Writing a Self-Portrait~ VS1
When I look at art I am trying to experience that on a different level other than visual. I make assumptions based on visuals but I am really looking for how it makes me feel--- I am a 20-year-old male here at the State College of Florida. I was born and raised in Mount Carmel, Ohio which is to the east of Cincinnati. I am a caucasian male, with a background of Italian, Irish, and Gypsy. A few things I like to do for fun, play baseball, run, workout, and play PC games. As I do not work a job, I am working every day with baseball in hopes for it to become my lifetime job after this season by playing professional baseball. What is unique about me is that family, friends, and baseball is what my life is revolved around. Any of the people in my self-portrait need me I will be there for them because they have been there for me since they are the beginning. I grew up loving baseball, and my family. That will never change.

Art and Writing~VS1
This image above happens to be one of my favorite images in recent times. This image captures Gerrit Cole, who played for the Houston Astros walking off the mound in 2019 Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. This photo captured one of the greatest performances ever by a starting pitcher in postseason history. I look at this image daily because it shows that no matter what adversity you have been through in life you can always come out on top. Gerrit Cole is the pitcher and baseball player that I will always strive to be. This picture is beautiful to me, a man that has worked his hardest the whole game has finally walked off the field with the whole Houston crowd cheering behind him. With his efforts, he has drawn love from the whole city of Houston that is beauty.

Introductions/First Artworks
1- Hello, my name is Cole Ayers, and a fact about me is that I play baseball here at SCF.
2- (1)This piece of work is called Pietà by Michelangelo.
(2) Pietà is Italian for "pity" and "compassion"
(3) The Pietà is worth almost 300 hundred million dollars.
(4) In the Pietà, Michelangelo makes the Virgin Mary look young and plentiful instead of old because she is youthful and that is described by the power of God and she is the closest to God.
(5) Michelangelo carved Pietà from one single slab of marble.
3- I really like this piece of work by Michelangelo. As I have seen Pietà before in church I did not know very much information about the artwork. I did not know what it stood for or how much effort it took into making it and actually did not know that Michelangelo even created Pietà. My first thought when I saw this piece was just a woman holding a brittle young man, but never thought to put two n two together and its the Virgin Mary holding her son Jesus during his last few breaths. Michelangelo's ability to create a piece as complicated and detailed as the Pietà is absolutely incredible. I have gained a lot of respect for sculpting and art just in my time working on this assignment.
