Ohh remember the au we once came up with? Laurent as the champion skier and Damen as the substitute sports reporter with no clue about winter sports, who accidentally insults Laurent during the interview leading to a giant fight on live tv. But later they end up investigating a drug scandal scheme by the uncle together all while Laurent is having mental breakdowns about how he will support Augustes medical bills if his uncle succeeds :))

Ok, so formula 1 lamen sounds fantastic. But what about figure skating Laurent and hockey Damen? (or reversed) What then?? :))) Anyway, your blog is amazing!!

It’s a cute concept! I also think there are a few fics with it already? The idea of figure skater!Damen (partnering with Jokaste who then proceeds to ditch him for Kastor just before the Olympics maybe?) and retired-figure-skater-turned-hockey-player Laurent stepping in sounds like a fun one.

In general I actually really like sports AUs haha, so I think they’re all great. 

That being said, I come from a country where winter sports is a REALLY BIG DEAL and the Winter Olympics almost a national holiday. However, skating has never really gathered much interest here and as such I’m always a tiny bit sad about how winter sports AUs in fandom only ever are about skating xD 

So what I’m saying is that yes, figure skater x hockey player is a great trope. But have you imagined Damen from the southernmost point of Greece freezing his balls off from standing in the track and supporting his biathlon star boyfriend? Or Auguste breaking his neck in an attempt to beat Damen’s time during a downhill championship, much to the horror of 13 year old Laurent watching from the sidelines. For sports rivalry there’s also slalom Laurent vs snowboarder Damen, playing it nasty in the funpark and drunkenly making out at the afterski party.

Hi! Sorry to bother you but you said I could ask you if I had questions and I have one already 😅 I'm already bracing myself for the worst but I know there's rape happening. Is Damen going to get raped? By Laurent? I just want to know what I'm getting into 😅 I started reading and Damen just got whipped for the first time

Hey! I’m so sorry I didn’t answer earlier, I didn’t get a notification... If you haven’t read on yet, no Damen will not get raped by Laurent directly. He is forced into one relatively short sexual act he does not want and while Laurent does nothing to prevent it and more or less encourages it, he is not the one actively doing or initiating it. But if I remember correctly this takes place before the whipping scene which means you have already handled the worst!

Let me just add to this that I did the unspeakable and spoiled myself before I read the book. I coincidentally stumbled upon Laurent’s wiki page and his character was so intriguing I ended up reading the books some time later. I had definitely caught the words ‚abuse‘ and ‚uncle‘ while skimming the wiki yet when I first read book 1 I was super reluctant to believe the regent was the uncle in question. The court scene was what finally convinced me that I hadn’t misread anything but if I were to guess I wouldn’t have realised anything at all if I hadn’t spoiled myself. It’s amazing how pacat managed to completely switch the roles the regent and Laurent occupy in the narrative for both, Damen and the reader

The „brown one“ is actually more inspired by Greek people and Australian natives, the author herself has heritage there. He is often drawn w darker skin color but actually described as having olive skin. The actual relationship does not take place when one of the characters is enslaved. The light skinned man is against slavery, the POC nation is the one that keeps slaves (in the beginning) regardless of their nationality. The slavery itself is the result of personal revenge against the enslaved man since he killed his brother. It’s a whole story arc that the supporter of slavery gets rid of it in his country after experiencing it first hand. Yes the books feature dark and uncomfortable topic. But they are in no way romanticised or getting approved by the main characters in the story. The first book is way more darker than the following ones btw. The featured art work depicts scenes from later books or after canon and are compatible with their depiction in the book. You are obviously allowed to have your own opinion and to dislike the story. But I really don’t see the need to attack people for creating art work of things they like. I get why Capri is considered controversial but those books get too much hate from people who have only skimmed the first book or not read the series at all. Have a lovely day :)
