Long-term Reparations for a Black Family

The below write-up is from a previous post I made for Courtney but I copy and pasted it as I'm fatigued and it's still relevant.

For those of you who know my blog, you know my friend Courtney needs support. The reality is it is unlikely that that will change soon given that she is a disabled single mom providing for 3 kids with a low-wage job. I love her dearly and she genuinely struggles every day. I want to make the world better for her. I talk often about the power of community care. Courtney needs this consistently. If you are a non-Black person who is financially secure, please consider giving her reparations every month or biweekly. I will put her paylinks below. To work towards and as an accomplice of Black liberation, you need to be committed.

Currently, her family is struggling with food, getting their water on, and saving for next month's rent. They don't have water at the moment and her son has no clean underwear left. They really need the water back on. The sooner the better. They need 136 more to get the water. If you see this, please send a dollar if possible, or even 50 cents. Small donations add up. Give reparations consistently and commit, but if you can't do it consistently still help out when you can.

Due to my assault a few weeks ago, I went to the doctors because of getting sick and I am now pregnant. Pregnancy terrifies me and I am not equipped to take care of a baby on top of having Roman and our pets back. Because it's so early, I am able to get the pill which costs $560 at my closest planned parenthood but the farther along I get, the more things will cost especially if it gets to the point where I need the surgery cuz the pill won't work. I'm gonna add a thank you to those who have messaged me, Planned Parenthood can pay for a portion of it and the amount i set is actually the portion left after they said they could cover some of the cost! Good for anyone else in a similar position to know! I'm doing card tarot readings and @scarsofbeauty and @saturnpandora are doing art commissions. I have an interview today so hopefully I can get that job to offset some of the cost.

URGENT EMERGENCY

Hey guys? I could really use some help paying rent this month. My court date to be evicted is on the 22nd of April. My boyfriend lost his job recently, but has gotten a new job. However, the first paycheck won’t be delivered in time.

I… really need help. I don’t have much food. Most of my money is going to gas to get my boyfriend to work. I’m… running out of options. I need help. Please. Even a share helps.

I can’t work because my back is really messed up but the disability process where I live can take YEARS.

Another thing: I have an emotional support cat and I really don’t want to give her up but I’m not gonna make her live out of a car. I’m really scared of losing her.

They also took away my food stamps for some reason so I have no way of getting food until they reinstate my card.

Please help if you can.

I found this guy’s GoFundMe on Reddit and wanted to share it here for traction. His top surgery was MAJORLY botched and he’s raising funds for a revision and money for a medical malpractice lawyer.

TW for gnarly medical photos on the page. They’re under a cut, but still.

I have never seen anything like this. It’s completely bizarre.

Shitty people are blaming him for using a surgeon who doesn’t provide photos, but that’s not always possible :/ I, for example, have Kaiser and they don’t provide photos for any of their surgeons so it’s all either on faith, or by digging through reviews. If this doctor had decent reviews overall and seemed competent I don’t blame him for trusting a medical professional.
