2025 Artfight isn't my best year ;o;

I don't know what to do with Artfight this year, and even for the future.

For the first time, I'm getting a good amounts of attacks (which is great, don't get me wrong!) but I'm feeling quite burnt out of all the revenges I have to do and I don't have motivation for attacks anymore. It makes me sad because I don't get to draw the characters I want (unfortunately several of the people who attacked me had no characters that I liked and I already had to force myself to draw stuff I really didn't enjoy several times ;-; ) and of course, I also don't get to attack and potentially get a revenge from the people I'd like.

Although I'm honored I'm getting attacks and I know not everyone has this luck - tbh the previous 3 years I participated I was among those who didn't get attacked - I'm starting to realize I'm not getting to enjoy Artfight as much as before because of the revenges I have to do. And the thing is, I don't want to drop revenges. That would be against my Artfight philosophy. My motto during Artfight is to treat people the way I'd want them to treat me, so, that means rewarding them for their efforts if they attack me, because I'd always prefer people I attack to revenge me. I can't expect people to revenge me if I'm not willing to revenge them, that would be hypocritical.

I don't know what to do honestly. I want Artfight to remain a fun event for me but this year it feels complicated. Do you guys have been in a similar situation? Do you have any tips on how I could enjoy the event again?

My only hope is that I feel like this because my personal and professional life are both busy right now (lots of work + we're getting married in August), which wasn't the case the other years. Hopefully next year will be calmer and I'll be able to shoot revenges and attacks like crazy without burning out...

I was bored and drew a random cat in a random style, and I liked it so I decided to color it! Frostdawn's colors were the only ones I could envision for her, so I guess I made a Frostdamn fanart lol.

Back when Iris passed away, I wanted to make a video for her but didn't find what to do. Now that Salem left too, ideas for a tribute to them - and to Freyja, our little survivor - came, and I made this.

Because today is the international day against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia, I thought this was a nice excuse to draw those cute gay cats and tell you to be nice to lgbt people.

Also I apologize for the lack of uploads, still recovering from Salem's passing and working on a special project.

Salem passed away too

Hey. I'm sorry for the lack of updates, I've been a little lazy on drawing on my free time. I'm unfortunately coming back to bring bad news: we lost another cat. If you don't want to read all this, it's fine, but please read the last paragraph of this post.

Some of you may remember when Iris passed away 7 months ago, and sadly, it was now Salem's turn to leave. He stopped eating on Tuesday evening, for which we brought him to the vet on Wednesday. He had a fever, so the vet gave him shots to calm the fever down, saying he would start eating again later in the evening. He didn't. Then Thursday was a national holiday, so we couldn't bring him back to the vet. On Friday morning, we called them as soon as it opened and asked for an emergency appointment because Salem was very weak and still not eating.

They took us in 30 minutes later, only to realize his skin and mouth were yellow, meaning his liver had stopped working.

They suspected two very serious illnesses but that both could be treated, however the chances he'd make it still seemed thin. After running several tests, they called us in the afternoon, asking us to come. It turned out the diagnosis was worse than what they thought; he had leucosis. From what I understood, this is an auto-immune illness like HIV, but unlike HIV it cannot be treated at all. There was close to no hope he could survive and even if he did, his immune system would stay down due to leucosis, so he was basically doomed to endure the same extreme situation anytime he'd fall sick, no matter how small the sickness.

It was hard, but we chose to let him go. We didn't want him to agonize for a few more days, alone at the clinic, only to die without us by his side. And we didn't want him to go through this again if he miraculously made it. It was best for him to leave peacefully in our arms. No more pain. No loneliness. Just love and cuddles.

Now, we'll have to go back to the vet in two weeks for Freyja. Leucosis is extremely contagious, cats contaminate each other through basically anything that comes from them: saliva, blood, urine, excrements, sperm, etc. Using the same litterbox and eating in the same bowl is enough to contaminate a healthy cat, and oh boy Freyja and Salem had no sense of property and kept using any litterbox and bowl they felt like using. We're honestly certain Freyja has leucosis too, and unfortunately there's no cure or treatment. If she has it, all we can hope is that the disease will stay dormant (like HIV, if it's dormant there's no effect, but as soon as it gets active it destroys the immune system and makes the cat unable to defend themselves against any kind of illness).

The vet also said it's very likely that Iris' mysterious death was due to leucosis. Apparently, it can be fulgurant. If the heart is targetted, death can happen in a few hours without any precursory symptom.

Today we cleaned and disinfected thoroughly all the litterboxes and bowls, just in case Freyja isn't infected. This is all very hard, losing two cats in under a year and knowing our only remaining cat is probably infected with such a serious disease is... rough. But we'll make sure to appreciate any second we got left with Freyja. Whether she leaves us next week or in 10 years, we'll make sure she has a wonderful time with us.

One last thing: Please, vaccinate your cat against leucosis yearly. The vaccine is very efficient and prevents cats from catching this contagious and deadly disease, but it needs to be administrated each year for it to keep working. Once a cat catches leucosis, there's no turning back. Please vaccinate them. I so wish we knew that before.

Little vent post.

I saw my YouTube channel description that I wrote when I was 15 where I said "I'm a young artist from France", and I realized that's it's not really true anymore. I'm 24, I'm still young in terms of life itself, but I'm not young anymore as an artist. I'm no longer "talented for my age". I'm no longer the impressive kid that adults would praise. And I'm finding more and more accounts belonging to less than 20 y.o. folks that post gorgeous art that I'll never be able to match.

I'll keep working to get better, but I needed to get this off my chest.

I'm glad I managed to keep up with making 1 fully fleshed out artwork per month so I have a nice art summary to show! November is by far the most simple, you can tell I took a toll with Iris' death. I really wasn't feeling like drawing.

I hope next year will be better. I've been struggling. Maybe I'll try to see a doctor.
