Played the demo, I am really intrigued by your concept and the first part of the demo. I am really looking forward to the next part to properly meet the rest of the crew, please take your time and I'll be waiting.
That's so sweet to say, thank you so much! Hopefully I'll have some more bits out soon xx

love the demo!! i went in only really remembering some of the crew and so i was like "woah... the made of many parts was Literal... 👀🧡👀🧡👀🧡👀"
i have a question, what are the songs? i couldn't find that info in the demo if it was there, and that first song when the game starts is haunting me
I'm glad you liked it! I really want that to be one of the central themes that The Project goes through throughout the story And hopefully I can write it well enough that that struggle is never completely forgotten.
The two songs used in the demo are composed by Calvin Clavier, they're called Faded and Song from a Secret Garden. He's graciously allowed a lot of his music to be used under a Creative Commons licence and though he doesn't require a credit for his work being used in projects, I will of course be adding it to the about section available in the title screen before the first chapter is released!

I love everything about the game so far and I love how much thought and effort and Lore has gone into this, but I am wondering what happened to the catboy
Thank you so much for saying that! Catboy was too similar to what I wanted Zephyr to be so I merged them into one character. The sprite is being reused for a character that will be introduced in Act 2. So cat boy is still out there he's just a little different now!

i must know, does Landon ever put mushrooms in their dishes or do they consider it unethical/cannibalistic?
They actually do! A really fun thing about Landon and by extension all Mycellum is that they don't have mouths and don't eat food in the traditional way that people do (which adds a little extra fun to them being the ships cook!) They see the act of eating mushrooms no different than a person eating chicken or fish
Landon goes into a deeper explanation in game once The Project (that's the player) gets to talk to them but Mycellum absorb nutrients the same way that fungal networks do, though with a little fantasy twist. They secrete an enzyme on the surface of their skin-like hyphal walls instead of chewing. Think of it like how a frog absorbs water through their skin to drink it!
There is a fun little bit that I actually coded a few days ago where a few members of the crew are eating together and Landon's one of them. Instead of using a spoon, they kinda just shove their hand into a bowl of food scraps to absorb the nutrients from it... (Wynn thinks it's really gross)

It's with an indescribable amount of joy that I'm happy to announce that the first demo for Carpathian Skies is now out on itch.io for Windows Mac and Linux here!
The demo is relatively short, about the first 15 minutes of gameplay, but I really hope you enjoy it as much as I've had making it. Thanks so much for all the love and support for my little side project!
It's not easy coming into the world as an amalgamation of hundreds of people stitched together, but at least the crew of The Carpathia will be by your side while you learn what it means to be alive

I have been a fan for quite some time and I'm soooooooooo confused as to why you're not more popular. The art you make is so beautiful! I love love love everything you have done so far.
You have a fan for life here. I'll wait literally for eternity for your wonderful and amazing game to come out.
And also, I really admire you because making a visual novel is actually so fucking hard.
(I have experience, but I have failed multiple times over)
So if you feel as though you need a break, please take it!
This is just my love letter to you, a simple way of saying thank you for showing us your amazing progress.
Kisses!
I need you to know that I've been reading this over and over again for the last 30 minutes and crying the entire time. So much for your kind words
I'm flattered that you hold my little project and such high regards, I'll try not to let you down!

Slow and steady progress on Carpathia's backgrounds, I have something planned for the project's room throughout the first act and it's been really fun to map out!

My laptop’s taking a trip to an IT guy to fix some display problems (the screen needs to be completely replaced) so in the meantime here’s the angriest woman in Elsewhere

"We don't need to be obsessed with the line art for Carpathia's backgrounds, its okay for it to be messy and there doesn't need to be that much detail in each individual object"

[A full description of Landon and other aspects of Carpathian Skies can be found on the wiki here!]
Landon wants to understand everything in the universe, but one area in particular tends to mystify them: human nature. Thy feel most at home in the realm of logic and rationality. As a result, they can find themselves baffled by the illogical, irrational ways that feelings and emotions influence people’s behavior – including their own. This doesn’t mean that Landon is unfeeling, they want to offer emotional support to their friends and loved ones, but they don’t necessarily know how as the humans of Elsewhere are very different from their own. Because they can’t decide on the best, most efficient way to offer support, they hold off on doing or saying anything at all. Humans have been a learning curve for them as their mannerisms, expressions, and way of communication are much different than their own.
They would be the human equivalent of moss ff it were not for the fact they're a giant, sentient mushroom. They sit in the shade of a tree and admire the breeze and listen to instead of engaging in conversation. When everything else seems to be falling apart, Landon is a pillar of calmness in even the most stressful situations. They're unsure if this is just the way all of their people are or if this is a trait considered special. They move slowly and shy away from direct sunlight but when the lights are low and music is flowing, they are known to dance with wild abandon. As the strongest member of the crew, Landon is constantly worried about the fragile state of the others since humans do not heal in the same way Mycellum do and live much shorter lives. While the crew of the Carpathia will not see as many moon rises as they will, Landon will do everything and their power to ensure that The Carpathia herself does.
As their people do not speak in traditional words, instead using hums and low whistles, common has been an interesting challenge for them to grasp which they rush towards enthusiastically. When not in the Carpathia's gardens or kitchen, they can be found in the library where the ship's captain teaches them to read.

[A full description of Cirrus and other aspects of Carpathian Skies can be found on the wiki here!]
Cirrus can be mischievous, sarcastic, and unpredictable in his behavior and has been described by others as childish. Despite his seemingly carefree personality, Cirrus can easily become the most serious member of the Carpathia when he decides a situation calls for it. He's normally seen being nonchalant and playful towards his friends and close colleagues However, he's unsympathetic and cruel towards anyone he considers a threat to himself or The Carpathia and her crew.
In tense moments, that string of aloofness leaves him, and he becomes someone else entirely. Cirrus is straight to the point and methodical when there is blood on his hands - whether that be from a patient of his current profession or a victim of his last.
He's always running his own form of tests. Choosing to live his life as one big science experiment where he uses the element of surprise to collect reactions and then form theories about the people around him. Cirrus decided at a young age that he makes a better acquaintance than he does a friend. His enigmatic nature makes him difficult to get close to and even those who have known him for years feel like they know nothing about his personal life. If asked to elaborate on who he is, he would spiral into a speech describing the last research paper he read as a distraction. Cirrus isn't often the one sought out in a nonmedical crisis. He wants to be there to support his friends, but his mind is deflection oriented, so he fumbles over his words for the right thing to say in moments of sincerity.
The root cause of any anger he may have is usually because he feels unjustly blamed, or that his actions have been misconstrued in some way. He's an expert at maintaining the upper hand, and is more likely to deal with upset feelings through sarcasm, condescension, or defensive deflections. Cirrus will push his negative emotions out of view where they eat away at him behind the mask he has carefully crafted.
