Hey, guys! I’m sharing some links to my friend’s DeviantArt, and also her Patreon (found here: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=44093430).
She’d really appreciate your support! She does fanart for DuckTales, How to Train Your Dragon, Asterix and Obelix, and she also does a lot of cool architectural stuff!

So Goldie’s been living rent-free in my head for a while.
Tumblr media
Personally I blame the movie Forrest Gump. I got on this kick of watching first-time reactions to Forrest Gump on YouTube (and by the way, did you know you can tell a lot about a person’s heart by their first reaction to Jenny?). Some of the comments on those videos were very inciteful, too.
Anyway, I’ve noticed some similarities between Jenny and Goldie’s behavior and now I’ve constructed this whole tragic backstory for her that I don’t wanna go into too much detail about here since this is supposed to be a safe blog as relatively trigger-free as possible (speaking of, I think I’ll put a seizure trigger warning on this because of one of the gifs), but anyway I’m pretty convinced Goldie was abused as a child, which would explain...
1. Her fear of vulnerability
Tumblr media
(Sorry, this gif doesn’t have subtitles.) There are times when Goldie starts to let her guard down with Scrooge, just a little, and then she immediately puts her walls back up. Moonstoneflowers brought this up to Frank a few years ago.
Tumblr media
2. Her preference to be in the lead
Tumblr media
Goldie grew up in a time when men were in charge of everything. If a man close to her had abused that power, of course she’d be uncomfortable letting a man lead anything, even dances, and she’d prefer a brand of chivalry that let her be in control.
3. Her avoidance of domestic life
Tumblr media
Settling down would mean entrusting her life to a man. Divorce laws were stricter way back when, and women often relied on their husbands for financial security. The idea of being financially dependent and legally bound to someone for life who could wind up mistreating her the way someone else had would be terrifying to her.
4. Leaving before she can be left
Tumblr media
Someone made a comment on YouTube about Jenny and how staying in one place for too long would force her to ruminate on her traumatic past, so she was always running from it. I can see this applying to Goldie. She also probably feels like she’s not good enough for Scrooge, and would rather leave before he can reject her and that door gets closed forever. I can also imagine her leaving asap so she doesn’t get caught, but more on her con artist side in a minute.
5. Betraying before she can be betrayed
Tumblr media
Sometimes it feels easier for victims of abuse to keep people at a distance, and as much as Goldie seems to crave closeness, it also scares the crud out of her. Betraying isn’t only a means of financial gain to her, but a way of keeping people who start to care about her from following her, and a way to prevent being hurt again.
6. Occasional violent tendencies
Tumblr media
Sometimes victims of abuse try to regain a sense of lost power by being abusive to others. Other times, it’s just because that was the behavior that was modelled for them and they don’t know what healthy love is supposed to look like.
7. Becoming a con artist
Tumblr media
Single women didn’t have a ton of money-making opportunities in the Victorian era, and certainly very few that would appeal to her. I imagine she’d have run away from home at a young age, and had to start stealing to survive. She probably performed in saloons at some point (since she did in the old comics and I think that’d be a neat nod, like her performance in “The Outlaw Scrooge McDuck!”), but she’d have grown uneasy as drunken men would’ve catcalled her or tried to grab her. Frustrated that even earning an honest living left her vulnerable to sleazy men, she’d go into scamming and prospecting full-time.
And then she’d meet Scrooge.
Tumblr media
(^Favorite Scroldie screencap EVER)
I could go on and on about what likely drew them to each other... you know, besides being stuck in an iceberg and forced to stare at each other for five years... but I think what it came down to is they wanted the same thing at the time: gold. Neither of them felt any pressure to settle down from the other.
Now, Scrooge has more or less “settled down.” He still adventures, but he’s got a family that depends on him who mean more to him than anything. As for Goldie, I think after “The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades!” she’s realized Scrooge is more important to her than anything else she’s been after.
Tumblr media
It seems like after this episode, they were “back on,” so to speak, but in a long-distance relationship. That’s probably what’s most comfortable to her right now. But it was nice seeing her get to the point when she realized what she wanted was a fresh start and to be with Scrooge. I think that was a big step for her.

Tumblr media
Oh hey guys, what’s up?
Shoot dang, I haven’t posted in over a year! But I’m back for a bit because I can’t get Clan McDuck outta my head. XD
D’you think May and June would want to be renamed?
Tumblr media
I can imagine May and June wanting Webby to start going by April so they can all match like triplets, but Webby wouldn’t want that.
She’d explain how she’s grown up with the name Webbigail, and someone who loves her gave her that name.
Tumblr media
Bradford and Heron didn’t love her. They made her just to use her to try and take Scrooge down. And Scrooge is one of her absolute favorite people who ever lived, if not her #1 favorite.
Tumblr media
Plus, Webbigail probably means “a father’s joy,” in this universe since it’s a duck pun on Abbigail.
And I think after Webby explains all this to the girls - that she wants nothing to do with the villains who created her and just wants to be Beakley and Scrooge’s Webbigail, May and June might also want new names (so they can all not-match together).
Tumblr media
Maybe they’d ask Beakley to rename them, but I think Beakley, knowing now who these girls’ father is, would suggest they ask Scrooge, especially since he didn’t get to name is firstborn. And Scrooge would just melt if they asked. He’d put some thought into it, but he wouldn’t take long. I’ve headcanoned that Scrooge has always been fond of the name Emily, and maybe he’s thought if he ever had a daughter, that’s what he’d like to name her. It’s a name that’s been around a while, even in the Victorian era. It’s also become extremely popular in Scotland in recent years.    It has a few meanings, including rival, but it also means striving, industrious, and hard working, which are values of Scrooge’s that he’d want his children to emulate.
I think he’d assign this name to May. She was the more purpose-driven clone, always striving for approval and working hard to accomplish her goals.
Tumblr media
As for little June-bug... well isn’t she just a wee bonnie thing?
Tumblr media
And ye cannae get more Scottish than the name Bonnie!
Bonnie is a Scottish name that means pretty, sweet, and pleasant. June may have had a few less-than-sweet moments while working for F.O.W.L., but F.O.W.L. was of course a bad influence on who is otherwise a very sweet, family-oriented baby bean.
Tumblr media
And it is kind of hard for me to imagine the girls going by these different names since I’ve thought of them as May and June for so long, but I think it’s very possible they’d want to be called something else now that they’re with their family, and the names do suit them.

Okay but now I’m like imagining a scene where Huey runs in all anxious when Fenton and Gandra are having some cutesy science bonding time and tries to tell them something terrible is happening (an overreaction this time) and Gandra pulls a sensory jar with red glitter out of her bag and she’s like “Here. Stare at this,” because he’s third-wheeled on enough of their dates that she starts coming up with ways to distract him when he shows up, and to Huey’s slight annoyance and embarrassment, the jar works and he becomes totally entranced, like he was at that casino water show. And Gandra just turns to Fenton like, “I told you it would work.”

So are they gonna make a movie or a spinoff or something?
There were a few unanswered questions and loose ends when DuckTales ended, but none as obvious as the Darkwing Duck plots.
First, there was the introduction of Negaduck that came to nothing.
Tumblr media
And then Drake promised Gosalyn he’d keep looking for her grandpa, but there wasn’t time left in the series for that to be addressed again.
Tumblr media
We also never quite got to the point where Drake and Gosalyn become dad and daughter.
With Negaduck, people have asked Frank about that. When they asked if Negaduck would come back in Season 3, Frank said no - that there wasn’t time in Season 3 and he had all these big ideas for a Negaduck story he’d like to do that he’d need more time to address properly.
Between the villain cliffhanger, and the loose end with Dr. Waddlemeyer, and LP all set to be Uncle Launchpad, there’s plenty of material to continue this story.
Tumblr media
But will they?
I’ve heard that there is a new Darkwing Duck in the works, but it’s not a spinoff from DT17 with the new Darkwing and Gosalyn we already love. So what’s up with that?
Has anyone heard any rumors? I mean I know Scrooge once said:
Tumblr media
But I can’t help but feel that, while that may be true within DT17, this was the writers’ way of teasing they totally want to make a Darkwing Duck movie if they’re allowed.

GUYS GUYS GUYS
So like Della missed a lot of firsts with her boys - first smiles, first laughs, first time they rolled over, first words...
Tumblr media
Imagine her filling out baby books for May and June now.
Like the fam’s doing their Saturday chores, May and June are learning how to dust, and suddenly June sneezes and she’s never done that before so while she’s freaking out like what just happened to me did my head almost explode Della’s just like, “Awwwww! Baby’s first sneeze! IT’S GOIN’ IN THE BOOK!”

So Penny and LP are friends. She admires him for his earth fighting skills.
But like what if she also admires him because he’s the one person who can annoy Della the way Della annoys her?
Like okay she eventually warmed up to Della, but as Penny reminds Della of Donald, Penny’s on the receiving end of a lot of Della’s little sister antics, so the fact that LP is someone who could get under her skin probably makes Penny admire him that much more.

I noticed something for the first time the other day:
Scrooge appears at the edge of the “mystical fountain,” next to Zeus when Louie goes to demonstrate his new god power.
Tumblr media
But Scrooge wasn’t in the scene before that at all.
In fact, when he does show up (after Louie’s turn and before Huey’s), he seems very surprised to see Zeus in his home.

ANOTHER PERFECT AMV!!! Gotta love it when they match the clips to the lyrics AND the beat.
I already shared this on Twitter, too, and I tagged Lin Manuel Miranda. I hope he sees it, but he probably won’t. TT.TT He probably gets tagged by fans all the time in stuff. But if his reaction to hearing the Hamilton Polka for the first time is any indication, he would absolutely love this.
Heads up for my younger and/or sensitive followers, the medley does have some language in it (it is Hamilton, after all).

Well, I really wanted to write a mini-fic about the moment Scrooge finds out that he is, in fact, Webby’s biological father, and that F.O.W.L. created her to find the Papyrus of Binding for them. After all, Bradford didn’t include those details in his villain speech, and Scrooge probably just figured Webby wanted to start calling him “Dad,” because he’s the closest thing to a father she’s ever known.
Tumblr media
The more I tried to write it, though... I dunno, I couldn’t quite get it the way I wanted. Ever had that happen with a story or a drawing? I feel like I’ve lost my edge, or my style. Maybe I should re-read my old stuff to get back on track. Not only that, but writing a fic focused around a character or characters explaining something to another character we, the audience, already knows, can feel sort of repetitive and cheesy.
At any rate, I wanted to at least share some thoughts I had with you about the kind of scene I imagine.
Putting the Sunchaser/Cloudslayer back together was probably a team effort that took a while, and in that time, Scrooge may have found a moment to ask Webby what made her want to start calling him “Dad.” He doesn’t immediately believe her when she tries to explain. Beakley admits to Scrooge it’s true Webby was a F.O.W.L. creation she rescued, but even she seems shocked at the part about her being made from Scrooge’s DNA. Scrooge asks Webby if this is something she heard from Bradford, but she says she heard it from Ludwig Von Drake. At that point, Scrooge and Beakley scan the courtyard, find him, and take off to question him about it.
Ludwig explains/confirms everything, and as Webby listens to his explanation of Bradford’s plan again and it sinks in just how close he was to succeeding because of her, she grows emotional and tries to apologize to Scrooge. She didn’t mean to help Bradford.
But Scrooge is only half-listening. He’s so overcome with emotion he falls to his knees in the sand in front of her, and begins to see features of his relatives in her face he’s never noticed before... his mother’s forehead, the little wave at the bottom of her short hair like Matilda’s... and as he places his hands on her temples and runs them down her cheeks until he’s cupping her face in his hands, he finally realizes her eyes look just like his did at her age, albeit with fuller lashes.
It’s like he’s seeing her for the first time.
He thinks back to when he did see her for the first time, and how he did feel an instant paternal affection for her, but at the same time, she reminded him too much of Della, and also the great-nephews Donald had taken from him who’d be about her age. It was too painful, and he wound up ignoring Webby for the first ten years of her life.
He and Webby both wind up weepy, sniffly messes of love, regret, and forgiveness as they hug.
And I can only imagine what Della’s reaction would be if she came over to ask what was going on. “Webby’s our... cousin?! WE HAVE A BABY COUSIN?!?!” She’d lift Webby off the ground in a tight hug, swinging her back and forth a little like a ragdoll. “AHH SWEET BABY ANGEL COUSIN!!! Where’s Donald? DONALD! SHE’S OUR COUSIN!!!” And she’d like awkwardly and clumsily walk away still holding Webby so Donald can join in the cousin hugs. And as cute as Scrooge finds her reaction, he’s not quite done absorbing the information himself and would really appreciate it if Della didn’t walk off with Webby just yet. XD
Beakley would be speechless. To think she’d been raising Scrooge’s daughter all this time... it would certainly make sense of a lot of things. But the odds of being the one to find “April,” when she was such a close friend and ally of Scrooge himself... and she went to Scrooge because of who he was to her, not who he was to the baby she found. She didn’t think he was anyone to the baby. But she’d brought Webby straight to her own father and none of them had any idea.
It’s a lot of information for everyone to take in, and they’d all process it in different ways. But regardless of Bradford’s evil scheme, they’re all grateful to have Webby in their lives, and happy for her to have found out the man she’s idolized her whole life is her dad.
Maybe I’ll still be able to write all this out in a proper fic one day, but I just wanted to share my vision at least. I want there to be this sweet parallel between the moment Scrooge finally finds out Webby’s his daughter and the moment Della met Dewey. And I want Louie to be recording the whole thing on his phone. lol

Note that both of them left to suit up at the same time. Fenton had his gear with him. Drake did not. All Fenton had to do was hide somewhere no one would see him for a second and say “Blathering Blatherskite.” Drake probably actually had to go to wherever he was hiding his suit and then change in the bathroom so he wouldn’t scar the children.
