I also don't like the assertion that Jews are trying to conflate "criticism of Israel with antisemitism/the Israeli state with Jewishness as a whole" because you... YOU... did that first and you do it more easily than you breathe.

You interrogate every complaint of antisemitism, just to make sure it's not actually whining about someone being mean to Israel. You investigate the person's social media history to make sure they're not a Zionist. You turn around and act so enlightened and wise when you say "Right because Netanyahu wants Jewish people to think criticism of Israel is antisemitic, and he wants Jewish people to think that they have to have ties to Israel and that Israel is the only place they'll feel safe, that plays right into his hands," like you're doing this for Jewish people's benefit. Like you're not one of the people making Jews feel unsafe.

The fact of the matter is that Israel is intrinsically Jewish. By design yes. But also for the fact that it's just logically true? Most Israelis are Jewish. Most Diaspora Jews have friends and family in Israel. It's not a function of flags or national anthems. It's a function of people. Saying "Well conflating Israel with the idea of Jewishness is antisemitic," changes nothing about that. It's words with no value. It's empty air. Because what have you done to advocate for Diaspora Jewry and make them feel like they're not subordinate to Israel? What have you done to assure them that your disdain for a country that most of them have personal familial and cultural ties to is not motivated by bigotry? What have you done to include them and center their safety when advocating against Israel's policies?

Yes, the more people are antisemitic and weird about Israel to Diaspora Jews' faces, the more of them will gravitate closer to Israel. But that's not the point. The point is that if your criticisms of Israel were normal, we wouldn't have a problem. 99% of Diaspora Jews would join you. But you tell them they're not allowed to defend Israel in any context and they're not allowed to defend themselves when your "criticism" of Israel harms them. You don't want to admit that these can overlap. You just want them to silently add a rubber stamp of approval of whatever you say or they can leave.

It's clear you don't see Jews as a marginalized group. This is not how Leftists treat marginalized groups. This is how they treat the oppressor group, the dominant group. Diaspora Jews are at best an ally to Palestinian liberation. Because you don't see them as different from Israelis, you see them as the group that benefits from the oppression of Palestinians, not as a group that has nothing to do with Palestine and is historically and contemporarily marginalized by Western society, the society you live in.

And yet for all you conflate Diaspora and Israeli Jews you clearly want to keep Israel and the Diaspora divided, isolated from each other. They can't show solidarity with one another because that's (((ZIONIST COLLUSION))) and confirmation of a media controlled conspiracy or something. You want Diaspora Jews under your thumb and you want Israeli Jews dead. You're not as subtle as you think you are.

Today is Family Day in Israel.

This post is dedicated to every Jewish family destroyed, in part and especially in whole, by anti-Jewish violence in the Israeli-Arab conflict. It's dedicated to the Kutz family, who were murdered to the last one by Palestinian terrorists on Oct 7. When their bodies were found, they were still embracing.

It's dedicated to Rachel Hiller and her fiance Yossef Weissman, who were each the last surviving member of their families, and were murdered in the Kfar Etzion massacre, which took place before the State of Israel was even established, before they had a chance to marry, and start a family following the loss they experienced in the Holocaust, and to a total of 144 Holocaust survivors who were the last ones, and when the Arabs killed them during the Independence War, these families were wiped out as well, finishing what the Nazis started.

It's dedicated to Livia Dikman, an only daughter, who was pregnant with her first kid, and was murdered in Jerusalem by Hamas terrorists on a day when Israel and Hamas were supposed to have a truce as part of the hostage deal. Livia's sister in law is a colleague of mine at our museum.

It's dedicated to my own relative, Yitzchak Roller, who was an only son to a family that survived the Holocaust in Romania, a baby survivor. He and his mom came to Israel when he was 8, and even though they barely had anything, while giving private lessons for a living, Yitzchak insisted on not taking any money from those in need. Everyone who knew him remarked what an exceptionally good person he was. He also wrote a research paper on the pogrom that was carried out against the Jews of Iasi, which my grandmother had survived (but in which she lost family, something she never fully recovered from). The paper was published by our museum, though Yitzchak didn't get to see that. Being an only child meant he didn't have to serve in the army, but he felt that he had to do his part in defending our country. He was killed in the Six Day War, before he got the chance to marry and have kids. That branch of our family is gone forever.

May all of their memories be a blessing. We will never forget that we are not whole without you.

A grocery store in Toronto was targeted today (January 3 2024). It was set on fire, the windows were broken, and "free Palestine" was graffitied on the doors. The grocery store's name is "International Delicatessen Foods", and so its acronym IDF was part of its signage, which was likely the factor in the antisemitic attack. That, and/or the fact that the owner is Jewish.

According to officials, police and firefighters were called to the scene at about 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday. When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke coming from the rear. Fire crews entered the building and quickly extinguished the blaze. Gray said officers found the graffiti on the outside of the building at the same time that the fire was discovered. She said police suspect the incident was motivated by hate and believe it was committed "with bias or prejudice." "We're very early on in the investigation and I must highlight when I say it's organized, they didn't just happen upon this business. Let's be not silly here. These people have targeted this business and so that means they've been here before," she said.

For those who still don't know why this tweet was ignorant and inane, let me explain.

Guess how many times Stephen Fry mentions zionism? Zero! Guess how many times he mentions the country of Israel? Zero! (Unless you count "the Israeli response" which is unrelated to the existence of the country, or Zionism at all.) What this person is saying, is that they consider the smashing of shop windows, and the vandalism and marking of Jewish property, to be anti-Zionism. Considering they are an anti-Zionist, by following their logic, we can conclude that they not only believe this destruction and harassment is acceptable, but they believe it is ethical.

Further, they accuse him of showing no care for the Palestinians, even though he explicitly states that the loss of life on both sides brings him overwhelming sadness.

Finally, they accuse him of "[Centring] people in this country". It is disturbing that this person believes one cannot be concerned over two issues at a time. It perpetuates the idea that we can only talk about the "worst oppression" and talking about anything else means you are complicit in "silencing" someone else. If this were true, we would not be allowed to talk about Gaza either, or Ukraine, or police brutality, racism, islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and so on and so on, because clearly there are other issues with hundreds of thousands more deaths, and millions more displacements, so why bring attention to it ever?

Unfortunately, people are not talking about those countries, like Syria, Yemen, Ethiopia, Congo, and more, and anyone who does is spammed with "free Palestine" comments. In fact, the most I've heard people talking about Sudan is when these TikTok geopolitical experts attempt to spam the Palestinian flag and get it wrong.

This is not new. This is obviously not new. I have seen tweets like these every single day in the hundreds for the last 80 days. It is not surprising that people think smashing windows is "anti-zionism", nor that they think it good. It is not surprising that they hear a Jew speak, and experience shock and disgust, regardless of what we say.

I do wonder if they would regard anything short of a second Holocaust as antisemitism.
