Inversion
It's funny how things change
Faster than the blink of an eye
You might not ever know why
Even though it was worth the while
Can't yet look back and smile
With a gash still open wide
Clasped another double-edged sword
Cleaning and dressing the wound
Harder to do when not seeing straight
Wanting to not look back but unable to refrain
Masochism must be a claim to fame
Pain shadows every stunted move
Melancholy tainting every day
Sometimes for the better but still
It's sad how things change

I'm thinking of leaving a relationship...it's just not what I want anymore.
Gave it a good college try
Not all fits are made to last
Growing and stretching can happen
Time must have wings, how it flies!
Honor what was real, sacred memories
Say goodbye if it's not too far to reach
Embrace the shared one last time
Then chart your own path once again
Diverging to a single lane road
Windows down, blaring favorite songs
Steer until all becomes clear
Landmarks and guideposts leading where
You're meant to go, alone unless
Joining another fellow traveler
Try to savor the wind in your hair
Finding joy whenever you can
Out on the open unbroken road

Hello. I like your poetry. I especially enjoy hearing you read your words.
Tumblr media
Thank you, doll. That's very sweet of you. I really appreciate the kind words. And I'm glad you enjoy my voice. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime though I can't make any promises, at the moment I am not at all in the right headspace for spoken word.

Thank you for the tag @betterthannonfiction 🤗
Mine are:
The first poem I memorized and recited way back in 4th grade, "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer. The one that starts "I think that I shall never see, a poem lovely as a tree"
"To her cheshire smile, I'll stand on file, she's all I ever wanted" - Manfred Mann's Earth Band, "For You"
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means" - Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride
Currently it's probably "love", gets stuck in my head more than anything lately

One line in a movie
A word you'll avoid for fear of over-usage
One word that is you, metaphorically (no explanation)

"Drink the wine that moves you as a camel moves when it’s been untied, and is just ambling about." - Rumi

Im in love with four people in four different ways. But im only dating one of them because the rest are unreachable. One's my teacher (im a legal adult), other one friendzoned me but months later told me he still loves me, the last one is in rehab due to drug addiction .
I'm still learning
Life brings me to my knees
Yet love lifts up
Comforting with warmth
All my heart contains
Expanding and expending
For those speaking to it directly
Who have a key and keep a fire lit
Make themselves at home
Embroidered into the very fabric
Woven through the warp and weft
Having me yearn for their charms
With every breath I feel closer
To finding a home of my own
An embracing space I belong
Enwrapped in supportive arms

I think I like a mutual friend if it is what I think it is, then this one will be the second person ever that I've laid my eyes upon :)
Fascination to fantasies
Say you'll take a chance on me
Been fancy-free and now
I want to dance with somebody
Who moves to the same beat
On light as air feet, grooving in time
Floating along the street
Growing closer in glowing harmony
Grand steps tried with grace
A taste of whirlwind
Yet in the pocket of familiarity
Still passion plays across the floor
Dip me, darling, and grant me
Endless encores

Foraging in the forest, harvesting from the wild.
Nature's nectar
Tastes sweetest when shared
So won't you take my searching hand
Let's reap rewards of the open land
Laid breathtakingly bare

Poetic Secrets
Send me your secrets as an ask (anon is on of course) and I'll make a poem out of it.

Unflappable
Speakeasy muffled
Left the password at the door
Yet barred entry
It changed, everything
Bootleg black heart market
Sold one and got back pennies
Warped and corroded
Carotid arteries clogged
Heavy artillery decorating
Erstwhile mysterium distillery
Trigger happy punch drunk
Someone once dared speak of love
Danced a whole marathon through
Until I only sang the blues
Dry rot dropped me through the floor
Putting pieces back together
Takes trial and error and reminders
That certain reminders must go
Down the garbage shoot
Pulverized to dust and blown away
Yesterday is no more, tomorrow
Will be here before long...so long
Crashed tin lizzies cause fizzy dizzies
And I'm not tipsy on you anymore
Inspired by this ask prompt from @iamraineyy

Js saw ur post about if we send you something you'll turn it into a poem... I finally got rid of everything from my last two relationships that were toxic.
Hey there, no worries! I often take a while to respond to asks, especially these days. I tried my best to do your prompt justice. I'll be posting the poem separately, following this. I hope you like the direction I took it in. And big congratulations to you, so happy to hear you are healing beautifully! 🤗

I spent the day waiting for a text back. He responded 26 hours later. Said work was crazy but he's been online on instagram every hour today (I checked because I missed him) In these 26 hours I convinced myself it's over and I won't date for a few months once he has the guts to be honest about cutting ties :) I don't know. He met my parents and they love him. But I don't know if I do. How do you make a poem out of this mess?
Markedly out of touch
Enmeshed meddling parents
Bestowing their blessing
Mind and heart undisciplined
Messy without further reflection
Do I want what I think I want
Because it's expected I should?
Or is my desire there too
Somewhere beneath the rubble?
Bubble up to the surface, truth
Guide me intently through tension
Fit to be tied, tired of fumbling
Feeling like a bumbleheaded fool
Perhaps I'm waiting for permission
But there's freedom in stumbling
Without always seeking forgiveness

I fell asleep crying
Awaken with a smile
Life doesn't make sense
Emotions running buck wild
Day and night dreams take flight
So many scenes painted
Behind eyes closed or wide
Open to the possibilities
Or maybe fishing for fantasies
Day to day gets lost in a daze
A haze of have-tos and musts
Is it better to have the mettle
Rust or dry out to dust?

Chapped lips
Frigid kiss
Lips dried out
From bliss to chills
Heated thrills cooled
Creating creases cracking
There's a balm around here
I just know there is if only
It were where it's always been
Restore warmth to this skin
Mouth tingling for a silky glide
Salve me again

How was/is your day?
Send an ask (can always be anon if you'd like) telling me something about your day, and I'll turn it into a poem. Nothing is too mundane or trivial, really. So no matter how your day went or is going, you are guaranteed a poetic day. 😊

Forced to stay still
There's room
But not for me
Shoved on the shelf
A fate decided
By higher powers
Who placed the
Bookends
With slapdash hands
Where I'll build
Spiders their castles
In a dust mote
Promised land
Collaboration with the brilliant @lithium-late-nights//prompt: bookends
