Heartbroken (R.I.P., Peeve)

Y’all, I’m absolutely heartbroken. Last Tuesday, Matt and I had to say goodbye to our precious 17-year-old calico, Peeve. She was a little 5-pound cat with a 1000-pound personality, and our home feels so empty without her. Matt and I got her on our one-year wedding anniversary during a weekend trip to the Oregon coat. We hadn’t planned on getting a cat, but as we walked around in that small coastal town, we spotted a pet store and stopped in. I’ve never been a “pet store” kind of person, but when I laid eyes on this tiny little calico cat, she stole my heart and I had to have her. They kept her for us until we were ready to head back home since we couldn’t keep her in the bed and breakfast where we were staying. So on our way out of town, we swung by and picked up our new kitten. And then she proceeded to SCREAM AT THE TOP OF HER LUNGS all the way home — for 90 straight minutes. 😀 Several times during that trip, I looked at Matt with these SCREAMING kitten on my shoulder and asked, “What the heck have we done? Lamp Makeover & Framed Wall-Mount TV Finishing Details

I’m almost at the finish line on this guest bedroom makeover, and I’m focusing on all of the final little finishing touches. I wanted a lamp to go on the dresser, but instead of buying a new one, I decided to use one I already had. It was a cute little lamp, and there was really nothing wrong with it at all. It just seemed a little dull for the room. So I jazzed it up with some new clean white and gold paint and golden yellow fabric for the lamp shade. I had originally purchased this lamp to use in the hallway bathroom, and I used it in there for quite a while. But then when I did the colorful makeover on that bathroom in 2019, it didn’t really go in there anymore, so it went into my stash of extra stuff. So I got it out to use in this room. Many time, I can just tape off different areas of a lamp to paint them. But since this one had that glass section with the interesting shape sitting on the metal base, I didn’t think I could tape it off good enough to get really sharp lines […]

I Think I May Have Been Crazy

I have one more main project to do before the guest bedroom is finished. I still have to sew the draperies. Other than that, it’s just a few touch ups, some accessorizing, and then it’s done! But this past weekend, I was at the point of the project where I was starting to feel like it’ll never be done. Honestly, I’ve been at that point for a couple of weeks now. And when I reach that point in a project, I start to question if I’m ever going to get this house done. And then I start to question what the heck I’ve even accomplished in the first place since we bought this house. Since I live in this house day after day, and I only experience the gradual changes each day, sometimes it’s hard to remember exactly what I started out with. So last night, I took a trip down memory lane to encourage myself, and remember exactly what this house looked like when we signed the papers and were handed the key.
