Why is insincere modesty and fake generosity polite? If you turn something down don't get upset when someone else takes it.

Today's advice from your Goth Auntie
Stop slouching, drink some water, take your meds.
Try to be the adult your younger self needed.
The Distant Ominous Music is deciding if they want to enter the annual Worrying Sounds competition.

"Where did Christian patriarchy come from if not from Jews?"
Rome. You know, the place where the Catholic Church became a thing.
Go search up "paterfamilias."

The thing about the r slur is that people who are using it again are indeed using it as a slur. This isn't a word that is being reclaimed. This is a word that is once again being used 100% as a slur. You're being a bigot if you're using it against others. Straight up. There isn't another argument to be made. Knock it tf off.

Since the r-slur is making a comeback (you know, the word that starts with R, has six letters, and ends in D), I'm gonna make a little PSA:
Yes, it's an ableist slur.
Terms like "asshat," "head-up-ass," "up their own ass," and "high on their own farts" exist. There's also words like crap, dogshit, half-assed, assclown, and chucklefuck. And on the less vulgar side, there are terms like ridiculous, nonsense, train wreck, pointless, insipid, self-absorbed, pretentious, annoying, boring, contemptible, vile, and disgusting.
Substituting words like restarted, poptarted, brain damaged, smoothbrain, etc. is still ableist, because either 1. you obviously still mean the r-word, or 2. you're still using disability as an insult.

After literally every act of mass violence in the US people find posts from the culprit saying "I am a huge racist and antisemite who also hates women and queer people. I love every far-right conspiracy theory, Nazis, and Donald Trump" and then everyone throws up their hands and goes "how could this happen? There's no easy answers...truly we can never understand the mind of evil..."

Friendly reminder that:
The concept of starseeds promotes ableism by minimizing or denying ADHD and autism.
The ancient astronaut hypothesis promotes spiritual colonialism and destruction of other cultures by twisting other people's mythologies and sacred texts to fit their narratives.
The reptilian alien mythology is based on conspiracy theories historically used to justify oppressing and murdering real people. Loosh/blood/adrenochrome harvesting is just repackaged blood libel.
New Age mythology is chock full of repackaged right wing conspiracy theories, the same kind pushed by QAnon.
It's also full of repackaged racist pseudoscience about genetic superiority/inferiority and the function of evolution.
Ascension to 5D was supposed to have happened back in 2012, and the prediction failed.
New Agers are recycling their predictions over and over to catch new waves of people who don't know the movement's history.
Belief in Atlantis is strongly motivated by white supremacy.
For more info, see:
Looks like it's time to talk about starseeds and the New Age movement again.
How the mythology of starseeds, indigo children, crystal children, rainbow children, etc. harms kids
New Age YouTube channel caught recycling claims of imminent "first contact" for three years

So actually Vampire is an ancient Eastern European god, they worshipped him before monotheism happened. Yeah he’s my patron. I can talk to him and he’s actually vegan and can go out in the sun just fine. The centuries of folklore is all just propaganda. Look at this 5-paragraph blog post from 2006 and you’ll see what I mean.

The performance element of witchcraft
Everyone performs. It's just an inherent part of talking about any practice, and that's not a bad thing. It's part of engaging with any community. Talking about cool experiences we have, things we want to do, taking pictures, making posts, etc. We even perform to ourselves, make things #aesthetic to get in the mindset.
The problem is when THAT'S what our identity as practitioners begins to hinge on. Sometimes it's better to keep certain things personal. Sometimes we risk focusing most on the appearance of the act rather than the actual intended results.
Ask yourself: if you could speak to NOBODY about your work, take no pictures, share nothing, what would you do? Would it change? What gives you peace when nobody else is around to give it to you?

If I may, I must make the gentle request that people consult Wikipedia for basic information about anything.
I’m not entirely sure what’s going on, but more and more people coming to me saying they can’t find info about [noun], when googling it yields its Wikipedia entry on the first page.
I’ve said it before, but I’ll gladly say it again: You can trust Wikipedia for general information. The reason why it’s unreliable for academic citations is because it’s a living, changing document. It’s also written by anonymous authors, and author reputation is critical for research paper integrity.
But for learning the basics of what something is? Wikipedia is your friend. I love Wikipedia. I use it all the time for literally anything and everything, and it’s a huge reason why I know so much about things and stuff.
Please try going there first, and then come to me with questions it doesn’t answer for you.

Also? My new goblin cave room is a soothing shade of lavender. I picked the color and painted the walls myself. 💜
