Where is the dance happening? What is the dance about? How does the site inform how you see and make meaning of a dance?
This blog catalogues how we see UC-Riverside’s campus as a space for dancing and dance-making.
While we are dancing in spaces and sites across campus, it is essential to acknowledge, remember, and be in relationship with the shifting environment and the Cahuilla, Tongva, Luiseño, Chemehuevi, and Serrano peoples who first inhabited these lands prior to the University’s colonizing presence in Riverside.
We crafted these dances in 2020 mindfully considering histories that have come before us and the histories that will come after our quarter together ends.
