Great news everyone. There was a kitten wandering in the drive thru at work and my inner warrior cats kid tried to be a hero and capture him.
I have now suffered multiple puncture wounds and have to go to the emergency room.

something I’m thinking while rereading catching fire. katniss is so convinced that the districts are rebelling because of her rebellious act to challenge the capitol, and that they don’t buy that she was in love with peeta (as snow says). therefore, in her head, gale is rebellion and truth and peeta is the capitol’s design for her and by extension not real - and she thinks everyone sees this. but in mockingjay (and correct me if i’m wrong), when she’s in district 8, at the hospital, the people are asking her about peeta, about the baby, trying to console her by saying that they understand that peeta is doing what he has to to survive and protect her too. the districts also believed in their love story. it’s not crazy to think that they saw two people in love put in the most dire circumstances, to the point where they’d rather die themselves than kill the other, and felt angered enough to fight back, combined with their own poverty and district struggles. so while katniss thinks her romance with peeta is the opposite of revolution and rebellion, it’s actually at its very heart but in a completely different way. it’s the crux of the issue for the people who are fighting for love and humanity, instead of unguided anger.

Hunger Games is a love letter.
Hunger Games is a love letter to Prim. A love letter to the gentle, to the healers, to the kindly headstrong, to the wise. A love letter to the defenceless and precious, to those who have seen too much too soon — a love letter to those we yearn to save and, often, can’t.
Hunger Games is a love letter to Madge. A love letter to those who love quietly, to those whose silent actions say a lot more than words ever could. A love letter to the companions whose acceptance and support warm our hearts and touch our souls, to those who stay with us forever — sometimes, regrettably, only in memory.
Hunger Games is a love letter to Johanna. A love letter to the wounded, to those made harsh by loss. A love letter to those who’d rather be loathed than deemed an inconvenience, to those who don’t know how to let people in anymore — a love letter to those who don’t remember what it is to be loved.
Hunger Games is a love letter to Rue. A love letter to the sweet and generous, to the brutally sacrificed, to the victims of injustice. A love letter to those who could have been saved but weren’t, to those who deserved better, to the innocent — a love letter to the children who will be forever mourned.
Hunger Games is a love letter to Finnick. A love letter to those whose pain was made to be spectacle, to the dehumanised and abused. A love letter to those who put up a wall and hide their pain, to the brave and broken, to the soulfully beautiful — to those who sometimes fall to pieces and can’t put them back together.
Hunger Games is a love letter to Haymitch. A love letter to those who never stopped hurting, to those who dismantle themselves to cope with what’s left, to those who’d rather forget. A love letter to those whose self-hatred struggles with all the good they desperately want to do, those who’d love to love, those who are afraid to fall asleep — those who are irreparably torn in the aftermath.
Hunger Games is a love letter to Katniss’ father, whose memory is the only survivor, and to Katniss’ mother, who is left to pick up the pieces.
Hunger Games is a love letter to Peeta, the dandelion in the spring. A love letter to rebirth and hope, to the growth of flowers among the ashes, to the promise of a better future. A love letter to love, the selfless, healing love, the one that breathes life back into starved lungs, the one that makes a home, the unconditional embrace that warms wintery hearts — a love letter to a sunset that calls for dawn.
Hunger Games is a love letter to Katniss, to the fire of a revolution that yearns for peace. A love letter to those who, surrounded by violence, choose compassion, a love letter for the inadequate and chosen, a love letter for those who are exhausted and forced to get up. A love letter for those who, after the fight, seek to rebuild, a love letter for those who are broken and selfless, a love letter for those who tried their hardest to save those they loved — a love letter to the survivors.

“ To this day, I can never shake the connection between this boy, Peeta Mellark, and the bread that gave me hope, and the dandelion that reminded me I was not doomed. ”
such a beautiful way to foreshadow the whole series from the first pages and how he's the person that helps her keep hope for a better future every time again and again

I find it so funny when ppl say that Katniss has no personality, she's so cute and funny! Like do you not remember when she...
1. Thought Finnick was making out with Peetas corpse and was like "damn didn't know he was fruity like that"
2. When Gale confessed his love for her and she was STRIAGHT up like "yeah I know" 💀
3. Saw Peeta had been crying after the first reaping and immediately thinks "damn he's good, playing the weak sympathy card". Like girl he thinks he's gonna die! He's gonna die!
4. Katniss and Finnick wearing the green face cream in CF and scaring the fuck outta Peeta on the beach
5. Just her and Haymitch, especially the first book
6. "I decided to go ahead and like Boggs" - thanks for letting us know queen 👑
7. In MJ when they're trying to film the propos, and she's just horrible at it
8. In the first book when she's trying to drain the pus out of Peetas leg and she just so goddmaned grossed out
9. Saw the cupcakes at the Capitol party and immediately thought that Peeta would love the frosting details
10. In MJ when Gale and Peeta are talking about Katniss choosing one of them, she's just like "gonna leave you two bums here, don't need this shit"
11. Everytime she was unaware of people flirting with her or just being nice. She always think there's some hidden motive... like girl they're your family and friends, they just like you as a person
12. "Nobody needs me" "I do, I need you". Katniss finally admitting her love for Peeta and realises that she can't live without him!! It's such an important part of her growth towards Peeta and no one talks about it!! The girl how has survived everything finally needs not just something, but SOMEONE. And it's HIM (I'm so normal about this I swear)
13. Sassying buttercup at every turn
14. She has the same vibe as goop from Meet The Robinsons (especially with Madge). "Hey Katniss, wanna eat lunch together?" "Hey Katniss, wanna go for a walk into town later"
She's there like:

I always wish we got more details about Peeta's life. Who were his friends apart from Delly? What was his relationship with his brothers like? How did his family react to everything that happened in the Games?
And I've gotten frustrated with Katniss before, thinking (forgive me fellow Everlarkers) "why isn't she paying attention to this MAJOR stuff about Peeta? Why do we get so little details? Is Katniss actually that self-centered she doesn't know the names of Peeta's brothers?"
But then I remember her speech where she tells him that he likes to sleep with the windows open, he never takes sugar in his tea, and he always double-knots his shoelaces and I think if she knew those little things, of course she was aware of the bigger stuff. Just because she didn't tell us doesn't mean that she doesn't know these things herself. She was observing him ever since he threw her the bread. She knows all of it, or at least what she can observe. And partly, it's not relevant to the immediate plot. But also, given how protective she is over details about time she has with Peeta away from the cameras, Katniss is aware of the boundaries of not sharing this personal information about Peeta with the audience. She's protecting him, his feelings, his privacy, his right to talk about (or not talk about) his friends and family to a broader audience.

sometimes i’m normal about the hunger games and then i remember that in district 12 there’s a wedding ceremony where the couple toasts a piece of bread together in order to signify the beginning of their shared new life and then the main character and her love interest are the girl on fire and the boy with the bread and their first fucking interaction is when he burns a loaf of bread to give to her

I love that every victor from District 12 won by breaking the rules.
Katniss was proficient with a bow and in a forest because she went past the fence and hunted game illegally; Peeta survived because Katniss threatened for the games to not have a victor after the promised rule (presumably influenced by Haymitch?) if he wasn’t saved; Haymitch won because he used the capitol forcefield against his opponent, bringing their weapon into his game; Lucy won because of rat poison brought into the arena and Snow feeding her scent to the snakes.
There was not a victor from twelve that didn’t backhand the Capitol with their survival. lmao.

For old times sake is actually such a heartbreaking and beautiful sentiment. Like, let’s do it for the love that used to be here. It is reason enough.

The more time we spent together
The more obvious it was that we had a connection
One of those rare, unnameable sparks
With such an organic flow
We wanted all of the same things
But he continued to hold me at arm’s length
Under the disguise of protection
Like he wanted me close and far away at the same time
And to this day…
I still can’t understand why
