Okay, I know those following me are more inclined to an in-universe narrative where Izzy gets pregnant, but consider the fucking stupidity that can come with a modern context. Specifically that Ed and Stede would be hesitant about Izzy continuing with his personal methods of staying fit (fencing, general gym workouts that frighten men half his age, etc.), and instead suggest - with total sincerity - he look into one of those pregnancy yoga classes, or at the very least consider doing such routines at home.

having slow-rapid pregnancy thoughts

we have a fun, rowdy evening, and i fill you up multiple times. we didn’t use protection, but based on the time of month, it’s probably fine.

(spoilers: it’s not)

later that night, after we drift off to sleep, i have a bleary moment of semi-consciousness. i’m spooning you, hand on your tummy, and i can feel just the slightest unexpected resistance. at first i figure it’s just you breathing, but… i could swear there’s just an almost nonexistent stretch, so subtly rounding you out. i grin and pull you closer before drifting off again.

the next morning, you definitely look bloated, but not unnaturally so. you check it out in the mirror (i check you out in the mirror), we get breakfast, and you leave to go about your day.

you keep looking down at your bulging tummy throughout the morning, expecting it to go down, rather than do the opposite. by lunchtime, you start feeling fluttery movements, and you know something’s wrong.

it’s slow enough that no one can SEE you growing, but you very clearly look pregnant when you obviously weren’t the last time your classmates saw you. i’d guess you’re expanding at a rate of a month of gestation every three hours or so, and you’re definitely carrying more than one.

it certainly doesn’t help that your outfit is about as far from obscuring your figure as your wardrobe can get. when you sit down, you can hear seams stretching ominously.

I’ve been keeping track of my cycle for long enough now that i don’t think twice about letting you fill me up, even begging for it, pleading dumbly for you to breed me while im completely drunk on pleasure.

we both like when you keep your hand on my belly after sex, so of course you notice when i start swelling. im already asleep by then, and you don’t mention it in the morning - you just look at me in the mirror while i check the bloating, before we both move on with our days.

the bloating doesn’t go down. im a little self conscious of how tight my shirt is around it, and my jeans are fairly tight, like always, and if i weren’t in classes i would have them unbuttoned by now. I ignore it the best i can. my stomach isn’t upset or anything, if anything im more hungry than usual, so im having lunch when i start feeling flutters inside me.

i finish eating and rush to the bathroom, unbuttoning my jeans and pulling up my shirt — which feels even tighter than it was before — enough to see how obviously swollen I’ve gotten. i rub my hands over my belly a few times, making sure I’m not imagining it. im not.

i can’t do anything until im done with classes for the day. At least, I try to finish classes. i make it through my next one, but my third and final class of the day is interrupted by the seams of my jeans tearing - and not quietly, either. i go bright red and excuse myself, heading straight home after that.

by the time we’re both home, im five, maybe sixth months along, size-wise — though i look well past full term. im surprised my shirt lasted as long as it did, though the seams on that tear during my commute back home.

we have at least another nine hours left. and, past the concern, im indescribably turned on.

it’s not like i can get any more pregnant if we spend the next nine hours breeding, right?

In a version of events in which Izzy gets pregnant and it is found out early on, he firmly convinces himself that the only reason the crew takes any interest in him is due to the child and their fascination with babies. Only to slowly start to see the ways they care specifically for him and the baby is simply their way in to a man who has built so many walls around himself.

OMG THE DRAMA!! Izzy is just hiding in there, holding Worm as she cries and doing everything he can not to completely fall apart. But he can hear Ed shouting and the crew arguing back, and he starts to silently cry with his daughter because what is he supposed to do now!?

So precious @ritalacochona ! Izzy losing his leg and all that mess and at first being convinced that all the symptoms are a result of his amputation, only to realize the truth. He still holds onto this despite for under baby, so unsure of what to do and even more unsure of how to handle the crew suddenly being so worried about him. And then the night he tries to flee comes and suddenly they’re helping him through a labor he always believed would be private. He’s frantic and panicked and so so ashamed, but the crew is just worried about making sure he and Worm are okay amidst their own terror lol. But they love her so immediately and are so protective of Izzy and his girl. Yet they have no clue how to react to his insistence that Ed and Stede can’t know about it.

Okay, I am obsessed with the breakup of “teams” here. And I just thought of the best scenario in which Ed and Stede find out about Winifred/Worm.

The “teams” are arguing between themselves and it’s getting pretty heated. Like actual yelling. Izzy finally appears, exhausted, healing, and pissed off. He snaps at them in that yell-whisper voice “Shut the fuck up, you’ll wake the baby”.

To which Ed and Stede, having come from their quarters to say the same, thank Izzy for saying something and start to speak to the crew, only to go quiet when they hear crying. Except they’re holding their baby, and he’s sound asleep. Uh-oh. 😬😬

Modern au: Izzy tells Ed that he's pregnant in an argument and Stede shyly tells them that his kids rescue an injured possum.

Okay, I’m lowkey cackling at this because now I’m picturing how things would be leading up to this. Maybe this is into Ed and Stede being together for a while and Izzy’s still not admitted to the pregnancy. Ed has the kids for an extra week after Mary’s flight is delayed, so he asked Ed and Izzy for some help (because to Stede, they’re a package! And even if to his perception, Izzy hates him, the kids love him for some reason??).

They come by and Stede’s made dinner and Izzy feels like shit. He picks at the food while Stede is ravenous and Ed is going on and on about how good a cook he is. Izzy elects to do dishes while the Ed and Stede play with the kids in the garden. Eventually Ed comes back as Izzy is finishing and asks if everything is okay… because Stede told him to ask.

That pushes Izzy over the edge and they start screaming at each other. Izzy is shouting about “how things are going to be”, and how Ed should just move in with his happy family always so Izzy can move on with his life, where Ed is blindsided and talking about how Izzy had been closing himself off for months, that the only time he seems to let in any affection is during sex - and even that has started to fade—

“Of course it has! I don’t want you to touch me, I’m fucking pregnant—“

And suddenly there’s a weird shrill noise, and they look over to see Louis and Alma standing by the open back door with a fucking possum, while Stede is scrambling to catch up to them to keep it out of the house.

Modern au Izzy gets pregnant by Ed as they're in a relationship, he meets Stede who's heavily pregnant but his wife divorced him, giving him full custody of his kids due to her going off to become an artist (she sees the kids on the weekly basis, but didn't want to drag them around the world once she started to become famous). Thoughts?

Okay, I’m obsessed. Mary getting to have almost a role reversal AU in which she gets to adventure off to be an artist and Stede stays with his family, still making an effort to find himself. Ed and Stede would still be so fast to fall in love, and Ed is telling Izzy all about Stede - maybe the two of them have something of an open marriage, even though Izzy kind of wants to be exclusive, even if he won’t tell Ed? - and Izzy is like “wait… what was that last part?”

“He’s a tailor? Oh yeah, it’s crazy’s the shit he knows about fabrics—“

“No, after that.”

“The kids? He’s got two, and he’s getting along with the third one. They’re all really cool. The girl is so sassy, it’s hilarious—“

And Izzy’s mind is just swimming because he was going to tell Ed he was pregnant that night, admit how badly he wanted a baby. But what if Ed didn’t want that, now that he seems fucking obsessed with this Stede guy and his kids? So Izzy elects to find another time to tell him. Though he doesn’t know when that will be…

But the worst part is when Izzy meets Stede. Because as soon as he sees him and the man starts talking, Izzy gets it. He’s charming, he’s honest, he’s charismatic - if a bit stupid. And his kids are great, more than Ed realizes. But the angry, jealous, hateful part of his brain starts to whisper possibilities. That after years of meaningless sex and drunk hookups that meant nothing, this thing with Stede Ed has is different. This feels like the sort of thing Izzy may be left for… And Izzy needs to figure out what the fuck he’s going to do.

One of my favorite small head canons that remains in any iteration in which Izzy gets knocked up is that Archie is way too casual/invasive with her questions, leading Izzy to blowing a damn gasket in a manner that has his partners fretting about his blood pressure.
