“Just what Maman told me,” Meg makes a face, Which - admittedly, is not a lot. Deceptively simple, the details of this case. The things that have happened seemed like any other haunting, only on a somewhat larger scale, since it was occurring in an opera house. Suddenly all the normal hallmarks of a mischievous poltergeist - knocking over things, pranks, sightings in the middle of the night - were all the more dangerous. Sets were dropped. Haunting singing echoed from the dressing rooms. A letter arrived monthly, demanding a salary and a whole opera box, reserved for the ghost. The managers were expectedly ruffled. Still - if Maman had sent for them, instead of staying herself, it cannot have been too dangerous. 

“Why? Do you sense something?” Question falls from lips before she can stop and think better of it. She scrunches up her face, wrinkling her nose. “Ah - never mind. I don’t think I actually want to know. We have to live here for the next few weeks, don’t we?”

       “have you heard anything else about this ‘haunting’, meg?” there was this inextricable worry about this investigation that she never had on any other hunt they had done. the two friends, near sisters, had seen all sorts of specters in differing shapes and forms and yet….there was something about this case that set her on edge. they hadn’t even yet set foot in the opera house and yet somehow she knew that this case might be their undoing if they weren’t careful. cautious in every turn and thought. simply staring at the outside of the opulent opera left her unnerved in a way she hadn’t felt before. fingers thumbed through the letters sent by the managers of the opera requesting their help. slowly they had begun to gain a reputation, but the managers demanded absolute anonymity and privacy with this considering the scandal to be gained with their employment at the opera.

“i feel as though the managers have left some aspect out of their letter.” they talked of shadows, but she felt like it was far darker than a shadow. darker than anything they had encountered before.
