These attempts to historicize living people have enabled non-Natives to distance ourselves from the consequences of colonial…

What You Need To Know About DC's Food Deserts
What You Need To Know About DC’s Food Deserts
by Cecilia Mencia
It’s hard to believe that just a few neighborhoods down from the White House are communities that are struggling against hunger. “Food hardship” and “food insecurity” are terms that unfortunately describe too many households in the district. If people don’t have access to adequate healthy food, they’ll become undernourished and suffer from poor health.
“Food Desert” refers to a…

The dictionary defines the word miscegenation as a marriage or cohabitation and all that it encompasses — sexual relations, and/or procreation — between two people of different racial groups. In the U.S., it’s most closely associated with the laws governing relationships between a black person and a white person. For many couples prior to 1967,

In a city where politics can be divisive, Pink Floyd's Roger Waters wasn't holding back his in classic Pink Floyd style. Water's concert at the Verizon Center tonight was a strong commentary on President Trump and our global political condition. A fit 73, Waters strutted the stage remarkably like a 20 year old. If you're familiar with the girl group, Lucius, they had the daunting task of singing back up. Beautifully produced, the show included a chorus of children singing and dancing to "The Wall," as well as, a flying pig blimp. Confetti with the message "RESIST" was saved for the finale. Hands down one of the best concerts in DC this summer. #verizoncenter #rogerwaters #music #politics #trump #pinkfloyd #concert #washingtondc #dcculture #culture #resist #dctrending #dcconcerts (at Verizon Center)
