Some people think tomarrymort isn't really enemies to lover but prey x predator?????? And basically young Tom will never noticed Harry because he is basic apparently and "just a guy". I wholeheartedly disagree but I want to know what you think?

(ps: it's just how some people treat harry in tomarry fandom is making me sad.)

I think anyone who looks at Harry and ever considers him prey has grossly misunderstood his character and how utterly terrifying he is, was, can, and will always be to Tom in particular.

Don't get me wrong, the power imbalance and gap in skills can be compelling to play with, but Harry was made a threat to Tom by Fate.

Tom himself dictated that this boy would be his equal, and any equal to Voldemort could never be considered anything less than another predator.

It would be funny if ybtm(ibty)!Harry, being the "lord of death", would be able to find out everything about their dead loved ones by touching a people.

just imagine how he scares Leopolda accidentally and very often by giving details about her And Klaus' dead parents.

How he drives Orion into an ecstatic frenzy by talking about his grandfather Corvus Black.

How he once scares Benedict and Cynthia by mentioning a few things about Nathan's biological mother.

And Harry himself does not notice and does not understand what he is saying, he thinks that he is saying something self-evident and well-known to everyone.

It's a cute little ability, - "gift" from death.

A pretty close AU of this already exists in Shifting Shadows - only there's no cheating, since Hadrian is a very loyal dude and he'd never act on an attraction when he's married to someone else. In this one, Raina's completely aware of and even encourages the affair, and finds it both hilarious and intriguing.

I LOVE the way you write Orion in ybtm(ibty), and the most fun bit is that i can 100% see how he’s Sirius’ father. The gremlin genes are strong. Can totally imagine Harry!Nathan as a godfather trying to wrangle Orion’s damned offspring (intense, slightly feral, intrigued by anything Shiny and Odd, and coincidentally also harry’s godfather in another life) and thinking like, “of course Sirius would’ve calmed down with age… I should’ve known… can’t even be shocked…”

Bookstore!Orion would think ybtm!Orion was a Lesser version because he had successfully snagged Harry as godfather to his sons / benevolent God that looked after him and his family, while ybtm!Orion was still scrambling around asking silly questions like ‘why?’ and ‘how?’ instead of accepting the higher being that had tripped into his life.

One of them is clearly winning, here.

there was this one tomarry fic i cant finnd anywhere where harry is brought back in time by a time-traveling spy organization(??) and trained by time spies (who he starts to see as parents) before he goes to hogwarts and meets tom and becomes his? academic/popularity rival? if i remember right? (and has a texan accent for time spy reasons) but the main thing is that he Teaches Tom Kindness or something like that. iirc the woord count was smth around 18k. anyone know what i'm talking about?

Nathan’s hair is straight, and kinda tousled- looking now that Harry’s in his body. I’d say it’s more medium than short, but not long enough to be pulled /pinned up.

Okay I'll raise it. Hermione/Tom? I really find this couple cringe-worthy.

Prefacing this with saying if you do ship Hermione/Tom, absolutely no shade to you, my darlings. Ship to your hearts content! Don’t let some loser on the internet (aka me) impact your enjoyment 😊

Now, onto my personal thoughts on the ship - it’s really the same as my feelings on Draco/Tom. They’re too incompatible in my eyes - emotionally, morally and mentally.

While there’s a lot of surface similarities, once you scrap off that thin layer, they’re far too different to mesh well.

Hermione is too inflexible, and holds to her morals too hard to ever condone or even attempt to understand Tom’s actions or motivations. And Tom is too disgusted by the idea of a lot of things Hermione values to ever think her opinion holds weight.

That’s why I ship tomarry over any other ship for either character.

Because at their core, and more than any other ship I can think of, there is a painful level of understanding and empathy between them. It allows them - even if they don’t agree - to see the world through the other’s eyes. They know each other. They understand the darkness in each other and don’t flinch away from it.

They are the only two who could possibly sway or influence the other in any meaningful way. Harry could make Tom better. Tom could make Harry worse. And that understanding of each other’s past (unloved orphans), emotions (that sense of being unwanted, freakish, other, more than those around them), and deepest desires (to be untouchable, to be safe for one fucking day in their lives) allows them to connect in a way that no one else can manage or come close to.

Hermione and Tom would implode as a couple spectacularly. They’d fail to find any sense of balance or respect. Again, like with what I said about Draco/Tom, unless Tom was manipulating or looking to hurt Hermione by leading her around (and thus getting some savage kind of amusement out of the whole thing), then I don’t think they’d ever go for each other.
