Why I Ship and love NatZa

A few days ago, my friend posted an essay on his introduction to NatZa, so I thought I would do the same. :O

To be honest, it was quite straightforward for the most part, if anything because Fairy Tail was one of the ‘newer’ anime I was checking out since I barely branched out. For a while I was just content loving Dragonball/Z/GT...and then Pokemon... YuGiOh... Inuyasha.... Naruto....Bleach... Full Metal Alchemist, I was pretty focused into gaming for a while as well so I never watched too much. So one fall semester I saw a lot of advertisement whenever I’d read a new manga chapter of Naruto Shippuden, and to be quite honest what really grabbed my attention was... Yeah, Erza. Erza and what Natsu :O I was convinced then so I decided to watch it. And... to be quite honest. I never liked Lucy. And a lot of people will always argue that I’m just hating on her for no reason but...she really annoyed me in the episodes. She was selfish, conceited... and she really cared only about her self. Don’t get me started on her complaining all the time @__@.... but yeah. I didn’t quite like Lucy one bit. xD Nevertheless Natsu kicked ass. XD

Continuing on, I finally met the girl that spurred my interest. Erza. It sounds a bit lame, but I wasn’t let down. I loved her character, I loved her magic. She is without a doubt a bad ass mage. So yeah, I would ‘obviously’ ship her with Natsu.

At first I understood that her interactions were more platonic with everyone, but I always caught on she had more attention placed on Natsu. I mean you could say, but for the most part in terms of Fairy Tail, he was the key one that a lot of focus was placed on.

Then the Phantom Lord arc happened. While a lot of it was Lucy focused, there were still a good amount of scenes that kept the fuel running of how concerned Erza and Natsu were for another, and even her putting his trust into him of how he’s the one to succeed her.

Afterwards. I just found it adorable how he went to take Erza’s place, wanting and needing to pay for something she hadn’t done. Their heart to heart talk in the jail cell and how, despite furious he was with her, was followed by how much she loved the effort or least action he put into ‘rescuing her’. Fastforward to the Tower of Heaven and...ohhh boy. It was a ride.Between Jellal quickly making my No.1 shit list and Natsu getting pissed off. I was enjoying it. Regardless of the reason, It wasn’t hard to see that Jellal was the one that tortured Erza the most, and why she was so sad all the time. The whole epic battle of Natsu fighting for her was amazing. Saving her from Jellal... the death Lacrima...the hugs....

But the biggest part of the arc that stands out is how both of them acknowledges they could never live in Fairy Tail without the other. Now however you want to take that but the two of them were willing to die for the other person. Erza was freed because Natsu defeated Jellal... Natsu, the one she always had to keep in line. So what did she do? Try to take the castle down with her to save the man that saved her. However, what did Natsu do? He tore through Etherion to pull her back out.

And even THIS. No matter where you look in any other segment of the chapter, you will never see this.This is the scene that ultimately changed the dynamic between Erza and Natsu. Erza, without her armor and was also the only one to ‘initiate’ any sort of embrace. 

No matter what anyone else says, this ultimately changed their relationship for the rest of the series.

From this point on the relationship the two became...more endearing as the series progressed. From The Oracion Seis arc when he was willing to throw his life away for the man Erza held affections for (Yeah, remember, he was willing to get thrown into the maximum security prison for protecting a terrorist just for Erza, something that takes actual balls).

So yeah, I rambled, but everything up to this point is what solidified by love for the ship. The bonds between them growing stronger, the unwavering trust between another. And it hadn’t stopped here, from this moment on the waves of passion just continued to burn from me. And it’s one of the biggest things I’ve loved about the ship.

Unlike the others, aside from a very few in the series like Gajeel x Levy, or Zeref x Mavis, there hadn’t been so much passion that was built between two people. It wasn’t about them trying to get in other people’s pants. Or trying to just cop a feel. They always built up on another.

Erza is so free and happy, she’s so relaxed because of how much of herself she can be. For the most part she was always so stiff and stern, but whenever she’s around Natsu all the feelings she hadn’t felt start rushing out.

And yeah, Natsu is ‘terrified’ of her, but he’s terrified of making her ‘angry’ you know... like everyone else. He isn’t afraid to do silly things with her like barrel surfing... eat gelato’s... hell, he’s nervous to even see her naked. 

My love of this ship was never about seeing them act like shy teenagers about them, because their interactions with another bolsters confidence and trust. Yeah, Erza is a ruckus, a pervert, but Natsu doesn’t care. Natsu gets rowdy, he starts stuff, but he knows not to go overboard. From the beginning these two were opposites on the spectrum. Natsu was rowdy and childish, Erza was stern and had to be more thoughtful in her plans, but as time went on, their intermingling allowed them to open up. Change. Take on characteristics about another. Yeah, Erza is still ‘mature’ and ‘thoughtful’ but she kicks back and lets herself be childish (hell, she’s FAIRY WOMAN xD) and yeah, Natsu is still rowdy and childish, but he’s more aware and thoughtful of everything around him. I never cared what happens to them in terms of canonicity, because to me they are one of the very few ‘ships’ in the whole show that you can tell has changed from the beginning to the end. To me, that’s what the best of the ships is about, growing together and adopting the characteristics of the person close to you. 

For them, they looked out for their happiness, and used it to propel and use it for the rest of the Guild as well.

SasuHanaHina - Battle Plan

Hanabi: Hmm hmm hmmm...🎵 *skips along* ...Hm? *See's Sasuke waiting at the gate* ..! *makes her way over* Sasuke-Kun~

Sasuke: ...? *turns over* Hyuuga-san. *takes a quick look around* Skipped out on your missions?

Hanabi: *rolls her eyes slightly* More like, I finished them ahead of time. :p. How ‘bout 'chu~ Waiting for Onee-chan? (๑╹ω╹๑ ).

Tayuya: Oi, Sasuke-bastard -w-... Better make sure you have your shit together 'cause we aren't comin' back till we're done.

Hanabi: ...*takes a while to process* ...Σ('◉⌓◉’)?!

Tayuya: ...Hm? *turns to see Hanabi* What'chu lookin at, brat ___////////////

Future Trunks: Phew it worked! We weren't sure, but we're glad that we were able to revive everyone with the Dragonballs.

Future Gohan: !!...What? But I thought all the Dragonballs were gone since Piccolo was killed? And that Shenron couldn't revive anyone past a year?...

Future Trunks: Abouuttt that... We actually went to New Namek... took us a while but we managed to bring Dende back to Earth after we explained the situation and used their Dragonballs for help.

Future Gohan: ..."we"?

Future No. 18: Trunks... *strolling down the stairs in his shirt* Your mother wants us to go ahead and help rebuild the town -- *sees Gohan* Ah, if it isn't blondy, how's that arm working for you? *smirks*

Future Gohan: !!! Trunks! the Android its---

Future No. 18: Calm down... I'm over that whole gig.

Future Gohan: @__@... But! You were the one that killed me! My friends... my family... What's... going on?

Future Trunks: W-Well...

Hanabi: *sitting in her sisters room, cross-legged as she squirms in place* ... *watches her sister trying to get her stuff in order* ...Nee-chan? :O

Hinata: Hmm? Yes?

Hanabi: Why is it only 'you' work with Sasuke-kun, I mean from what I've seen he doesn't really like to talk. @__@

Hinata: Mmm... It's a little complicated n____n"

Hanabi: Mmmmmm...? *leans towards* ...Are you two... Dating?! :O

Hinata: *fumbles her tools* Fu-waah!! @////@ w-Where'd you get that kind of idea?? *dizzy*

Hanabi: Because! :O You still seem to go on Missions with him whenever he comes back to the village... and other than Lord Sixth, Naruto-kun or Sakura-chan, he just talks to you.

Hinata: n___n" Well... Sasuke-kun did some 'bad' things... so to make up for it, he's going around 'atoning' for his mishaps.

Hanabi: ...*tilts head*...?

Sasuke: ...

Hanabi: *leering in questioning* Mmmmm ___> You didn't have any friends growing up did you? I mean besides from Naruto-kun.

Sasuke: ...At the time, they would have only gotten in the way--

Hanabi: *snaps her fingers* Got it. *Glomps him* You should feel honored that I, Hyuuga Hanabi, have chosen you to be one of her friends :p

*Fairy Tail at the GMG -- 1 year after Alvarez*

Erza: C'mon you three, we need to find our way out of the maze before the other Team (Fairy Tail B) makes their way to the center first.

Lucy: T____T Happy... can't you just fly up and find us a short cut or something?

Natsu: ...*light bulb* oh! *taps fist against palm* I got an idea n____n *picks up Lucy* ...~ *throws her at firing speed towards the top of the maze*

Lucy: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Q_____________Q *slams head first into a slab of rock that stops her* .... *slowly crashes to the ground @___@...

Erza: ...I see. So there's no way we can cheat. *Ponders*...We're wasting time just sitting around here. >_______>*

Gray: ...*let's out a sigh* I guess we have no choice. *throws Lucy over his shoulder* I think if it's us three we can--- ...

Erza: We'll just keep attacking it then until we beat this trick wall >___>* *slashing at lightning speed with all her swords*

Natsu: *gathering fire...compacting it...* Dragon Force! *enters Dragon Force mode* Fire King Dragon's... *blazing fist even more*

Erza: Haaaaahhhhh!!! >____>* *slashing even faster and fiercer* Take all of it! *showers every blade in her requip space*

Natsu: Demolition Fist! *slams his fist to the spot next to Erza's*

Gray: ...*see's the massive hole that pierced cleanly through to the core of the Maze where the 'end goal' is* ...That works too.

Natsu: Haah~ n___n See! If hitting it doesn't work. Just hit it even harder! :3 *pounds fist into his open hand*

Erza: *nods sagely* And if that doesn't work. You're not hitting it hard enough.~

Gray: ...Why do I bother trying.

Makarov: And with that the first team to make it here is Team Na--- *sees only Gray, Lucy, and Happy* Where's Natsu and Erza?

Gray: Flame-brain and Erza got too stoked about the competition they set with another.

Lucy: Yeah @___@

Makarov: ...All they had to do was make it here in three hours. What competition was involved?!

Gray: Somehow...they came to the conclusion that beating all the monsters in the forest would get them bonus points.

Makarov: ...There's nearly 200...all of which are difficult even for one of the Ten Saints.

Lucy: That's what we told them... but *facepalms*

Makarov: ...Then what about the rest of the teams?

Lucy: They uh...

~~In the forest~~

Natsu: Fire King Dragon's Demolition fist! *blows a fraction of the forest away*

Erza: Requip-Heaven's wheel! *demolish's another fraction of the forest*

Natsu: I think we beat like... all of them right?

Erza: Hmm... *crosses arms, pondering* Just to make sure, we should sweep the rest of the forest *nods sagely*

Gajeel: You guys could have TRIED to not get us caught up in the crossfire! >______>X

Natsu: Can't hear you! Too busy racking up bonus points!

Erza: Natsu! Wait for me >___>

~~Three hours later~~

Natsu: And that's how we beat down every monster in this forest n_____n

Erza: *smirks* indeed, it was a hardened task, but it was a one easily accomplished by the two of us.

Everyone: @____@ *all burnt and exhausted*

Makarov: ...

Lucy: You guys...I-...I think he's gone pale D:

Gray: *facepalms* Considering they destroyed the entire forest I'm not surprised.

Stuff

People always fight over ‘canon’ or ‘non-canon’ or ‘crackship’ and its like... its so weird. A lovely friend of mine told me something.

because I ship “Original Character x Chiaki Nanami”

Because ‘OC x FC’ is usually seen as childish...or something.

But like @-@....

Chiaki Nanami is an ‘Original Character’. AKA ‘Someone elses OC’

In fact. A lot of the series we watch or read... they’re just ‘OCs’ that are people get paid for making stories of for others to read. Has no one read a comic book? They get rebooted, and the same character can have 6514584365842142578141 differing origins and life styles. Hell. Barry Allen was so messed with he didn’t even KNOW he originally had a happier life before RF screwed it up.

Hasn’t anyone else made a character for stories? Had their friends read it? Teachers. Other people? I have. Loads. 

And you know what? They don’t always like the ships I put in either.

People make doujinshi’s... of non-canon ships. Or even crackships. And THOSE get published. Have none of you read cross over stuff? :O 

Fairy Tail x Yankee-kun to Megane-chan/Seven Deadly Sins happened

Cross overs happen alot and guess what. They’re between different authors and their own ‘OCs’

So. How is people fight each other over ships in the same fandom? 

I dabble in possibilities, because isn’t that what stories should do in the first place? Inspire you? reading or watching something is meant to ‘give you’ something. To instill and birth a story you either love or hate. but. 

Haven’t you ever thought otherwise? Haven’t you wanted to clear a plot-hole or ‘what-ifs’?

Why else do people write? Why do people draw? Because they’re inspired. They have a passion. They have imagination. Individuality. We can express our imaginations for others to read.

So. Why is there ‘such’ a desire to just bash on others? Why can’t we just live to express our passions?

I have sweet and lovely friends. I talk about them a lot.

My friend loves hinanami, naezono, Makoto x Mukuro. but you know what? :O he makes me Makoto x Chiaki pics. makes me Makoto x Junko...x Kyoko. He even loves Sonia x Souda, but he makes me Sonia x Gundham pics >_<

Even accepts my OC x Chiaki and plays with them in our stories. (Though I feel bad xD...)

Doesn’t make me submit to his ships. Or force me to accept them in the stories we make. I do it because it’s what he likes :O He doesn’t say ‘no. Chiaki needs to be with ___” but. he lets me ‘cause we have fun.

Isn’t that enough? To have fun? :3 To enjoy the things that make us happy?

Nee-san always told me. To focus on the happy things when you can. Because in the end you want to associate things with happiness right? 

**rolls** Canon shouldn’t be what ‘other people’ tell us what ‘to believe’. But what ‘we make for ourselves’.

I like Makoto x Kyouko but even I would rewrite Dangonronpa 1 to make it happen ‘for me’. in fact, I have as many headcanons of Dangan ships as Junko has personalities :p so like... infinite. XD

Junko: Upupu~ Hope? What hope is left for you out in the real world? The Togami Empire **is destroyed**. The **World is in ruins**. Even Kirigiri-san's Father risked everything to protect you~ **There is no Hope! Only Despairrr~**

Makoto: OBJECTION!

Junko: Nnghhh!! DD

Aoi: He's right! Together we can rebuild this world! n__n

Junko: Nnngaahhh!!! *has been hit by every statement* W-What are you!? You're supposed to be the **Ultimate Lucky Student**!

Makoto: ...That's where you're wrong! I am.... *Loads 'Ultimate Hope' bullet* the Ultimate Hope! *fires off the final shot*

Kyouko: Ngh! What...

Yasuhiro: !!! Whats... Wrong with her?! She's going to be executed!

Junko: Haaaa~~ That's right... the ultimate punishment befitting...the [Ultimate Despair]... *swirly eyes*...

Makoto: W-wait! You don't have to go through with it! I mean!

Junko: Ooohhhh I want to~ *drools, maddening crazy eyes* Despaiirr... Don't be gentle with me~ Make me feel even MORE despairrr~~~
