I’ve always loved art nouveau so I thought I’d try drawing Tutu and Kraehe in the style of art nouveau jewelry. The designs were inspired by the works of Philippe Wolfers and René Lalique.

For Tutu, the wings are based on the wings on her pendant. The plant above her is the ivy, which symbolize love and attachment (as ivys cling to their host tree even after the tree has died). In keeping with the jewelry look, I tried to make her wings look like they’re made of opal, her bracelets are amber, and the pink of her skirt from the shell of a queen conch.

The design for Kraehe took a couple of revisions before I came up with something I was happy with 😅 The wings are inspired by Philippe Wolfers’ swan pendant. The flowers on top are apple blossoms, which symbolize beauty, hope, and love. In keeping with the jewelry theme, the flowers have diamonds for stamen while the leaves and wings are enamel

In New Horizons, the mannequins in the Able Sisters re-use the player model with a few facial features taken off, and being recolored to black. This was likely to make it easier for the developers to interchangeably place clothing on them.

Due to this, they are actually compatible with all of the game's player animations. They're just normally set to only do the mannequin-specific "animations", all of which are just a 1-frame pose. In this gif, I have swapped the poses for the Shrunk Funk Shuffle, demonstrating this quirk.
