This is normally when we talk about what was trending this week. Video games, pop music, dumb jokes. Lots of that stuff happened this week. This just isn’t the week for it.
Philando Castile was fatally shot in his car by a police officer who stopped him for a broken taillight.
Alton Sterling was fatally shot in front of a convenience store by a police officer who had him pinned to the ground.
A civilian and twelve police officers were shot, five of them fatally, by sniper fire in Dallas during protests related to these shootings.
What can we do? Listen to the voices of those affected. Resist the temptation to be passive. Care and focus that care.

My babies are my heart. I am not coping well in the quiet moments. I have a son with cerebral palsy, he is going to grow up, he freezes when he gets scared. Is he going to encounter a cop who asks him to do something and thinks he is not complying because he is frozen in fear? Will he gun down my child instead of trying to understand him. I am overwhelmingly sad because I feel like I can't protect my babies. #blacklivesmatter #mourning

Introducing..... Natasha!
Hi I’m Natasha @clickwithnkp. Maybe you’ve seen me around in the babywearing groups but let’s get officially acquainted. A little bit about me: I am a family photographer that lives in Delaware with my husband and our two kids. I am a mother to two amazing boys, Tony (9) and Jaxon (2).
My current wrappee is Jaxon who is 30 lbs and marching closer to 3 with every minute that passes. I have become an expert at wrapping quickly, wrapping around toys, encyclopedias, basketballs, you name it. Jaxon has been through all of the difficult phases of babywearing including, seat popping, leaning, bucking, and alligator rolling to name a few. So why do we keep going?
If we met in real life, I would tell you that I love the art of babywearing. I love the art of wrapping. I love deciding how I’m going to tie it so that I can use it to wear my child. I love that different textiles have different qualities that shine in different carries. I love everything about babywearing.
And here’s a secret…. I do it for me too, not just for my child.
Babywearing makes me a better a mother. It is the best tool that I have at my disposal; it can quiet a tantrum in seconds, it can provide the comfort of a hug when my hands are busy, it can provide a quiet place to nap in a unfamiliar space, it is an extension of myself, it makes me feel like a fierce unstoppable force. And it’s convenient!
What are you wrapping that 30lb high schooler with? Since we have been wearing a long, long, long, time… we have owned like, all the wraps.
But we love a wrap that is solid, not too much stretch, must have some grip, and at least a little bit of texture.
We spend a lot of time in a quick Ruck or Shepherd’s so having some grip to hold it together, works best for us.
And finally my favorite question of all time… How long you gonna wear that kid? Maybe until I can pass him off to his wife, then she can carry him. :-)

I literally wanted to snatch the wrap off of Bri’s (@theboysandb) body. I mean look at that chest pass.

Ring System Temoaya. I’m loving this thinner weight Pavo Guild we’ve got going on here with Ring System. It has micro-texture for solid slip knots, and it wraps like a second skin right out of the first wash. The Temoaya colorway is so wonderful Autumn that it makes you want to throw on some boots and search out a pile of fallen leaves.

Gah! I was searching for some Zebra Platinum pictures right before the release of his sister, Zebra Soir. And I found this whole set that I didn’t post! I love WQ of this wrap. It is fluid with excellent glide. This is the wrap I’m reaching for when wrapping over sweaters and jackets this fall. I’m glad that @pavotextiles is releasing another with similar wrapping qualities! I cannot wait to see the action shots of Soir!

You know you’re a real wrapper when ____? You no longer fear the natty. I used to think white/cream colored wraps were so impractical. Then I learned that dying threads vs leaving them in their “natural” undyed state sometimes changes it so that the wrap qualities of the same wrap can be different in a dyed color versus natural. The wrap qualities sold me. And I came to realize they wash up just like any other wrap. Three of my favorites are now natties (zebra platinum isn’t a true natty but close enough).

Love Birds… one of the biggest and most pleasant surprises of my babywearing career thus far.
I, admittedly, wasn’t sure I could rock a bird wrap at first. Then, a dear friend sent me hers to try out. From the very first wrap, I was enamored. Love Birds is soapy, airy, cushy, stretchy, and just so unbelievably comfortable with my toddler. Wrapping with LB is a luxurious experience, like you’re pampering yourself. I quickly went searching for Peridot and purchased one only a few weeks later. A few months ago, I realized that Sargasso Sea (pictured here) was perhaps the most perfect blue I had ever come across and decided to add that to my stash too. I always try to convince wrappers with bird phobias to at least try the wrap because you really can’t tell that it is a bird design when wrapped, but honestly? I’ve fallen in love with the motif and try to get those beautiful birds in every shot I can now. <3

@pavotextiles‘ Klee is a masterpiece. I get lost in the colors. I also had a good chuckle over all of the faces of my little guy. He was actually happy to be up, despite his angersquad face.

I will be the first to admit that I am easily distracted by the newest release on the block. However, there is something to be said about a wrap in your stash that is your soulmate. The one wrap that is never on the chopping block because it is never leaving. For me, this is Sketchy. When I find myself getting stressed out about the size of my stash, or feel the need to buy and sell all of the things, or being worried about not getting the latest wrap that was released; I pause, head to my stash bag and pull out Sketchy. The quiet beauty of this wrap calms me. It is all that is right with my world. So when all else fails...I just remember... I got you babe.
