⋆⭒˚.⋆ zodiac signs as cocktails
Tumblr media
capricorn: old fashioned as the name suggests, the capricorn can be considered old fashioned: their driven, head down, hyper-focused personalities match the cut and dry of this well-known cocktail. i would argue that this is the perfect drink to help capricorns kick back their feet and loosen up a little bit. with how hard you work, you guys need it.
aquarius: bloody mary like the aquarius, a bloody mary is an acquired taste. it's no bullshit, though. it's different and it knows it. you know it too! the bloody mary is unapologetically themselves, and the girls that get it get it.
pisces: cosmopolitan the dreamy pisces is constantly dwelling on feelings of nostalgia, hence why i gave them what is, essentially, an elevated vodka cran. there's no shame in reminiscing! there's a reason that the vodka cran is everyone's gateway cocktail—you can never go wrong with it.
aries: rum 'n' coke a rum 'n' coke is extremely straightforward, similar to the blunt aries. from the outside, it looks unsuspecting, but this drink tends to surprise a lot of people with how smooth it goes down given how drunk you get. a night with one of these is always bound to be memorable.
taurus: piña colada piña coladas—and the taurus—are always a good time, but never a long time. they like to show up and show out for one night, and one night only. we don't know what tauruses get up to when they've irish exited the party scene, but frankly, its none of our business.
gemini: pornstar martini like the divisive gemini, you either love a martini or you don't. some people hear the word martini—or pornstar, for that matter—and tune out. but they'll never know that they're missing out on one of the best cocktails on the menu.
cancer: mimosa a mimosa is an honest drink, much like the sensitive cancer. it's just champagne and orange juice, what's not to like? the bubbles give this drink a little bit of a feisty edge, and you definitely end up a little drunker than you mean to. day drinking by accident is definitely cancer coded.
leo: aperol spritz aperol spritz's are the it girl, as are leos. you can't help but want to drink an aperol spritz and be the coolest bitch at the rooftop bar. whether it's a little too bitter for you is up to interpretation—and preference—but it still holds up as one of the best cocktails. has a distinct european vibe.
virgo: gin and tonic some people think the gin and tonic is boring, and they are wrong, just as they would be wrong about the vibe of a virgo. though it can come off as quite serious and standoffish, the gin and tonic can always facilitate a well needed gab sesh while maintaining a level of class and well-spirited humor.
libra: strawberry daiquiri everyone thinks they know what's in a strawberry daiquiri, but they probably don't. like the libra, this drink appears one way, but completely subverts your expectations. like a libra, the daiquiri is sweet at first sip, but packs an unexpected punch from right under your nose.
scorpio: amaretto sour a little bit sour and a little bit sweet, just like the elusive scorpio. a lot of people don't know a lot about an amaretto sour, and they are criminally underrated. it's a cozy drink that keeps you warm with a hint of nuttiness ;).
sagittarius: margarita a margarita is fun fun FUN! like the playful sagittarius, getting tequila drunk is another kind of antidepressant. despite its tart undertone and overwhelming flavor, at times, there's a reason margaritas are always on the menu at happy hour. never a dull moment.

measuring the year in astrological seasons changed my perspective on the calendar year
i don't know if it's just me, but a big trend on my for you page right now is "how i see the year" and it's essentially just groupings of how people break up their year (e.g. jan & feb & mar = first part, apr & may = second part, etc). me personally? i made the decision last year to start measuring my time in astrological seasons, and it changed how i conduct myself each month to maximize my productivity and happiness.
Tumblr media
at the very end of aquarius season, i was yearning for pisces season to begin. as a water rising, this is one of the times that i start to shine, and i'm very aware of it. i always had trouble explaining what my favourite month is, because in reality, it's the second half of february and early march. similarly, my favourite holiday is christmas, but specifically the end of november and the first half of november. those things, respectively, are pisces and sagittarius season. i had subconsciously been measuring my whole life in astrological seasons.
last year i started creating playlists that correlated with the astrological seasons, emulating exactly what each season represented to me (e.g. capricorn season was lock-in academia music, aquarius season was quirky main character music). for pisces season, i've gone for a light and airy vibe, like the optimistic and dreamy pisces.
by doing this, i've been tapping into the aura of each season, and maximizing the strengths of the time period we're in. at a college on a quarter system, we're starting to wind down with finals right around the corner. by embracing the core values of a pisces, i've found myself in a more positive headspace, wanting to surround myself only with close friends. additionally, i've been prioritizing rest and alone time, which has proven to be very lucrative for my hobbies. never in my life have i done so much junk journaling and colouring.
if you don't already, i would highly recommend maintaining this outlook. while the calendar months can be helpful in a corporate and a professional landscape, identifying the core traits of the astrological seasons and putting an emphasis on them will actually help you get more done within the 365 day period than trying to be a million people every 24 hours.

coffee chat #8 ☕️
long time no seeeee! i'm actually on vacation right now, so that's why i've been absent. i actually had written a coffee chat that I never finished/posted about how people start romanticizing fall too early—something i am guilty of myself—but this vacation has actually saved me from this epidemic, and i'm now a surprisingly strong advocate for august vacations.
Tumblr media
not that i ever WASN'T advocating for august vacations, but it's not something i've had opinions on until lately. as i'm sure a lot of you have experienced as well, the social media girlies are romanticizing the hell out of the autumn season, counting down the days until the starbucks pumpkin spiced cold foam is back and stocking up on discounted t.j. maxx vanilla candles.
for a lot of people, it's already back to school season, so it's understandable that august = start of fall for those, but as someone who doesn't start classes until mid september, it's a ways away until my autumnal vibes commence. still, i wanted to participate in the epidemic that people are posting about, and have been trying very hard to not start watching gilmore girls.
but on thursday, me and my girlfriend left for sunny arizona. even if you haven't been here, i'm sure you're aware that arizona is a hot desert area, and we're on the end closer to the mexican border. we made a playlist consisting mostly of fleetwood mac and MICHELLE (underrated, pls go listen to their music if you haven't) and have been getting dutch bros every morning.
the summer vibes are summering here. it is far from fall vibes here, and by extending my summer, i feel like i'm actually going to cherish the fall time. especially because it'll still be hot in the south when school is starting.
so if not in august, would 10/10 recommend a vacation right before school starts as to not fall into the trap of romanticizing autumn early. you'll either be sick of the fall before halloween or be sad that your forcibly enacted autumn isn't the vibe since it's still 80 degrees outside.
personally, i'll be starting my fall festivities on september first. september is 100% a fall month, and don't give me that whole "fall starts on the equinox" bullshit. no. no one follows that rule. beginning of september is a respectable time to start.
some good transitory activities between late summer and beginning of fall: fruit picking, catching up on your tbr, cultivating recipes for back-to-school meal preps, wearing outfits with overalls, incorporating warm colours into your outfits, crafting and diy's, and back-to-school shopping.

coffee chat #7 ☕️
it's august! queue the taylor swift and yearning for the fall, tis the damn season. personally for me, august is a thriving time. it's like the last kick of summer time adrenaline before back to school season. in lieu of that burst of inspiration, i've set a couple of goals for myself before i enter my senior year of college. i'm posting this to not only hold myself accountable, but potentially inspire others to practice some of these.
Tumblr media
goal number one is increasing my water intake. it's hot and humid where i live, so it shouldn't be too difficult to stay hydrated, but i also spend a lot of time in my apartment because of how warm it is. bringing a water bottle wherever i go to try makes it easier since half the struggle of drinking lots of water is not wanting to get up and pour myself a glass.
my next goal is meal planning. since finishing class for the summer semester, i don't really have a consistent schedule to follow, and therefore feel kind of lost when it comes around to making food. i find myself picking at snacks when i'm hungry rather than having a balanced meal. by meal planning, it relieves the pressure of deciding what to make and i can ensure that i'm getting a variety of nutrients throughout the day.
goal number three is fully getting ready in the morning. i don't dress for anyone's gaze, but with no solid plans and no people i really know here, i've had a lack of motivation to get ready. but doing my hair and makeup and putting on a slay outfit boosts my confidence tenfold, so for the remainder of the summer, i'm gonna fit up, not only to make me feel confident, but also in the interest of experimenting before i go back to school and add some new elements to my style roster.
my final goal is to clean up my space more. by habitually cleaning every day, i'm making it a part of my daily schedule and will hopefully be able to maintain that flow during the school year. a clean space makes me feel so much more productive, and i feel like i'll be much more motivated to journal, read, post on tumblr, etc.
i have a couple of other smaller goals, but those are my main four big changes that i'm making to improve my wellbeing and create consistent habits. my college has a late start so i have until september to make these big of changes, but even if you start school pretty soon, it's never too late to practice some of these! i hope you found some inspiration to imitate some of these, or come up with your own goals.

coffee chat #6 ☕️
hello everyoneeee it's been a while since i've posted. i'd love to tell you i've been busy...but i really have not. i've been staying indoors for the most part, purely because it's so hot out where i live. but i'm having a hard time justifying that. it's summer and i feel like i should be spending my time outside. something i've been thinking about, though, is that modern culture has conditioned us to think that we have to be going out to be productive all the time.
Tumblr media
between get ready with me's, what i eat in a day's, vlogging, fit checks, etc. social media is consumed by influencers who are always doing something or going somewhere. rarely ever will you see an influencers who is not going out or "being productive".
and i put that in quotations because productivity has frequently changed meanings, and even carries different meanings for each individual, but in the social media sense, i think productivity is defined by filling your day up. i'm a very active person and a busy body, so i feel really bad about myself if my day isn't filled up with activities. lately, though, i've been so burnt out and craving rest.
i think the non-stop schoolwork since january has probably lead to this, and as of last thursday, this is the first time for an extended period that i haven't been in an academic setting and simultaneously don't have obligations to fulfill. it's really stressful having to fill up all of my time with activities, and this is partly due to the lack of third spaces.
i have a lottt of money/spending anxiety, and i have to justify a purchase before i make it (we're working on it because it does inhibit me from participating in a lot of social activities). with trying to schedule my days off, i've realized that all there is to do here is spend money. coffee shops, going to the beach, going out for dinner, going to the bookstore, picking fruit, escape rooms, etc. are all ideas i came up with for my free time, but they all require paying some sort of fee.
i'd be able to go out more if there were places by which i didn't feel obligated to spend money to enjoy that space. obviously a bookkeeper isn't gonna force me to buy a book, but 1. it's not fun if you don't lol and 2. i feel sort of guilty, especially because my local bookshop is a small business.
anyways, this is just a long winded way of saying that money anxiety sucks, and we deserve more spaces that aren't home or work/school where we can get out of the house. being home can kind of inhibit the level of productivity i achieve since i'm very comfy in my apartment, so i just gravitate to the couch and my bed and just relax all day.
and this is more for me personally, but i cannot stand the girl rot trend. there's nothing wrong with it, and i believe girls are free to rot as they please, but for me personally, i hate the terminology, and it makes me feel like i'm wasting away. it's also made it really hard for me to justify resting because of the stigma surrounding it, and staying home in general.
so now i'm stuck in this cycle of not justifying rotting and not justifying spending money. so i'm kind of at a standstill with what i spend the rest of my summer doing.
and for once, i don't have a conclusion, this is just an ongoing dilemma. i guess the reason i'm putting this out there, then, is to let others know that they aren't alone in feeling this way. i'm honestly just waiting for the weather to cool so that i can start going on midday walks and sit in the park without feeling like im melting.

leo season ! ₊˚⊹ ࿔
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
happy leo season to all that celebrate!
something that i love about this time of year is that the passion and creative flow is at an all time peak. where you channel this energy will vary based on your rising sign (i recommend referencing cosmiclatte's post on instagram to find out this info) but if there's a passion project, or a hobby, or any sort of creative outlet you've been wanting to get into recently, now is the time!
orange is the colour this season. no reason, just because it makes sense to me. it's the tail end of the summer, so it's the time to spend time with the people you love, make good food, and drink fruity wine.
have an amazing leo season everybody <3.

⋆⭒˚.⋆ zodiac signs as coffee
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
capricorn: espresso shot straight to the point and full of energy, capricorns match the vibe of an espresso shot to a T. they're an absolute no bullshit choice and you know exactly what you're getting with a capricorn.
aquarius: dirty chai  aquarius' aren't like the other girls, the same way a dirty chai isn't like the other coffees. chai is the star of the show here, and it's one of those drinks that feels irreplaceable.
pisces: vanilla affogato pisces of course had to be the sweetest coffee known to man, the affogato. unsure if an affogato is a desert or a drink, but like the pisces, we tend to overlook the confusion they cause and just enjoy the saccharine energy they offer.
aries: irish coffee  unsuspecting at first, but packs a punch. like an aries, irish coffee's can come off strong at first but it'll make you feel all warm and fuzzy after a while. spending time with an aries is always a good time.
taurus: caramel macchiato caramel macchiatos, despite not being as common, are well known and popular. like a taurus, they are known for being extremely strong with a hint of sweetness. unreliable and spacey at times, but always enjoyable when you encounter them.
gemini: cold brew with milk for a sign that seems to always be on the go and committing to a million different things, cold brew is a drink equally as adaptable as they are. quick, on the go, and easy to play with proportions, cold brew can be whatever you want it to be, just like the diverse personality of a gemini.
cancer: iced lavender latte  very gentle and an acquired taste, iced lavender lattes not only are a cancer season staple, but represent cancer's perfectly. floral flavors emulate the tender nature of this sign, and iced latte's are my summer coffee of choice.
leo: espresso martini espresso martinis are always the center of attention, just like leos. it's always a fun time when there's one of these around, but not only do you feel intoxicated in their presence, but the added espresso is an energy booster.
virgo: cappucino a comfort drink but still the logical choice. like virgo's, cappuccino's represent focus with the added bonus of a fun little garnish. virgo's always bring a little pizzazz with them despite their serious and passionate nature.
libra: pumpkin spice latte a classic, but with a fun twist. some people hate them, some people love them, no one ever feels neutral about a PSL, or a libra for that matter. despite their reputation, they are both a fun time and a cozy fall vibe.
scorpio: flat white  what the hell even is a flat white? exactly. scorpio's are absolutely the most mysterious sign, you have no idea what's in store. it seems like a pretty upfront coffee drink, but there's an unexpected sweetness to them.
sagittarius: peppermint mocha  a festive drink for the most festive sign! sagittarius' are the life of the party, and born in the lead up to christmas, it only felt right that they are the best holiday drink out there.

coffee chat #4 ☕️
so i'm back in my apartment! it was just a quick trip home for the weekend. but tell me why it was so chaotic getting back home? first my plane was delayed, my car battery died and needed to be jumped, and then i came home and my cat threw up...then i did an astrology deep dive and let's just say, the planets are in shambles right now.
Tumblr media
saturn, neptune, and pluto are all in retrograde. saturn is about recalibrating yourself and evaluating how you can further grow. pluto is causing you to do a lot of self reflection in regards to your bad personality traits and toxicity. and neptune affects your creativity, so you might be tempted to explore new creative outlets.
the individual retrogrades aren't too bad in and of themselves, but the combination of the three throws some crazy energy into the air. and mercury is entering retrograde at the beginning of august, and i'm sure most people are familiar with what that means for them.
my first reaction when all this chaotic stuff was happening on my way home was to look up what was in retrograde. to me it's fascinating that astrology always lines up with exactly what's happening in my life. i know that this kind of spirituality is not for everyone, but it's kind of silly how the planets and stars literally explain every little detail.
but simultaneously, i get in ruts where i wish i didn't know as much as i do about astrology, because as i'm educated on the planetary positions and how it affects the world and my placements, i feel like i'm hyperaware, and wish that i didn't know altogether.
i think that the best thing that i've been focusing on lately is the season that it is and what sort of energy it perpetuates. like cancer season, for me, is a time of the year where i'm valuing my home, my family, and indoor activities. i've been journaling, blogging, reading, just generally spending more time indoors.
it's coinciding nicely with the weather we're having here, it's too hot to go outside and enjoy it. usually i feel really unproductive and sad when i don't get outside enough, but this cancer season energy has got me appreciating being inside for once.
and obviously we're going to be transitioning into leo season soon, which will help me focus on my individualism as well as my passions. i was planning of reworking and editing my novella after my class ends this week, so it actually lines up perfectly with the type of energy leo season puts out.
anyways, i hope you all take care of yourself during these retrogrades, it's gonna be a rough few weeks when all these planets are in retrograde, but also remember that these are good times for introspection. retrogrades tend to make space for more interiority and we can end up neglecting our personal relationships. tread lightly, but also make use of this period where you'll feel very connected to yourself !!!

coffee chat #3 ☕️
so i was on my walk this morning and as i mentioned in my morning routine post, walking is when i do most of my thinking. usually i'm walking around my college town, which happens to be a small southern city, but since i'm in my hometown in the northeast, i was walking around the woods, and i feel like the change of scenery made me appreciate my surroundings more.
Tumblr media
first, i'd like to take a moment to talk about the absolute banger of a drink that i made myself this morning (i promise this relates to the first paragraph, bear with me). so i did my single scoop of chai, as per usual, but instead of cold brew, i decided to take advantage of my parents very fancy coffee machine and i added a double shot of espresso. guys....that shit was life changing, okay. so life changing that, i'm not joking, when i took the first sip, the sun shone brighter, the birds started singing. at least that's how it felt.
everyone's always like "it's the little things in life" and i was always like oh my godddddd shut the fuck up, because i was so severely mentally ill and the "little things" brought me no joy. but when i took that sip of coffee this morning, i realized that i have fallen victim to the Little Things Epidemic TM. is it because i've recently entered my twenties? maybe. a lot of things have changed since i turned twenty and started breaking into my early adult life, but appreciating the little things in life, i think, had different origins for me.
my severely mentally ill stage dominated my life for all of high school and my early college experience. because of the way i was suffering, my world view was extremely skewed and everything was just negative.and while i'd like to say that turning twenty changed everything, that's not the case. a lot of effort went into changing my worldview. of course, there were naturally occurring factors, such as getting into a relationship, moving out of my parents house. but turning from a negative into a positive person was no easy task.
i had this idea in my head that life was shit, and i'd never be able to heal under those circumstances, so i was always waiting around for the world and my life to improve before i started working on myself. i wish someone would have told me sooner that the world starts to love you once you learn to love yourself.
i started to prioritize doing things i genuinely enjoyed, surrounding myself with people i cherished the company of, forcing myself to spend time alone and take pleasure in it, listened to music that made me feel happy instead of wallowing in my own sadness. i took charge of my own free will and decided to take action, and worked towards creating a better life for myself.
and in turn, the world seemed to become a better place. sometimes things still suck, and there are bad things that happen, but the point is, the way i view the world is so much different, and it seems much brighter and happier than it used to, even though nothing really changed.
and now here i am, sipping coffee and thinking about how much i love the way that the sun hits the trees just right, bathing the woods in a greenish golden light. it made me feel proud of how far i've come, and how much i've turned my life around. it does get better, but only if you're willing to put in the work for it. putting out good energy into the universe doesn't just benefit other and the universe, but also you and your wellbeing.

⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆ the morning routine i've been liking lately
Tumblr media
7:40AM: if my cat hasn't already woken me up by now, my alarm has. i get up and put on some workout clothes, sunscreen, then i feed the cat, and make a lil drink.
drink of choice: one scoop of trader joes chai, boiling water, topped off with cold brew ☕️
8:15AM: go on a hot girl walk. i walk for about an hour each day, and i have a set route which makes doing the walk really easy. it's muscle memory at this point. i use these walks to come up with story ideas, or think about things that life distracts me from. it's a good way to spend time in your day reflecting without distraction or guilt. i wear my noise cancelling headphones and let my mind wander.
9:15AM: shower if needed, or just get changed into clean clothes and freshen up for the day.
9:30AM: make breakfast! i'm a savoury breakfast person, and my hyperfixation breakfast right now is scrambled eggs with feta, roasted tomatoes, and seared green bell pepper on a trader joes hashbrown.
9:45AM: my girlfriend works remotely, so we usually sit at the table together and chat (if she's not in a meeting). i will also write in my journal if i remember my dream from the night before—this is a good way to track the things that are making you anxious and need to confront/address/journal about.
10:20AM: it only takes ten minutes to drive to class from my apartment, but it's a good time to decompress, listen to music, roll the windows down. my class doesn't start until 11AM but i like to get there early to get a parking spot right outside the building.
10:30AM: i'll review/catch up on any assignments. if i don't have any homework to do, i'll scroll through pinterest before class. my professor is the sweetest and brings stuff to make coffee with, so i will also make another little drink at this time.
drink of choice: iced coffee with nutmeg and cinnamon.
11:00AM: class starts and doesn't end until 1PM. it's a comedy writing workshop and we're writing a sitcom together. since it's a summer seminar, it's only a few of us, so it feels more like a writers room than a classroom setting.
