for a kids franchise, transformers is just... so fucking bleak. their planet is dead. their species is dying. they've been fighting this stupid fucking war for 4 million years and they destroyed everything over it. their planet can no longer support life. their species is dying out as, without the Well, they can no longer reproduce. the few that are left are scattered to the stars as lonely sentinels. its only a matter of time before the current generation dies out and cybertronian life, history, art, love, knowledge, everything is gone. and yet... and YET... they continue to accelerate their own demise by fighting this STUPID FUCKING WAR. they're a species, a people consumed by war. they let their own hatred and violence destroy themselves.

transformers is a tragedy.

Seeing the soulmate post post you reblogged and remembering daisyachain’s breakdown of Drift and Ratchets arcs as characters. ;_; Dratchet is truly seeing the highs and lows of character from the beginning of their journey till who they are now, but more importantly accepting their past and present selves and moving forward. Intrinsically linked from a single event and having an undeniable understanding and influence in each other’s lives going forward.

I appreciate that I'm one of the people called out as someone who understands the core of this ship in the tags of that post hahaha

but YES that exactly was what I was thinking too. And it goes two ways -- not only does Ratchet see Drift for who he is, Drift sees through Ratchet as well. He sees that Ratchet is prone to overworking, that people tend to only turn to Ratchet when they heed something from him, that he feels he's losing his purpose with his hands failing and that he sees the Lost Light as his swan song. And Drift does everything he can to combat that. He saves Ratchet's life on Delphi, and (intentionally or not) gives Ratchet a means to restore his hands. He drags Ratchet out of the medbay and to Maccadam's. He bothers Ratchet just because he wants to be around him, and gives Ratchet a social life outside of his occupation. And it's something that Ratchet himself recognizes, and recognizes how lonely he is without it, when Drift leaves. And it prompts Ratchet to let go of the one thing he was holding onto with a white-knuckled grip, the thing that he'd set up on a pedestal as his purpose in life -- his job as CMO -- and leave it behind for something new, with Drift. He went to go try to bring Drift back to the Lost Light, but he left with the intention that if Drift said no, if he wouldn't return, he'd follow Drift wherever he wanted to go instead. Quite literally, they both turn one another's narrative around.

I usually spend a lot of time editing and fine-tuning my comics so that they come across as polite and inoffensive. This was a whole mood. I literally had all of these thoughts while watching the episodes. Glad I wasn’t the only one who reacted to the show like this.

I also really love OP’s sense of humor- I was in the library (college is fun) reading this and had to cover my mouth numerous times to not bother everyone else.

Can’t wait to hear more about other people’s thoughts on Earthspark!!

Watching Earthspark Eps 11 - 18!

So today was miserable on the Saturday shift so I’m going to be getting gradually absolutely shithouse drunk and watching Earthspark. All of the new episodes!!!  

This is my first look at all of the episodes, so these are my initial takes! 

I have not eaten today as I have been on shift, so I am likely to be genuinely drunk by the end of this, but I am taking actual notes here. 

Commentary as I go below, tagging for spoilers with every tag I know of just in case!
