I need people to understand that sammy was NOT being mean to yaz. She was being (RIGHTFULLY) salty (forgive my wording) towards Brooklynn. The only thing mean she said was calling yaz a coward for going to Wyoming for mental health purposes.

Oh, also, congratulations to Yasammy for being the Very Rare Final-Act-Breakup to not have it be for stupid reasons.

There's no miscommunication.

There's no overhearing-only-half-the-conversation.

There's no "Just talk to me! Wait! Please! Just listen!" forced frustration.

No falsified letter that Character A refuses to consider is fake.

No "SHE WAS WORKING FOR ME THE WHOLE TIME" "no only at first!" villainous meddling.

Most of these tropes are, ironically, very much present, but they're also very strategically structured...and it's a whole third character responsible for all of this.

Yaz and Sammy, though? They talk about things. They work out what's happening. They discuss their feelings, they're honest, they trust each other, they take all the time they can in the brief few hours they're allowed to think things through.

And it's Just Not Enough.

There was no cheating or trickery or long-odds gimmicks that tore them apart. They fought their hardest and did their best, and it wasn't enough. It was a fair fight.

The problem was that their enemy was years of trauma and abandonment and earlier mistakes.

It absolutely baffles me that SOME people DONT realize that Sammy are also mentally ill. Like Sammy HALLUCINATED Brooklynn and yall are like "She's the most stable camp fam member!!" or they just dont care because, suprise suprise, most of these people are Yazji shippers (not all yazji shippers are like this btw, some of then are actually really nice!) and immediately assume Sammy over reacted for no reason.

Absolutely love that @lookslikevespa comic where Yaz and Sammy are angsting about each other because they're Inevitable and they Cannot Escape Each Other.

Just a pure embrace of them being Soulmates in the midst of all the Chaos that keeps driving them apart and forcing them back together. They want each other more than anything in the world, but the world won't let them be happy, but when they're apart, they're vulnerable and miserable, because they are happy together and perfect for each other, but that doesn't make their relationship perfect.

The energy of "Ugh, I guess I have to be HAPPY with my SOULMATE" as a response to trauma, a full-on admission of PTSD and Survivor's Guilt, where they're both tied to one another's Greatest Wounds but there's no time machine to undo everything that happened.

Only a few months until we see what their Grand Finale has in store.
