How to redirect email to different endpoint
c0x0.com allows to have multiple endpoints configured. This is great if you use aliases as primary e-mail contact and you want to sort them to different mailboxes but it is also great when you want to migrate your primary e-mail account to different provider (say from gmail.com to protonmail.com). In this case if you were using c0x0.com for registration - for example in Facebook - you can do it extremely easy - just by updating endpoint! No need to change e-mail address at Facebook. See below how easy is to change where destination email is forwarded:
1. Create New Endpoint in Endpoint menu
Tumblr media
you will be asked to confirm ownership of the e-mail address. Special code will be sent to defined e-mail address.
2. Select alias you want to modify
Tumblr media
3. Modify alias properties at the E-mail section - set your new endpoint as destination for this alias
Tumblr media
Note: to have this option active you need have Two-Factor Authentication enabled in settings.
That’s It! Now mail sent to [email protected] will be forwarded to [email protected].

What makes c0x0.com different from others
You might wonder what’s so special about c0x0.com? First of all aliases created at c0x0.com are not ment to be disposable. Many services offer this kind of addresses for single-use. Our aliases are ment to be used as normal, long-living e-mail addresses used as replacement for your primary e-mail. That define how our service is used. Primary aim of this definition is to protect your email from leaking, being used in marketing and by criminals.
Tumblr media
c0x0.com also is perfect anonymity tool for your e-mail. It works with all e-mail providers and while others can also provide you with alias options you still reveal service you use. When creating alias, you only reveal c0x0.com alias while keeping underlying e-mail address private. That make a lot of a difference.
We also offer unique features, like domain hosting and API access for anyone who want to write own tools for managing aliases.

How e-mail forwarding works
In this post I will brefly explain how c0x0.com forwarding works and why it is so great.
When you create alias, it is randomly generated, hashed and stored in our database. This newly generated alias is tight to your defined endpoint. Endpoint is your target (real) e-mail address where incomming mail is passed. You can have multiple endpoints defined and they can be re-assigned from alias to alias (say you want to pass facebook mail to other e-mail address - you do not have to change e-mail in facebook, just edit alias that is assigned to it).
Every endpoint need to be verified before can be used. This ensures that you own particular e-mail address and prevents spam being sent via our service. This means c0x0.com only sends legitimate mails to it’s customers.
When mail is sent to alias, our servers check where to forward it by looking into database and immediately pass to defined endpoint. Authenticity of mail is checked before it is forwarded, we check: DKIM, DMARC, DANE, DNSSEC and SPF. Also of course our servers encrypt connections in-transit by default using TLS1.3.
Since our servers are additional hop betwen source and destination e-mail, we rewrite SPF headers using SRS. This ensures that mail sent via c0x0.com is authentic. This how it looks in gmail:
Tumblr media
as you can see orginal integrity of the mail remains intact and digital signature remains valid. Whole process can be seen on below diagram:
Tumblr media
It is very important to emphasise that c0x0.com do not store, process or analyze - in any way - incomming e-mails. Mail body is never tracked or accessed and we do not collect any - even statistical information about mail that transits our servers.

Introducing custom aliases
Recently new option was introduced in Create Alias panel: E-Mail Alias:
Tumblr media
It is easy now to create custom e-mail addresses for your hosted domain. New option is perfect in situation when you own domain but you do not have or do not want to have e-mail server attached to it and rather want to forward e-mails to current solution(endpoint). This option is only available for hosted domains.
c0x0.com still produce random, unique addresses by default.

e-mail: your digital identity
Internet is very dynamic place. Everything passes and fades away with time. Services come and go, you bearly can find same services today that were popular 10 years ago. There is one exeption from this: it’s e-mail. Some people foresee quick death to e-mails as we know it - well - they are wrong - in 20-30 years where noboby will know what facebook or google is and when skype will be just a old story, you still be able to securely and reliably send e-mail to everyone on the internet: e-mail is here for good.
Everyone on the internet have e-mail address, that’s why it basicly become internet ID. This is reason why it’s very demanded information. Anyone want to know your e-mail address. It so common to ask you for e-mail that almost anyone will do - it’s impossible to register to any service without valid e-mail address.
Why? Well, e-mail have great values. One is that you can be easly identified by it. When merchandise share or exchange information, their primary key for customers is e-mail address. Every service, seller or store who interop with ad services will sell e-mail address and later will use it to profile regardless if you agreed to it or not. You just loose control of who knows your address. It’s like you would made a copy of ID and pass it to the crowd...
Second, e-mail is used in many occasions as login. This in conjunction with repetable-easy to guess passwords, make it very profitable target for criminals. For example, same e-mail can be used as login to a bank account and to some social media service. When this service is breached, attacker know many things about you already, but also knows your bank login. If you (and you should NOT!) have same password and login to a bank, it makes door wide open for the criminal.
Third, if you use only one, same e-mail address you are easy target for phishing attacks. Phishing is a technique when attacker try to convince you that he or she is your trusted service provider - like bank, UPS, or nerby pizza place...everything to fool you and take your money. How do it work? Let say you frequently order packages using service like UPS. Attacker can create e-mail that looks exacly same as legitimate UPS e-mail and send you fake link with payments, saying that it miss just a penny...problem is that link can be fake payment site that steal all the money or install malware that can do bad things with your computer - leading eventually to loose more then just a money....
How c0x0.com can help remedy this issues? How unique non-trackable e-mail alias can protect your identity in all above instances?
Anonymous, indistinguishable e-mail address is a key to protect your identity. Shops, merchandises, services like facebook, instagram, etc do not need to know your real e-mail address! In fact you should never give your true e-mail address to anyone but your friends or people you know or intentionaly want to exchange e-mail messages. For any other purpose use unique random aliases...
Using random e-mail alias can protect your account security by not revealing easy to guess usernames. Major part of all online attacks on accounts are driven by social engineering where knowing e-mail address is a key part of the attack. It is known that some services can reset password or give access to critical accounts just by asking for your e-mail addres and home addres... this is very bad. Now imagine you use unique, random e-mail address - it’s simply impossible to guess. Infact most of the services during problems with your account - will ask you for e-mail address. This is very important to have it unique and unique per-service.
When you use random e-mail alias as contact address you are sure that only bank know that e-mail address. You know that legitimate e-mail correspondence will be always send to that unique alias that is impossible to guess. That way when someone try to send you phishing using any other address - you immediately can spot fraudulent correspondence. You can use filters to mark all messages sent to particular random alias as trusted and discard any others as fakes...
