Tommy the Atomic Robot, Vintage toy robot, 1980s
Tommy didn't do much. Switch Tommy on and he moved in small circles, bumping into objects. I liked to play Tommy in the dark. The dark accentuated Tommy’s glowing eyes.
Tommy was one of the first toys which offered customisation. His arms could be moved into position and his hands held a grip to carry a toy gun or object.
I suspect there were other versions of Tommy that came later, which included extra buttons that performed new feats of entertainment.

Graffiti hunting, Malaysia, 2017
Deep, in the far beyond alleys and one way streets hung pieces of majesty created by artists. Some political in subject but more often expressions of love and hope left for loved ones.
It was our job to find, decode and document each one of these pieces. This is graffiti hunting.
I would sit in the back seat and give directions to my father. He sat at the wheel, patiently taking instruction from his childhood son.The location of the graffiti handed to me like divine visions.
Only those who persevered would find them.
I would stand humbly before them and marvel. The colour, and the message. I would scribe furiously each piece into a note pad. There was time enough later to savour their intricacy and decode the message.

Cap gun tape

They came on a real. The hammer of the cap gun strikes the gun powder. Love the smell each time a cap is ignited.

Starcursor joystick, Commodore 64
Starcursor joystick made home C64 feel arcade. No other joystick could compare to the experience of a Starcursor. The unit would sit in your hand comfortably or lock to a table surface via suction pads.
Two fire buttons on the body and another at the head of the stick. Easy to configure settings located on under belly. At the time it retailed for twice the price of a competitor. Worth every penny.

Vendetta, beat ‘em up arcade game, 1990s
Of the four characters to chose from, I preferred with Boomer or Hawk. Watching this video I appreciate why my friend David Ngo and I played this arcade everyday after school.
Choice of weapons to pick up including a shotgun, objects you could throw at the enemy and special moves. The colours borrowed a street graffiti palette.

Red front doors, UK
It takes courage to live with a red door. Red signifies activity and energy. The owner is confronted by red each time he or she leaves or returns home.
