Something moves. Pebbles skirt across the ground, echoing in the still-standing hollow of the cave. Sound is strange in there, and as the collapsed earth settles, it’s hard to tell if those movements are close or far away. There’s nothing he can see, not an outline or a shape. His world is nothing but the darkest pitch, stuck in this place where light does not reach. Something is in here with him, and he can’t get away. OR: To finish his apprenticeship and become a hunter, Obito has to complete his first solo mission. But things go sideways when he gets trapped in a cave with a vampire.

Obito Week 2025: seal | together | love | any au

For this year's Obito celebration i've decided to illustrate a curious AU idea :3 The detailed description is under the cut in case you want to play a guessing game 😄

So, i think this au was sparked by a discussion of a fic Secrets Stolen From Deep Inside where Tobi "books" Kakashi for a week of intimate fun (and yes Konoha happily sells Kakashi out just like that). Tobi is a gentleman (overwhelmed by his enormous crush on the Copy Nin) who offers Kakashi to spend time together, confessing his feelings to him and generally looking like a creepy but passionate stalker. And Kakashi decides why the hell not! He'll get some lovin' and an opportunity to experiment. The fic ends here. @maireyart and i imagined how this could go further.

What if during this week the masks are cast aside, and Obito's identity is revealed! Kakashi's world is turning upside down, the mental walls are crumbling, but he decides to elope with Obito to somehow influence his plans and save him from himself. The closer they get, the sooner they realize that there's something wrong with Obito. Actually, he registers it himself. He knows how he feels about Kakashi, but as this fantasy of them being together turns into reality, Obito becomes numb; it's like his body is rejecting the budding warmth and intimacy they'd managed to create. The evil genius he is, Obito studies the pattern (yes, he is ironically self-aware in this au xD) and tracks that visceral response. It is most intense when Kakashi albeit carefully challenges Obito's plans and beliefs. When it happens Obito feels like the walls go up around him, the masks creep up onto his face again - anything to shut Kakashi out; he is even repulsed by the idea of being physically close to him, and any implication of intimacy repulses him. All of that is not how he is supposed to feel for the man he truly (he had years to realize it) loves.

Despite his inner struggles, Obito manages to communicate his observations to Kakashi. (yes-yes they do talk! they do listen!) Together they work out a theory about a dark seal that could be affecting Obito from within. After having done more research Kakashi figures out what kind of seal it is and goes on a quest to retrieve an ancient scroll with an instruction on how to get rid of it. He keeps the "save-my-Obito" mission a secret bc of the seal's particular feature - deadly self-preservation. It will manipulate Obito into keeping it safe, and Kakashi doesn't want to fight him or use force. Instead he lures him in an old abandoned temple, a sacred place where even such dark curse temporarily loses its power. And in this temple Obito willingly allows Kakashi to perform a ritual that would destroy the seal on his heart.

The scroll specifies the sigils and the type of ink that must be used to paint the skin. Another condition for the ritual is that the caster can only wear red clothes. Obito is skeptical about this one since clothes never played any part in any jutsu he used in his long criminal experience; however, when Kakashi starts to undress Obito bites his tongue and protests no longer. Kakashi he knows is a stickler, so there's no point arguing with him about it (that and the nudity in the moonlight.) Unfortunately, Kakashi fishes out a scarlet hakama and ends the show (looking gorgeous nonetheless❤️)

Decided to go back and read my all-time favorite The New Recruit because I miss it, and it made me wonder how you’re doing. How goes things?? Hope you’re doing well!

Hellooo ah that’s very sweet to check in, hope you’re well too! I’m doing decently — recovering a little from burnout mixed with general world stress so just trying to take it easy and not push myself too much with work or writing. I also moved back to Australia a few months ago so now am, er, let’s say enjoying, the 38 degree days :p but also happy to be home!

Out of hibernation for a sweet second because I just have to rec the most amazing podcast, @thisweekinfandomhistory, it is SO perfect and hilarious and insightful, V and Emily do an epic job summarising events that happened across the entire history of fandom, literally going back to the 19th century but spending a lot of time in the nostalgic place that was LJ. It’s a joy to listen to all their episodes, even when I don’t know the fandom or when they cover more depressing stuff like fandom wank/bs creators doing bs things. They have perfect takes on everything. Go go go listen <3333
