Love the art as always~ what was the inspiration for the starters? I can see and done and a bug, but the grass type looks like a palm tree??? Just curious! I always look forward to your updates. ❤️

Thankyou very much :D tho I haven't been uploading as much as I'd like ^^" Alright so for the starters of Empakpalo we'll begin with Plesola

Plesola the "Solar Fly" is based on the concept of space travel and the love bug. The love bug's life cycle is the main focus for Plesola while their design is based on a deconstruction of the NASA logo.

Secondly, Larota (the most difficult of the starters to come up with)

Larota's design is based on the confusing similarity between two plants: Hemlock and Queen Anne's Lace.

Both are very pretty, one is extremely poisonous, and both are basically carrots. Larota's head is the flower umbel cluster turned upside down, while the neck part is a sort of dress.

Lastly, Suwidle

Suwidle is more based on the calm atmosphere of a quiet lake where Cranes stay. In particular, they are based on the song Suwanee River (hence the first part of the name + 'idle'). You got a bit of a spoiler with Suwidle's final evolution being called Kranease (like the word 'ease' and crane but pronounced sorta like cranberry).

Hope this was helpful, it was honestly really fun to do.

Is there some sort of meaning behind the name Empakpalo? And why did you choose Florida of all places to make a region about?

Empakpalo is a play on the word for "flower" in variations of the Seminole language(s)... described phonetically as em-pak-pa-ke according to an English/Seminole vocabulary book based on pronounciation breakdowns by Lorene B. Gopher. Seminole being a term used for several Native American groups who lived in Florida.

What we refer to as Seminole language is actually many dialects of different languages originating from different groups of people. Unfortunately it's very hard to get accurate information about languages used but I wanted to put more emphasis on all the groups that live and have built up Florida. Florida was originally named by the Spanish with the word "flora" so I wanted to mirror that same meaning. I mostly picked Florida because I live there and even though Florida gets rightfully dogged on many times on the internet, I wanted to present the actual beauty of this place and the culture here.

LOVE seeing this blog update. The Art's fantastic the colors are out of this world, I like the designs so far, and I'd love to see more! But, don't rush yourself. You're doing just fine so far, take all the time you need.
