Rogue cares — a lot — and she's rarely been able to show it in traditional ways (physical touch, yada yada). I think she's found other ways to show it, though.
Canonically, we know that Rogue speaks French and German. Now, it's easy to write it off as she absorbed it at some point in time (or something else), but I think she went out of her way to learn both languages as a way to connect with both Remy and Kurt — two people that mean a lot to her.
We also know that Rogue's picked up some thieving skills over time. She's borrowed powers from Remy enough times that the residual know-how could still be there, but again, I think she spent time practicing.
She doesn't use anything she's picked up openly or frequently; they're little inside secrets she shares with the other person — like occasionally sending Kurt a string of profanities in a text when she's all riled up, or pickpocketing her husband when they're making breakfast in the kitchen.
As a way of saying "hey, I know this thing is important to you, so I want to share it with you."

It took watching the episode again to get it, but I totally agree with this assessment!
RANT TIME! SPOILERS WARNING….
After seeing episode 3 of X-Men 97, I really think that the whole Mags and Rogue “thing” is a misdirect and a tease. I think Mags is helping Rogue control her powers and that’s why they have booked so much time in the danger room (much to Remy’s dismay and Morph’s teasing). And especially after Remy relieves his “nightmare”… I just think he’s feeling so insecure right now. Clearly Rogue came running to him when he was injured…
I hope I am right…I definitely feel better after seeing this weeks episode 😂
Okay, everyone please tell me X-Men '97 is living up to the hype, because I need to see my girl Rogue being awesome again. I haven't had time to start watching it on Disney+ yet but 12yo me will get to it, I promise. (Clip Studio + Photoshop for the finishing effects)

X-Men comics were such a strong foundation suit of how I learned and re-learned how to draw humans in college, and you can definitely tell the long-time influence when I actually get to work on characters from the series ✨👌🏼
