Balance Lamp A-B-C Type

Sculptural desk lamps that play with gravity and a bit of simple rocking science.

This family of desk lamps can be extended or retracted by gently rolling them forward or backward. Repositioning the big brass weight on the rocker re-balances the lamp to a new equilibrium. Angle adjustments are made by sliding the upper brass counterweight along the horizontal bar.

Balance lamps are hand-engineered in the North of England out of anodised aluminium, brass, stainless steel, cast iron and hardwoods. They are approximately 46 cm tall and use a standard GU4 12V DC LED bulb and plug-type power supply, available for UK and international power sources.

Balance lamps have been designed to last for generations.

Showtime Nude Chair

The Showtime Nude Chair is simpler than the previous version, but hasn’t lost any of its personality.

They have called it ‘Nude’ as they have taken the essential and added new legs and a more ergonomic backrest. The chair comes with five optional types of legs: wooden, metal, sled, swivel and wheels.

Powder coated steel or aluminium structure. Legs, seat and backrest in plywood with exteriors in natural ash, walnut or ash stained black. Metallic decorative buttons. Seat cushion, interior seat cushion and backrest upholstered in different fabrics or leathers provided by BD.

Proiezioni Dining Table

The patterns created by inlaying different shades of stone evoke the idea of an invisible cinema with shafts of light creating a play of shadows and strong geometric shapes.

While the collection is based on the idea of inlaid stone, we also offer each table in a simpler version, with the top in a single colour paired with legs in a contrasting stone. These tables are not suitable for outdoors.

HUG

The Hug collection is an embrace between the two most famous natural materials: wood and marble.  Notwithstanding completely different features, this two elements are mutually enhanced in a perfect balance.

HUG is the name that unites the two new products in the collection. Conceived as a whole, they can also be purchased individually.

Marble and wood, among the noblest natural materials, are sewn together with a sartorial soul: the solidity and gloss of the stone welcomes the feeling of warmth and serenity of the eucalyptus wood, an unusual material for the bathroom. The veins of the stone approach those of the frisé eucalyptus, a suggestive figured wood, creating two freestanding objects with unrepeatable nuances: elegant and functional furnishing elements characterized by a timeless style, which together give a sense of unity to the bathroom environment.

Housing spaces are incorporated in the design both for the tub and for the sink, either visible or, in the case of the sink, also retractable, which optimizes its use. For the sink, we find an internal compartment too, with a push-pull system concealed. The elegance and linearity of these shapes have been designed to be easily specified in hospitality projects as well as residential environments.

CONSTANTIN

The Constantin collection designed for Colé Italian Design Label  is named after the man who inspired it. Constantin Brancusi’s modern art guided the designer’s hand in the creation of candlesticks and book holders, containers and centrepieces in wood, marble, brass and bronze.

Inspired by the artist’s ability to represent the essence of things in a highly abstract way, Agustina Bottoni decided to shape her candlesticks and book holders thinking of the columns and bases of his famous sculptures. The surface treatment of the fine materials makes them into tactile objects.

Dyhan Chaise Lounge Concept

INSPIRATION:

For most working people, the daily stress of work is a hassle. Sometimes all you want at the end of the day is to relax in a contemplative/meditative environment. Inspired by the form of the Shiva Linga, the Bodhi Tree and Japanese gardens, the idea was to create a space where one's state of mind is at peace. It is quite apparent upon observation that proximity to nature brings about a more relaxing mindset, and I aimed to bring that into the home in a more intimate way, especially for urban dwellers who lack much contact with nature.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

In order to alleviate stress and achieve relaxation and "zen", Dhyan's modularity provides users with 3 environments to choose from: Standard mode (with storage), Garden mode (with side planters) and Water-Pond mode (with waterfall fountain). The design amalgamates eastern philosophies by encouraging solace with the elements of nature. Garden mode surrounds you with plants/trees while Water-Pond mode surrounds you with water and the sound of falling water, which is relaxing and considered good feng shui.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:

The chair can be standalone or connected by a power source to power the USB charger on the tablet and LED lamp, as well as the water pump (pond mode). The lamp and tablet are optional extras, and can be retrofitted. standard mode has extra storage compartments behind and beside the seat.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:

The project is conceptual and took 3 months from idea to what you see now. It started as a sketch as a "shiva-linga"-inspired chair design, and later I discovered there was more potential in its form and spent the next few months refining the idea of the chair as a form of escape from stress.
