    Heinz hooked his thumb under the edge of his mask, lifting it just enough to comfortably press the tea cup to his lips. He had been graciously served with a fine fruit tea, which he hadn't expected to like so much. He was already on his second tiny tea cup.

    "I hope the others have not been causing any troubles, yes?" He didn't linger on Pyro's face for very long, even though he had already seen it on a few occasions. He was searching for new tells, something to let him know how the team's Pyro felt. 

    Pyro beamed at him, making his attempts at reading them completely pointless. "James said I was way older than he thought, but everyone else has been so nice! And Sasha is making me an ice cream cake!" Heinz found himself smiling at the mention of the Heavy. 

    "Good, good. Such a discovery should be a joyous moment, not something to despair over." He took another sip of the tea, melting at the dance of forest berries on his tongue. He had to ask Pyro where they got this flavour, he wouldn't mind indulging in it after a tough battle. Maybe he would even invite Pyro for a sit down in his lab. Maybe he could persuade Sasha to bring another cake. Just the three of them, some tea, and a cake.

    "I think birthdays seem so fun! I'm so happy I have my own, now!" Pyro didn't stop beaming, even when they brought the tea to their lips. Heinz's gift to him sat on the other side of the table, licking up water from it's tea cup. "Waffle really liked the party too!" The small, freckly pidgeon cooed in response, pulling its beak out of the cup long enough to scrutinise Heinz. Was she still mad he had given her away? She was old enough to be on her own, and Pyro seemed like a good pet owner. The bread thing had lived long enough before it grew soggy, after all. Or was it still alive? Heinz wasn't exactly excited to ask. Or check.

    "Mhm." Heinz was glad that this particular mask hid his eyes. Waffle couldn't see him looking back at her, suspiciously. "That's good, Pyro. That is very good. I had expected a far worse reaction from you."

    "But why!" Pyro giggled, reaching out to pet Waffle on her tiny head. "I finally know more about myself. That's exciting! I finally... I have more of my identity, Heinz. More of who I am. That means something, doesn't it?" He was still staring at Heinz with that big, scarred grin, and those big, round eyes. And Heinz, for all his fear of knowing, for all the idea of identity had gotten in the way of happiness for him, couldn't say anything. What could he say to sway the happy delusions of someone he almost considered a friend? He couldn't remember the last time he himself felt this relaxed, this happy, in his own presence or that of another. Who was he to take that away from Pyro?

    The hint of a smile peeked out from underneath his mask. "That is very good, Pyro. It is exciting, I agree. Now, Why not tell me what you have in mind for next year's birthday celebrations, hmm?"

    "I was thinking BALLOONS, yeah?"
