#mission to zyxx#we're into like. arms and legs out starfish poses today i notice#um anyway here we have hat of dar. treysta'gramn. tres lonlee and her bff#and pleck doing his sad little taupe clown dance with the little pants in his eyes#there's like warring parts of my brain. one keeps making characters tellurian when there's no evidence to the contrary because it's easier#the other one says no! more different types of alien!#but the thing is I'm not good at doing designs and coming up with stuff#yet i still want to draw... but drawing is so much easier when i have a design to copy... egh. oh well

#my art#mission to zyxx#pleck decksetter#kor balevore#c-53#dar mtz#aj-2884#this is a shoutout to you 318 one of the best and my favorite episodes#not a depiction of any scene directly i don't think but you get the vibes#i was listening to it and I pictured this composition with kor reaching out through the portal and i thought that would be cool#but I also thought I needed to at least attempt more dramatic coloring and lighting and shading than I usually do#this thing kicked my butt#also my ipad's butt#i was not done messing with it but the thing crashed like 3 times and screwed up the original file with all the layers#sooooo that's super cool#i have not tried anything this complex before so it took a stupid amount of hours#because i was trying to figure out so much as I went along#it definitely should not have taken as long as it did but hey we learned things!#for example: i learned how to do the color burn layer on the shadows to spice them up. never done that before#update: i fixed the file yayy

#mission to zyxx#pleck decksetter#my art#everyone who's ever drawn him with a gaptooth you're so smart and correct#powerline if you see this yes that includes you specifically#i'm working on a bigger thing that may see the light of day at some point#i came up with a composition i thought was cool but progress is slow cause a) i don't draw a lot#and b) i JUST got my hands on my sister's busted hand me down ipad so digital is still relatively newish territory for me#i'm having a ton of fun with that thing#but i've never done a ton besides flat color/cel shading bc most digital i've done is with mouse or phone so i'm like wagh how to add drama#and i also don't usually have the attention span for much besides sketches + simple coloring (cause coloring is fun)#also. when i started trying to figure out how i wanted to draw zyxx characters i was like hm i should lean older and nastier#less round and cutesy#(there's a loooot of sketches I have just not put on tumblr and will not probably)#but as you can see I have thrown that to the wind. my style looks like that cause drawing round and cutesy brings me joy. even adult men.#sue me idk

#my art#mission to zyxx#C-53#pleck decksetter#dar mtz#ok time for some of my appearance headcanons#i was just gonna give c little dot eyes but i was goofing around with the doodle#and i was like. oh actually little light up ocular sensors that look like 👁️👁️ are kinda funny#i'm kinda trying to hit the space where the juck bot frame could conceivably have the same inner workings as the c frame#but it's got more like. idk plating and synthetic skin and stuff#i also think that ideally this type of frame is supposed to be more fully covered? with skin. less visible joints#and is supposed to have a cooler better looking face#but they got it at a discount store that sorta refurbished it juuuuuuust well enough to sell#they also mention in the show that the eyes glow and the jaw comes off#if there were any other details i forgot about them#i like tellurians to be Pretty Much Human#but I do like the pointy ears interpretation for one main reason:#i can put perfect little pointy ones on tellurians that are the Standard for good looks (rolphus etc.)#and give pleck ones that are slightly larger and a little bent. i just think that's fun#i'm also a short pleck truther and do not believe he is skinny. that man is at least midsized. actually probably just midsized#cause if he were too big he would be too cool#ohh and first time drawing the k'hekk eye yayyyy. it should probably be nastier but i can only do so much#dar i really imagine round cause it's like the classic Big Guy shape and they have no bones in their head so it can't be that structured#bodywise my design is def inspired by tikkitronictonic and snuffysbox's designs#i was at a total loss on how to interpret the talons and chutes and flaps when I was listening and this is easy and smooth#maybe the only major difference is that i imagine dar is pretty hygienic and furry scales feel like they'd be hard to keep clean#with all the uh. goings on#so i've got those across the chest and arms and then the torso is smoother in my mind#also ik dar is supposed to be like twice pleck's size but it's hard to stand these people next to each other#my brother said they made up a thing called mass shifting in transformers g1 to excuse the scale issues. so i'll do it too. get off my case

I was just trying to figure out how I want to draw everybody but I had L04 on and it turned into the bit at the end
#mission to zyxx#it was just supposed to be a quick scribble but then i colored it#and i had a horrible time trying to figure out timelines#bc the mullet thing happened mid s1 as far as i can tell#but then alden apparently said the hair rejected him or smth#and this was between s1 and s2 so I just drew him like s1 pleck#(no stubble-alliance haircut)#but i still don't know how i feel about that#ooh and i forgot gap teeth here but i'm still debating that#pleck's base design and dar's design i feel pretty good about in terms of how i imagine them#nermut's is okay too though I need to work on angles#in my head he looks Kermit-ish. not cause the names rhyme. he just exudes that energy#c-53 i have no clue. i think he would've been in the enforcer frame here#and i suck at robots#so he kinda looks like someone was operating off a loose memory of shockwave from transformers#(because that's what happened)

So this was the first thing I drew and posted that got a lot of notes, and it made me really happy at the time, but someone in the notes said his expression looked like he poisoned the cookies and I don't think they were entirely wrong. XD Anyway, I wanted to draw on my phone today, and I redrew it even though we're nowhere close to Christmas. Despite the pixelly lineart, I think I've improved!
