!

When it comes to the “dream I wish to accomplish” in the future, I can't say I have a concrete answer like “opening a bookstore” or “being a dentist”. There’s too many ideas that come to my mind when we talk about it. Even though I felt anxious about it, being the one who doesn't have a concrete answer on their future life plan, Thinking about Brian May literally lifted my spirit up and banished my worries about the thought!

He proves to us all that we can do more than the society ask us to, we can be successful and have a lot of fans and a lot of upcoming tracks to think about but can still manage to do what we want to do, another thing that we also love doing, such as studying Astrophysics!

Don’t stop doing what you love to do , guys!

Me and My Insecurity - Night Toughts

Have you ever feel like there’s a butterfly in your stomach? I do feel like that when it comes to the terms of friendship, or even my social life in general. Even though this phrase is mainly used to describe a lovely anxious moment, to me , it’s still a form of anxiousness. I was so anxious about what other people may think about me. So, I often ended up not doing anything at all because all I did was just think. I spent too many times thinking of the possibilities that might happen if I do A or B and so on.

But what if it’s not that complicated? Maybe it’s just about the art of being yourself. Maybe it’s never about them, its never about what’s on their head, what they think about, what they see in you. Maybe it has always been about being true to yourself.

Ever think that if I do that kind of thing, people will recognize me as the weird clown in the group? Well, Screw it. Can’t we just do what we want? Why not think about yourself?

Worry to be normal if you want many friend

Worry about being honest with your own feelings if you want a good friend.

Maybe all you have to do is just go and find somebody who shares the same line of weirdness as you. Who can accept you like the way you accept yourself. Being true and being honest.

Somehow, there must be people out there liking your behavior

and then there's others who don't like you.

Why think about the one who doesn't like you?

Even saints are hated by the demons.

That's life. If there’s someone who loves you, there must be some who doesn’t and vice versa.

You are loved.

Again, if you try to get their attention by pleasing them, I would suggest you not to spend your time by doing that. It simply wouldn’t work

because the one that likes you won't care about it. They already like you anyway.

It goes the same for the others who hate you. Why on earth would they care about what you are up to? Don't they hate you already? They wouldn’t care, would they?

So just be yourself and spark that positive energy outta you!

Remember, that you are loved!

The Mist (2017) - Movie Recs

"The Mist is one of the most disappointing series of the summer. I had great hopes for this adaptation of the classic Stephen King story, but unfortunately, it didn't meet any of my expectations"

According to some Rotten Tomatoes critics, this show is categorized as above, do you really think so?

The Mist (2017) is a serial based on the classic Stephen King’s horror novel with the same title. The Show is about the deadly mysterious fog that suddenly appears around the town that can practically kill you. People on the town have to save their own life and choose the Mall as their safe place.

Okay, so I just finished watching the whole series and I must say that these guys did a good job of making me curious about the storyline, about what's going to happen next and where actually these stories are leading us to. I really can’t stop watching because of curiosity. But to be honest, it really is a 10 episode length of confusion for me. At first, I expected that this show would be thrilling and scary, with that deadly mist outside. After watching the whole show, I think that this show is quite thrilling and has an ok plot, but unfortunately has too much drama for my liking.

In every episode that I watch, I always wonder about what is going on out there? There are plenty of sub-plot that are going round and round along the episodes. I mean, this is supposed to be an adaptation from “The Mist” and it is obvious that The deadly Mist out there is the main character. But in this series, we barely see the presence of the Mist and its profile. Instead, the series put highlights on the lead's personal life.

What I mean by its profile is the whole explanation or description about the Mist. Why is it happening? Where’s the first place that is contaminated with it? Why is it attacking people? Why are there some people who stay long enough inside the mist but are still alive while some of the others die horribly?

That’s probably the question that keeps circling around my head when I watch the series. I really thought that we will finally get some answers along the way if we keep watching, but it remains questionable until the end of season 1. It seems like the cast are too busy with their own personal problems that they forgot about the mist. Even the mist seems a little bored hanging around waiting for something to happen.

Even though there’s many things that remain unanswered, there are a few interesting incidents that happen among the characters and that was quite interesting to watch. Other than that most of it are unexpected jumps and amped-up creepy crawlies, along with a bit of psycho drama that arise between each episode.

Besides that, this show is indeed a hilarious and funny show with a spice of thrilling plot and jump scares that you’d like to watch on a lazy day. Put your expectations down and just enjoy the drama with your pizza and lemonade. Happy watching!

Unorthodox (2020) -Movie Recs

The story of Etsy’s thrilling escape from her life as an Orthodox Jewish woman

This Limited series I watched recently on Netflix is actually based and adapted from one of Deborah Feldman’s masterpiece : “Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots”

The series is about Etsy, a young Orthodox Jewish woman who spends almost all her life living together with the extra-structured Jewish Orthodox community in Williamsburg even though she never felt like she fit in, booked a sudden flight to Berlin, Germany and traveled there without anything but her purse and body! She then met a group of young musicians in Berlin and decided to join them by applying to the same university.

My, Oh my. I am practically a crying mess. I can feel Etsy’s struggle and uneasiness by only watching the movie. Etsy’s struggle is not stopping there. After her escape to Berlin, The community sent her husband along with his cousins to take her back to New York.

There goes the search for Etsy. There are several subplots such as Etsy’s application to the University music to pursue her dreams: singing & performing music in front of people. Also there’s her secret rendezvous with one of the young musicians and her reunion with her mother, who left the community ages ago who now lives happily in Berlin.

What will happen when her abandoned husband and the angry extended family finds out? Will they accept Esty's "unorthodox" life choices?

Even though the subject may not attract everybody, the story is actually universal. The journey in the search of independence, Self-efficacy, finding out our true heart and dreams. It’ll also open a new perspective that we don't know that it’s even existed before.

You can watch this show in your free time. It is a Limited , 4 Parts Tv Shows. If you seek for a meaningful series that at least, while you watch it, teaches you something in the process, but are simply packed so that we are able to understand it easily, this show is perfect for you!

Reply 1988: A Solid Nostalgia - Movie Recs

Reply 1988 is a south Korean drama. This drama gives you a solid 80s South Korean vibe, which i thought were pretty similar with Indonesia in the 90s.

The story is pretty much about a 5 Families that live together in the neighborhood called "Ssamundong" and their routines. These five have been friends since they were little kids, grew up together in the neighborhood. Hurt-touching, comforting slice of life drama.

Dukseon and her family lives in a semi-basement house , which are located under Jung-Hwan's house. Her Father works in a Bank. They may not the richest , But always successfully manage how to be grateful and still likes to helping people in needs, Dukseon herself is very cheery and has a bright personality. She may not the brightest student, but she never failed in brightens people's day.

Jung-Hwan's Family won a lottery 10 years ago, became rich overnight. They bought the nicest house in the neighborhood right after that, because back then, they literally lived in a small room (eat, sleep, and do all the work in one room, that room). They now are (probably) the richest among the others. Even after that, Mr. Kim remain modest (like, literally still loving his "modesty" life, he prefers buying faux bag over the authentic ones, for example).

Sun-Woo is a straight A student, a good person & brother. living across Jung-Hwan House with his mother and little sister. If you want to know how saints looks, please.. Sun Woo is definitely a saint! He is super caring, soft, loving his mother and sister more than anything else in the world , like, oh my god.

Taek is a crazy rich baduk player. Skipped school and choose to focus in baduk. 9/10 always win a competition. Super smart at Baduk games but... he literally a 5 years old toddler in anything that aren't baduk, guys. He's literally still trying to figure out how to cook instant noodles at the age 19....

Dong-Ryong is the hilarious one. He's Comical and hilarious ( no-doubt). But deep down, he's actually hurt. His mom is an insurance agent, She's super busy and barely have time for his only child. He likes to mess around because he wants to get attention from his mom ( which mostly not a good ones)

This shows 8/10 will gives you a solid nostalgic vibes!! Just like the old time. (like being brought and time traveling to the 90s guys!

I already watched this show 5 times. Definitely not regretting every single one of it. make sure you watch as well, HIGHLY RECOMENDED

Guide to : Essentials Career Path in A nutshell

What makes the most sense to you right now for your career development? Since I’m taking a Journalism major in Uni, I really think that the most sense decision I’ve ever thought about ( right now) is being a journalist and a screenwriter. It may sound silly, “you’re a Journalism major, of course you’re going to be a journalist”, but I seriously have many other things in mind when it comes to my job ( I really wanna be in a rock band, you know. I can play the bass or be the front man, but yeah )

And the things I have to do to develop my career will be everything that is related to writing. I can write fiction, children's books, essays, travel and beauty blogs, or maybe write a news/article. Looking forward to it~

What will complement your interests, skill set and the lifestyle that you want to have?

Okay, since I really want to have an extra boujee-parisian-lifestyle, I really have to work my *ss off. I honestly have many interests in things that’ll make money such as building a business, baking, drawing and also writing, but sometimes I just have 0 interest in practicing them. ( I guess i really have to) but for the things that I’m excellent at and don't really need a polish, that’ll be public speaking and it applies for any speaking related matters, like storytelling, and also speech ( If I have the material, too lazy to do the research)

I really want to work in entertainment, being a screenwriter and producing some work there, being a news anchor or PD at a radio maybe? but then if I finally knocked some sense into me, I guess i want to be a lecturer in a university that writes cool scenarios for their drama club and bake when bored

What do you find to be the most compelling thing to explore at this moment in time?

Honestly, figuring out what I want to do with my life. Maybe practicing some of my hobbies that I wish has a relation with my future career,like how digital video and design are supposed to work (whole adobe thingy), how to write an article/novel/blog/essays, coding? The most complicated thing I know on earth, that I wish I could just understand in a blink and also think about what I am going to do if I want to move to france.

The path you choose to follow will help you develop your career and achieve your ideal job. Therefore, it’s important to explore the different approaches available before you begin. In the next step, you will start to look at some of these approaches.

Do you already have an idea of what your ideal job is?

I really think that the idea of an ideal job is something that gives you enough money to live but not really draining you out of energy. I mean, if you’re that busy you never get the fun anymore in those jobs, the money , it has to be worth the energy that you drained, you know.

People often talk about how your passion should be your source of money blah blah blah, but sometimes, we just don't get the fun anymore if everyone pushes us to make enough money for living everytime we do what is called our passion.

I’m thinking about being a teacher with ok money and then do my hobby/dreams as the side hustle ( you know, if i’m not pass out because m’too tired), that’s my ideal job

But if we’re talking about dream jobs? Oh how I just want to be in a rock band and do gigs until the day I die, or maybe marry Damiano David from Maneskin and become a housewife? Yeah, sounds good.

What do you think the path to it looks like?

Before we finally become a lecturer, we have to-at least- have a master degree. So, because it’s 21th century and the school tuition is not cheap, I plan to take a scholarship, and hopefully I can go to europe.

I plan to be the best at uni, not that ambitious, but just to make sure I graduate on time. Until then, I plan to do my best as a uni student, like joining some organisation , doing some internship, and obviously practicing my writing abilities. I plan to find a part time job that is related to journalism ( applying to a magazine/online zine/newspaper) or something like that really, anything ( photographer, make up artist for newbie models) and keep a little amount of money for future me.

After that, I’m going to take a B1 placement test on my german, and then maybe korean/french? And of course, IELTS so i can go to europeeee for my master studies

Ok then after uni, i want to work at a magazine while I’m applying to those scholarship studies. Ok then I got the scholarship, quit the job, went to Europe having my studies and living my best life. Hopefully I will be able to still work there and get my PR maybe? And then do literally what I want. Lecturing maybe, or get a job on some movie production ? become their screenwriter. yeah

Have you previously considered that there might be different approaches to your career path? Or is this a new concept for you?

Yes, and I am super open to it. I’m just going to try my best and the rest is not in my hands. Whatever happens later in the future, that’s what my work pays off, or that’s just what god wants me to have in my life. I’ll accept it with open heart ( hopefully)

Whichever approach you choose to develop your career, these are areas you will need to focus on to see what could be further developed as you build your career.

Now let’s explore five different approaches:

1. Matrix

The matrix approach is about having skill sets in different areas and bringing them together to create a profile that is distinct to you. You may have a variety of interests you want to pursue. With the matrix approach, you can explore how to combine these interests into a role which is unique to you.

For example, someone who would like to study web programming, as well as design, could look to combine these interests and become a web developer for any company or organisation with an online presence.

2. Ladder

The ladder approach is better suited for those who know exactly what career or job role they want. They have a dream job in mind or a dream company they wish to work for, so they’re willing to work their way up the ladder to get there.

For the person that aspires to work in television, that might mean starting out as a runner on set. They may then work their way up to get a role as a director or an executive producer, or whatever that ideal role might be.

3. Entrepreneurial

The entrepreneurial approach is about turning an idea into a business and learning along the way. You apply your current skill set whilst rapidly growing your capacity in all areas of business. It takes a lot of work, patience and courage, but can be deeply rewarding for anyone who finds this path to be of interest.

4. Network

The network approach is geared around building a network of contacts that will be mutually beneficial. For example, if you were at a tech networking event and you met a few founders, this would be a great opportunity for you.

What is key in the network approach is to ensure that you’ve thought through what you can offer someone, so that it’s a mutually beneficial and authentic relationship.

5. Portfolio

Creating a portfolio might be more commonly associated with jobs in photography or graphic design. However, it is both relevant and necessary across many disciplines. Many employers will want and need to have an idea of the type of work you can do, so the portfolio approach is a great way for you to demonstrate your skills.

If someone were looking to build a career in public relations, for example, they would be at an advantage if they had a portfolio of their previous coverage. This highlights not just their contacts but what type of work they are capable of doing.

A portfolio is just as valuable a commodity as your CV, so you should build one in line with the career you are interested in pursuing. It is also a great way to share your work and skills with people beyond a job application. For example, you could add it to your LinkedIn page, website or any other medium.

Summary

Choosing the best approach for your career is an essential component of your lifelong career development. There’s no guidebook or master plan for building your career. You can take a sabbatical, be a stay-at-home parent, or even move down a position.

The important thing to remember is that your approach is your own. If you find that multiple approaches like those mentioned above appeal to you, find a way to combine those to take the right approach for you.

Big Promises , Little Promises

It’d be so sweet if things just stayed the same?

A good memory, a remembrance of someone’s promise to me. So young and  naive. Have an Image in brain to imagine the lovely day with a lovely person that we put interest to. Even though the day and event are actually happened, this memory of us carved on my brain with some hyperbolic effect.

Let see where’s this promise take us shall we? Have talked about big things like an adult do in their thirties. What we’d be doing in the future, with all of our glory. Excellent career, happy life, in our golden age. Are you really going to buy some of that vehicle? .

Then We’ll be heading to Europe! Taiwan also sounds amazing, baby. Been dreaming since 10 to settle there. Oh, in the future. Said that France is fun? ok France is totally ok. Wherever as long as were together.

Knowing the fact that something funny happened, now look where we are now. Just casually switch place. Look who’s finally went abroad. Alone.

Been struggling in some event I had in Europe. Oh, digital class I attended can’t be compared to offline Uni day that you’ll spent.

After being successful as what we’ve talked about,

Would you fulfill your promise, to fly us to America in exchange with a pair of Onitsuka Tiger shoes?

Future Parisienne - Fic

"Spill it out. Why am I here?" Alice closed her jacket trying to keep herself warm in their cold tent. She was just about to go to sleep when a flying piece of paper came to her.

Alice and her friends are currently on the lake, camping. The Event is annual, they always camp beside the lake every summer.

It was from Otniel, saying that She had to hurry up to their tent and that it was important. Alice thought someone was dying or got bitten by a crocodile and didn't bother to change. She then ran to Otniel Tent. There she was, standing there wearing a flightman jacket trying to figure out what was happening.

"I don't have a whole night," Alice said

"We will need a bit more than that." Otniel stood up from the bed.

“Why am I here, Otniel?”

"I wanted to talk about something with you." Otniel then manages to invite her into his tent.

“Come on in, you must be freezing”

Alice looked around the Tent "Where is Blaise? Is he alright?" Noticing her missing friends.

"Don't worry about him” “Here, drink this. Hot Tea”

“Thank You" Alice then sips the Tea.

"Remind me why am I here again?” "If you don't tell me what's going on I'm going back”

Otniel grinned and smile while he said

“If I’m about to give you one of these things, which one will you choose?”

Alice’s heartbeat fastens. Is Otniel going to give her a present? But on what occasion? It’s not her birthday yet. Also, Alice has always put some kind of liking towards Otniel. But that remains secret until now. Or at least that's what she thought.

Otniel then proceeds to bring out two small boxes, decorated with velvety skin. When he opens the boxes, it shows two different things. The one inside the lilac box is a pair of beautiful black colored shiny amethyst earrings and inside the orange one is a white accented bracelet.

“Bahaha, what are these?” “Are you going to marry somebody? These two are worth more than your apartment, how’d you manage to pay them” Alice scoffs, while smiling.

“It indeed costs more than one month's payment for my apartment, now choose”

“I’ll go for a lilac box because it’s my favorite color” Alice answered

“I thought you like orange too?” Otniel Pouts

Alice was smiling, but inside her heart, she couldn't handle it anymore. Being alone with Otniel while he’s being so dense about her feelings towards him. Talked to her as if it was nothing.

“Are we done? Can I go back?” Alice stood up from her position and is ready to leave until Otniel grab her hands

“I’m going to Paris, my flight is tomorrow night”

“You what?”

“I sold my apartment, this.. Is for you, take them so you can remember me. You’re my very best friend anyway”

Alice's heart stops as he talks. Otniel is going to leave the town? Why so sudden? Is her heart ready for her crush’s sudden action?

“Just best friend, huh?” Alice huffs and sighs then stares right into Otniel's eyes “I am aware that we are more than that”, Alice then closed her eyes and started to hug Otniel.

Otniel's eyes widened and his movement stopped. He’s practically frozen in place.

“Take the jewelry back, I know you need the money. You don't have to do much for me to remember you. Please stay in touch with me even though you might find a new best friend in there” Alice said while getting herself out of the tent in the process. She then stands in front of Otniel shocked face, dumbfounded

Otniel will leave the town, how can you possibly believe that?

"take good care of yourself. I love you Otniel, Like I always do and I'll always do. Good Night”

Alice head back from Otniel's tent with a tear-stained face and tint of red on her cheeks, while thinks

What did I get myself into?

Otniel will leave the town, along with Alice's feelings.

Day 1 : English in Journalism, Definition of a Journalist

A journalist is someone who collects, writes, records, or in some way distributes news or other current information. A journalist's work is referred to as journalism. A journalist can either work with general issues or specialize in specific areas. However, most journalists specialize, and together with other journalists, produce newspapers or other collections of news that cover many topics. For example, a business journalist covers news within the world of finance, but this journalist may be a part of a news organization that covers many different topics, including science and technology, health, sports, and so on.
