[ oh my god I know I'm SO late to this topic but the tabloids in Red's life are literally one of my favourite things to discuss.

Red is quite literally a folk legend at this point. When he was just a kid, being the youngest to ever take the championship title, and under the nose of his rival within an hour no less, he was SWARMED by paparazzi and news casts wanting to learn more about him. The fact that he's practically mute in front of a camera only added to the mystique.

a lot of the reason he went up Mount Silver was to avoid media attention.

tough luck because all THAT did was turn him into an urban legend. sleezy tabloids will have blurry pictures of him like Big Foot advertising a sighting of the ghost on the mountain. people sell them to news outlets to this day.

his relationship with them is awful, but at least they think he's a ghost at this point. ]

Red shrugs, taking a seat on the couch and stretching his arm along the back of it. He really had thought about it - there'd been enough deliberation of where made sense, where was close to the mountain, where still felt like home. Where did he feel like cursing with a swathe of starving reporters trying to get a glimpse of Kanto's ghost. This seemed kinder - Viridian was big enough not to cause problems, and Red had chosen a spot right on the outskirts.

Safest.

With the topic switch, Red deliberates a moment, trying to recall the list that Hikari had given him after they'd both had to google how to furnish a place. Clearly neither of their strong suits, and he bites the inside of his cheek, recalling best he can.

"Uhhh. Hikari said a couch. And a coffee table. And a nice chair. And pictures. Probably all of Pikachu. Maybe a bed frame, I think. Stuff for a kitchen. Not that I'm gonna be, like. Cooking up a storm or anything." He has to laugh at himself a little - barking and rough, and his nose wrinkles. "What else would you add."

And of course, to tea, he nods in the affirmative. "Mint if you have it. Please."

「 ❄  A kinder, more polite person would probably have apologized by now for practically kicking in the door during the early, early morning hours while it was clear Clair was in the midst of her evening routine, but Red is not that person. In all truth, his thoughts were almost entirely consumed with this apartment business - blinders on, and his need to consult his dearest friends propelled him forward without much consideration.

He pouts.

"Is it that crazy. I'm, like. Trying to be more sociable. I never said I'm a hundred percent moving into it. Just considering it." A huff, watching Clair as she goes through her large tea collection and selects something new to replace what had tragically been lost on her doorstep.

"Yeah, I know. If you're trying to talk me out of it, it's working." And then. "No snow angels inside either. It's actually so rude. What am I gonna do with myself. But it will be kinda nice to have a microwave, right. Do apartments come with those or do I have to buy one."
