They cancelled Close Enough after 3 seasons. I can’t believe they did this to an adult animated series that’s way better than The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, and South Park. Huge mistake they’ve ever made!
The show was stuck in limbo for 3 years before they picked it up. The least they could have done was tell the crew that they only had three seasons to work with.
Dunno why you would let them work on a 4th season and then say “Actually you know what, we’re not interested in a fourth season.” at the last possible second.
This is why creativity is dying in the entertainment industry.
In the 1st segment of the 3rd episode of season 3, Randy Free Solos, Randy Watson is revealed to be gay as he is attracted towards an Asian-Australian rock climbing instructor named Ty. Their respective voice actors, James Adomian and Leonardo Nam, are both gay in real life.
While their relationship is sadly short-lived, it brings me so much joy that JG Quintel incorporated LGBTQ+ representation in his work. It’s such a shame that we don’t see anything like that in his previous creation, Regular Show. I cannot find any character there that I could relate to whatsoever. Despite it being an iconic animated series in the 2010s, I only mostly remember it for its mean-spirited moments, toxic masculinity, Mordecai being a simp, Rigby being an idiot, Muscle Man being an asshole, CJ being a hot-headed bitch, and heteronormative bullshit being constantly shoved into the viewers’ faces.
I consider Close Enough to be the pioneer of modern adult animated series as its wholesome and earnest moments make it totally different from shows such as The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, and South Park. I’m looking forward to seeing more of this show and I sincerely hope that Randy meets the right guy for him because he deserves to be happy.
In season 1, Alex was attempting to write a series of Sci-Fi Viking Action Novels featuring a fantasized version of himself. As of season 2, Alex has seemingly switched his genre to semi-historically accurate Viking Erotica with completely fictional characters.
On the episode Josh gets shredded, the scene with Josh throwing out his back while lifting Candice was based on something that happened to JG Quintel when he lifted up his daughter.
When Candice is in the daycare center, in the episode 100% no stress day, she is seen playing with a keyboard that strongly resembles The Power from Regular show
