i think that dream would definitely misinterpret technos friendship and kindness as romantic advances... dream gets really in his head about it. he doesnt mean to make moments alone with techno so weird but its like, he can't fathom safety not having a price. he feels like he owes techno something, or that techno must be expecting something in return eventually. the logical part of him just wants to work for the syndicate but when theyre alone together and techno is just being nice theres this parasite in dreams head that tells him techno wants something more out of their relationship. but he figures that is probably not true at all. but it still makes everything very. *gestures vaguely*

and on the more emotional hand, dream hasn't had close personal relationships with anyone but his son and sam for a really really really long time. he misreads social cues and makes up things in his head to justify techno's kindness as being a logical thing and not an emotional one. he really appreciates techno being kind to his children and i think he is just really unsure of how to process it, or where to put this positive emotion in his head. he likes watching techno play with his kids. is this indicative of romantic feelings? <- forgot what having a best friend feels like

i think its definitely like. possible for them to be involved way way later down the line but i think techno is smart enough to understand like. dream needs time. and if dream ever flirted or tried to kiss i thnk techno would be smart enough to understand dream doesnt fully mean it

i still want to write a little drabble about this ending but im about to get crazy busy so it might not happen crying emoji but i want it to very bad

Ok, I recently wrote an essay [here] talking about the definition and duties of civil engineering as well as the ethics because of the brain rot @swordfright gave me with calling Dream Sam’s ultimate engineering project. So, because I actually am a civil engineer I took it upon myself to design the title and summary of quantities sheets just like I do at work for roads but with Dream as the project instead. And in honor of angst day sponsor by @sixteenth-day-event, I figured I’d share it because I feel like it kinda works for the prison of the mind prompt.

“Sam’s “ultimate engineering project” he deemed too damaged like a bumpy road or crumbling building that wasn’t worthy of patching and filling in the cracks or reinforcing, that’s too eroded to be fixed and preserved. So, Sam strived to tear him down to the bedrock so he could remake, remold, and reengineer Dream according to his design for the common safety, public health and well-fair.”

{These are very similar to the actual sheets I make day to day, which I shall not share for the sake of doxing my location, but yea pretty much everything has a significance. Some of it doesn’t necessarily make sense but that was because I was more so taking inventory of what we see in lore (so you know I counted ;) lol)}

BadBoyHalo talked about the cut Dream SMP finale on stream and elaborated a bit more on the Egg's part in it (Eret also showed the script of the finale here already). The idea would have been that DreamXD would restart the server cycle whenever massive events happened, which caused people to lose most of their memories. The Egg itself was a creation of the endless timelines and not of DreamXD and was able to feel whenever the cycle reset again, which would make it lose its power and influence. Bad had a headcanon that DreamXD pulled in people from different timelines and universes so they could be his playthings.

BADBOYHALO: Basically, the Egg is a creature that was created within the Dream SMP— So, this—mind some of this is, like, my headcanon. That was planned on being, like, actually brought out into the lore. But the way that the Dream SMP, like, headcanon universe existed. Like the canon that we were going for, like, the ending. The original ending we were having planned…. was to have it end with the revealing that DreamXD was this— You could look at him as the god of the universe that everybody had existed in. And that what would happen was, canonical massive events, like nukes going off and things like that, would reset the cycle.

The way that the server was gonna work out, was there was gonna be like a massive attack on DreamXD. Where they were gonna go to the End and confront him. And upon confronting and trying to kill DreamXD, they were going to get to the point where they were going to potentially beat him. But right before beating him, they were going to kill him— or try to kill him, but he would reset the cycle.

Basically, my sort of headcanon within the Dream SMP universe, is that it was all— People from various timelines and universes and places would essentially be pulled in by DreamXD in order to be his playthings. Basically put into this universe specifically so that DreamXD could mess with them.

And so the reason for like, in the Eggpire arc, the characters' memories of like previous lives and things like that, is because they had all existed to some degree or another. So they had all essentially lived multiple lives within this specific universe. Within what you would say is the Dream SMP universe.

So the Egg is a creation not of DreamXD, but of the endless timelines. So essentially the Egg is trapped in this never-ending cycle of constantly feeling the timeline shift. And every time the timeline gets reset, the Egg gets re-buried and has to be rediscovered in order to continue its influence. Essentially Sam Bucket was trapped—

So the Egg is immune to the cycles. But the cycle resets the whole world. So basically, when the cycle resets, the Egg is reburied, re-gone, it's in a different spot again. It loses its power. And essentially DreamXD would reset the cycle when certain things happened. Where, like, the universe would become corrupted. The Egg would at some points take control. And try and, like, go crazy and brainwash people, etc, etc, etc.

What would have happened is, when DreamXD resets— So you basically had the nuke going off, and you had the Egg being confronted at the same time happening as the other group would have been attacking DreamXD. So DreamXD gets attacked again, and that's when it resets. So the cycle gets reset at some point. And that would have led into Dream SMP season 2. So that's essentially what was the plan before Dream SMP season 2 never happened.

There were essentially tons and tons of cycles that were happening. And that's why you had people who had multiple memories. Could remember, like, past lives. Because every time DreamXD would reset the cycle, it wouldn't necessarily everything.

One of the things that make me sad about c!discduo it's that they could have been good friends if they talked things more. You could see it in the moment when they weren't fighting or trying to hurt each other, they could have. I think that's one reason the end it's when them talking. They realized there was still a chance of fix things and literally died seconds after

youre giving me "they could have been good friends if they talked things more" and ill give you back this thought to chew on: "they were friends, and even decent friends, who did talk to each other (not enough, frankly, but that's unfortunately true of Literally Every Single One Of c!Dream's Relationships Ever) and managed to deal with their conflicts in a pretty okay manner until vassal"

yeah also one of the reasons i always thought ctommy thought cdream was his only Friends that was still there on exile wasn't just bc of the insolation but bc they didn't have a horrible relationship. Like to that point they argued and not always got along but they relationship wasn't that Bad so i always thought that was one of the reasons ctommy was more keen to consider cdream a friend there, yeah insolation was a factor but not the only one

i mmmmmean? idk lol pogtopia and the stresses (often not directly related to c!dream and c!tommy's relationship directly, but sure had that relationship bearing most of the weight) on both characters and that leading into the spirit speech and conflict there means i'd say that their relationship was a lot more strained than it'd been for basically their entire history on the server. that being said, on november 16th a specific point of it is made that c!discduo At That Point aren't quite fractured irreparably, considering how they rib each other and watch the sunset together.

when it comes to exile, though, it's like ,,, i think it's true to say that c!tommy and c!dream being friends before affects how c!tommy saw their relationship, yeah. but at the same time like, i feel like exile and c!tommy seeing c!dream "as a friend" was less about actually seeing him "as his friend"--i feel like there's not really much there as far as exile goes where c!tommy like, genuinely idk believing that c!dream means well??? i guess?? like most of what i got out of exile was just c!tommy's already fragile mental state fracturing further and c!tommy feeling like everyone abandoned him, smth c!dream was specifically perpetuating re: clingy, and therefore that he was less convinced of c!dream Being His Friend and more like. being in a really bad state and going Oh My God. All I Have Is Dream.

eh idk how to put this, but idk i think exile is characterized weirdly a lot. c!dream's abuse always felt more targeted at making c!tommy feel like he had no one more than convincing him that c!dream was like, actually a good friend to him
