Dan & Blair - Gossip Girl (2007 - 2012)
Soooooo I guess it was only a matter of time before I started drawing these two, haha! Once in a while there’s a gaping hole in my heart from remembering that they’re not end game — and apparently, the only cure is to draw or write dair fics, I don’t make up the rules…😜

Dair is to be seen.
They were gentle with each other in a way that felt rare. She would always go to him when things got hard — because before anything else, he was her friend. And even in that friendship, he made her so happy that Dorota became genuinely worried, wondering if Blair had joined a cult because she was too happy.
They liked the same things, shared similar tastes, and had real trust. That’s why Dan was her emergency contact on her wedding day — because she knew he’d be there.
He wrote her husband vows, and she said it felt 'like he peered into my soul'.
At their core, they shared a quiet friendship built on deep respect — a bond that slowly unfolded into something more. For Dan, simply having Blair close and knowing she was happy and safe was enough, even if she wasn’t his.
'I just want you to be happy. Tell me — what would make you happy, Dan?'.
He was willing to raise another man’s child — just because he loved her that much.
'—We are very lucky, you know. Most couples don’t give each other the freedom we do. But you and I — we can spend our days as we please. And you know why?
—you trust me, I trust you'.
Even when they were apart, they stayed connected. Their conversations were honest, respectful — no manipulation, no pressure. They helped each other grow, supported one another without needing to be asked.
Dan loved her with no conditions. And he was ready to step aside if that’s what it took for her to be truly happy — even if that happiness wasn’t with him.

““I hope that young women aren’t looking at this [Chuck and Blair] and thinking, ‘I should model my relationships after this’ because it was so dramatic and there was some domestic violence in there that I didn’t necessarily love.””

Hey, love ❤️ What are your top 10 Dair moments, and why did you love these moments so much? I’m sure you’ve been asked this before, but I’m in such a Dair mood right now. I just finished my GG rewatch (stopped at 5.19, by the way; that’s my series finale 😜)
Hey 💕 From the top of my head, Dair goodness:
1. She's intelligent, she's intuitive, she weeps when she watches Nights of Cabiria.
I do believe that this is ultimately my favorite Dair line/scene. Dan, who started out calling Blair as label-whoring package of girly evil, through seasons, and right in front of our eyes, learned that she was much more than that. It's the moment that really, really made me start shipping them.
2. And I'm in Brooklyn, talking about it with... Dan Humphrey. I think someone Freaky Friday'd me, this can't possibly be my life.
This entire scene is delightful. The entire episode, but this scene 🥲 and the way she stays with him in Brooklyn, watching movies and eating pizza, and falls asleep on his shoulder!!! Shippers dream.
3. You'll still have me.
What really kills me is the way he breathes her in after she lies on his chest. Blair wasn't vulnerable like that with anyone. The song too. I'll wait for you.
4. I just want you to be happy. Tell me what would make you happy, Dan.
This kiss felt SO EARNED and Dan stepping up and Blair in that red dress. Swoon. ❤️ Blair not imagining that she could be the one to make anyone happy.
5. Blair, your prince is out there waiting for you. He's out there.
Dan is a pathetic man in love. Blair tells him about his princess being Serena, and he looks like he wants anything but that. He knows where his heart is, at that point, but he decides to shove it down because he thinks Blair doesn't feel the same. Still, he wants her happiness. And he waited for her 😭
6. Serena sent you here to talk to me?
One of the most beautiful scenes in Gossip Girl. They've grown a connection different than anyone else's through that scene, and it just hits right after their full story, that foreshadowing.
7. It's been nice not being friends with you.
Also known as BLAIR FELL FIRST. But really, the way she says that? And the whole "two proper nouns" speech? I'd be faling in love with her as well.
8. I told Chuck he doesn't have my heart anymore.
This scene is perfection. Blair walking into the loft, all sorts of soft. Dan assuming the worst. Her eyes shining. Her quiet confession. "I realized it belongs to someone else." LIKE. This. She said she loved him without even realizing it. She gave him her heart! 🥲🥲🥲
9. One, all-consuming, paralyzing thought.
Dialogue went so hard here. The delivery, the anticipation, Dan's hand on her shoulder. The way Blair looked at him right before the kiss. Just 10/10.
10. You should feel like a princess one last time.
Met Steps, AKA the series finale. Dan and that silly grand gesture that meant so much. Reminding her that she was that princess, that queen, ever since he's known her. Her softness afterwards. So good. Endgame to me.
I will say that I love every single Dair scene though. Some honorable mentions:

#this!!!#she got him drunk. she lied to him. she had sex with him when he was in a vulnerable state (which she put him in). AND THEN FILMED IT#WITHOUT HIS KNOWLEDGE!!!#dan didn’t want to see serena again after this. he continued to say that she manipulated him even into season 6.#not to mention when he tries to explain to blair when the video is outed and she responds with ‘you can only claim date r4pe if you said no’#what the fuck???#that line still disgusts me until this day because the show ACKNOWLEDGES that dan felt taken advantage of but still proceeds to blame him.#i fucking hate this show so bad. good lord. tags: impossibledial
So are we all finally mature enough to say Serena sa’d Dan in the season five finale? Serena intentionally got Dan drunk and She misled him about his relationship status with Blair to then created a scenario to isolate him. Since he was drunk and clearly manipulated he wasn't able to give a clear consent. Not to mention she filmed them without him knowing. Sexual assault isn't always about physical force. It can also involve taking advantage of someone who is unable to give consent.
I hope at the time everyone didn’t know that Sa involved more than just physical force and didn’t just ignored it because he’s a man and not a woman.
