Everyone say “thank you, Shubble”
And, if you’ve got time, I would say that while we should be worrying about deplatforming an abuser, supporting Shubble is really what’s most important!
I recommend watching a few of her videos to give her that boost! You can throw a like and a comment her way. Remember that content creation is a job and we can contribute even if just a little.
Her recent hide and seek video featuring Gem, Jimmy, Lizzie and Scott is incredibly cozy, her SOS video is cute and for a series that’s just barely started, both her empires seasons are solid (one link because they’re on the same playlist), her Witchcraft smp series is fun! She has a bunch of videos on other assorted games, and a small AITA podcast series featuring HBomb!
Send all the love to Shelby! Let’s put our time where our hearts are 💗

i just rbed a post about a comparison between the pjo adaptation and the atla adaptation and, as someone who thoroughly enjoyed and critiqued the pjo adaptation, and as someone who has only seen snippets of the new atla and people's reactions (so this is based on that and is my general opinion!!!)-- i think it's safe to say you can see the impact of not having input from the original creators.
all of the changes made in pjo were done with the author's input, and even in some instances, encouraged by him. now, were all the changes perfect? no! did they help move the story in a way that made sense for the audience, both for book readers and new people? YES!
additionally, in the pjo adaptation, the characters themselves did not fundamentally change-- percy's fatal flaw is still loyalty, annabeth's is still her pride, and the show does a good job of showing us those character details rather than telling us!! (there are some instances where they do more telling rather than showing, but different rant for a different time)
what i've gathered from the atla adaptation, especially in regards to most of the characters, is that they've stripped away fundamental character stories for the sake of appealing to a different audience. the biggest examples i can think of is aang's lack of his carefree nature, as well as MUCH of katara's rage (and feminine rage, which also has to do with how they changed sokka, but again, that is a different rant for a different time), and from what i understand, suki's character development as well
these characters arcs last throughout the entire series, and culminate at different points and conclude with the story-- something that it seems that the adaptation chose to ignore.
i still might pirate watch the show in my own time, but at the moment, from everyones initial reactions, it truly looks like the creators made the right choice to walk away from it, especially if they saw all of this coming

Percy Jackson was a flawed but heartfelt adaptation that made changes in order to expand on the themes and character arcs of the story.
Avatar is a skin deep, soulless simulacrum that excels in the visuals but completely fails in adapting the characters and their journey.

ok i actually can't sleep if i dont rant into the void about this so here's my thoughts: to all the people (mainly on tiktok) who complained and bitched and moaned about the changing of the deadline and the fact that they "failed" the quest-- how does it feel to be WRONG. (/j)
percy and luke have always been each others foils, always. additionally, we know that this adaptation has explored percy's love for his mom the one who raised him, over the gods- he literally says "i'm sally jackson's son" to two immortal beings, because the gods have never been there for him.
luke takes advantage of that. he tells percy the truth, because it is true, the gods don't care about them, and sees so much potential in him. he never wanted to be percy's enemy, and he likely would have succeeded in recruiting percy had percy not "failed" his quest!!
if luke had asked the percy who had never seen his father even show so much as a sign that he cared to join him right at the beginning, i wholeheartedly believe percy would've joined him. at the beginning of the story, percy hates the gods because they've never done anything for him, so why should he do anything for them?
but then, he goes on this quest, and he gets to experience the ways his father does care about him, however distant they are. poseidon saves him, tells him to go to santa monica, and even though at that point they had already "failed", he still gets help!!!
if they hadn't missed the deadline and indirectly caused an entire WAR, the gravity of poseidon stepping in to save percy again would mean nothing!! poseidon, notorious, jealous brother, immediately surrenders and begs zeus not to hurt his son. he claims percy, and makes sure zeus knows that his pride, his glory means nothing in comparison to caring for his son.
and THAT is why it they changed the deadline. if percy hadn't seen his father surrender an entire war just to protect him, he likely would've gone with luke, or at the very least, be swayed. but he saw Poseidon end a war to ensure his safety- so of course he's gonna see that they're trying their best. he saw it in hermes, too- the gods trying to make amends and right their wrongs.
i truly do think this change really drives the narrative forward, both the overarching plot AND percy and luke as foils, especially given how they have explored this adaptation. so yeah, this change was good

Percy not thinking anyone is gonna save him from Zeus but Poseidon showing up. Poseidon surrendering to Zeus, and Percy in the background in awe because this is the first time he's actually seen his father

percy immediately apologizing to luke after he hurts him even though he is literally being betrayed because his fatal flaw is loyalty and he cannot fathom hurting the people he cares about… meanwhile luke turning around and hitting percy back without hesitation… i feel sick

can we talk about percy uncovering luke’s true intentions and luke coming clean about wanting to recruit percy as a powerful ally and percy obviously refusing despite sympathizing with the cause because he’s just better than that leading to them dueling, with luke about to strike percy down when annabeth’s blade, the one luke gifted her, the same cursed blade that’ll reap his soul 3 years from now, sealed with the promise of family and new beginnings, knocking backbiter out of luke’s hands, and luke turning to stare at her with the most heartbroken, torn expression on his face and annabeth staring him down with more venom than any pit scorpion could’ve had.
can we talk about annabeth standing in the clearing watching the only man she loves, someone who made a promise to protect her and always have her back, someone she’s known for 5 years, looming over a boy she met mere weeks ago, someone who, despite a godly rivalry getting in the way of their initial friendship, fought for her and saved her and chose her over himself time and time again…can we talk about how the defiance in her gaze made it very clear to luke that the person he’s closest to would choose percy over him every time

REMEMBER WHEN I SAID THAT THE DEADLINE CHANGE ADDS MORE DEPTH TO THE STORY AND CHARACTERS???????? I WAS RIGHT!!!!!!!!
honestly im so curious as to who the fourth pearl is for, we know it's not gonna be sally ("hold fast, mom" was the giveaway, plus there sounds like a lot of percy trying to or wanting to sacrifice himself again so im guessing they're missing a pearl/the pearl is for someone else potentially) so i'm very curious. i'm not that mad about the changes they made either (the solstice having passed, i think adds a little more depth to the story and the characters) i'm just curious as to how this effects everything now. i'm choosing to have faith that rick knows what he's doing since the changes he's made between the book and series have all been changes i've personally enjoyed, and changes he seemed to want to explore since writing the original book

"Why do the kids in the show know everything about Greek Myths"
Well idk if I was told my parent was a Greek God and that put a target on my back for Monsters/Titans/Other God's to use to kill me, I'd learn everything I can! To Demigod's myths are lists of ways they could die, so it's in their best interest to learn them.

The match. That fucking match. The rain. The undeniable chemistry and beauty between them. This show is a masterpiece of romance and despair and hope, all contained in a match. It’s literally an old flame.

do you- do you think that maybe, sometimes when Sally's feeling sad or overwhelmed she makes an offering and Poseidon sends rain to let her know she's not alone?
