The Only Bike You'll Ever Need - ROYAL ENFIELD HIMALAYAN
Tumblr media
ROYAL ENFIELD HIMALAYAN Overview:
“The only motorcycle that you’ll ever need”- RE chooses to define this legendary motorcycle with these words. The Himalayan, when it was launched back in 2015, won many hearts with its purposeful built and off-road prowess.Over the years, it has come to be the go-to motorcycle for rookie off-road biased riders, both Indian and foreigners. RE, when this was first launched with a carburetor, had to face some reliability issues, but after the introduction of fuel injection, these reduced considerably. The BS-VI, model adds a switchable ABS on the rear wheel. The hazard light switch, that was taken off in the BS-IV unit, has been put back on. It also sports some new colours as well. But in the process of being BS-VI, it has gained 5kg of weight, now weighing 1kg shy of 200kg. And it has also lost on 0.2 hp of power, the torque remains the same. The design of the Himalayan gives it a very purposeful stance, adding to tall stature is the 21-inch front wheel. The riding posture is so that the rider is as comfortable standing up on the bike as he is sitting on the broad and comfortable seat. The Himalayan also features a shorter side stand that helps it to remain a tad more stable while on the stand...keep reading

The Urban Retro-Cruiser - ROYAL ENFIELD METEOR 350
Tumblr media
Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Overview:
Back in 2002, when RE launched the Lightning 535, many RE purists felt the aura of the Bullet taken away from a product coming from RE, that was when a RE was Bullet first and then a RE, little did they know this model was going to carve out its own identity and is going to be more popular among people wanting a comfortable highway machine. The Thunderbird had been RE’s take on modern cruising for about a decade now. But due to some copyright-related issues, RE couldn’t sell the Thunderbird in some overseas markets. So, they needed a new name under which they could sell their idea of cruiser motorcycling. They also decided to take this opportunity to revamp the whole chassis and engine of the cruiser, essentially retaining the original idea, but modernising it to a lot extent and making it more user friendly. The Meteor 350 can actually be mistaken for a tastefully modified Thunderbird X to the untrained eye and you cannot be blamed for this. RE has essentially retained the essence of the Thunderbird X in the Fireball variant and made the Supernova variant reminiscent of the Thunderbird. The Stellar variant works as a mid-way between the modern-retro Fireball and retro-modern Supernova variants...keep reading

The Futuristic Bullet - ROYAL ENFIELD CLASSIC 350
Tumblr media
ROYAL ENFIELD CLASSIC 350 Overview:
They say that there are motorcycles that need to be updated every year, to meet the competition. Then there are motorcycles that are updated every 4-5 years, to meet the users’ demand. And then there are motorcycles that don’t give a sh*t for competition or user demand. They are updated only when the company gets bored of their own product, pun intended; no offence RE. Perhaps the most anticipated motorcycle launch of 2021, the Classic 350 reborn was everything the old BS-VI Classic 350 was, mind you not a BS-IV and definitely not a BS-III, and something more. And guess what, it finally gets a fuel gauge for all those wannabe modern Bulleteers who are not adept at taking notes of the kilometres on the odometer. The frame and the engine have been sourced for the previously launched Meteor 350. But the state of tune seems to be a tad mellower. The Meteor wasn’t an outrageously fast motorcycle, but the Classic seems to be a bit more relaxed, in a good way. The way this motorcycle chills can bring shame to not so well-tuned old Cast-Iron 350s’...keep reading

Do they have what it takes to de-throne the current long reigning king of classic-retro motorcycles, Royal Enfield?
Tumblr media
Yezdi - The King.!!
After the magnificent success of Royal Enfield in the retro-classic middle weight category, almost every other manufacturer wanted a piece of this pie. The Japanese manufacturer, Honda, brought forward its H’Ness and the Italian (now Chinese owned), Benelli, came up with an Imperialle. But they didn’t really take off owing to reasons such as limited network of dealerships and lesser-known legacy and projected spare parts issue as well.Mahindra owned Classic Legends, who have the rights to manufacture Jawa and Yezdi products, saw this as an opportunity to bring back their glorious patrimony of the 60’s through 80’s with the relaunch of Jawa in 2018 with two of their models – the Classic Jawa, and the Jawa 42. But numerous issues plagued their success though recovering after the launch of the Jawa 42 2.0...keep reading
