Don't "noo please not neil" or "the only man I trusted" it, that man is on tumblr because he loves the mass of adoring fans screaming about his genius. He is not a down to earth quirky blogger, he is the stereotype of asshole author that takes advantage of people blinded by his fame

The whole New Year's Wishes sequence in one place...
A decade ago, I wrote:
May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art – write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.
And almost half a decade ago I said,
...I hope you will have a wonderful year, that you’ll dream dangerously and outrageously, that you’ll make something that didn’t exist before you made it, that you will be loved and that you will be liked, and that you will have people to love and to like in return. And, most importantly (because I think there should be more kindness and more wisdom in the world right now), that you will, when you need to be, be wise, and that you will always be kind.
In 2011, my wish for each of us is small and very simple.
And it’s this.
I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.
So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it.
Make your mistakes, next year and forever.
Tumblr media
  And last year, I wrote:
It’s a New Year and with it comes a fresh opportunity to shape our world.
So this is my wish, a wish for me as much as it is a wish for you: in the world to come, let us be brave – let us walk into the dark without fear, and step into the unknown with smiles on our faces, even if we’re faking them.
And whatever happens to us, whatever we make, whatever we learn, let us take joy in it. We can find joy in the world if it’s joy we’re looking for, we can take joy in the act of creation.
So that is my wish for you, and for me. Bravery and joy.

Well thanks for that. Will be reread, shall not be lost. 🥹
Good Omens has shown us, among other things...
-Crowley pointing the paintball gun at Aziraphale and giving the office workers miraculous escapes from death *before* it showed us The Blitz, Part 2's Bullet Catch that shows us what he was referencing to Aziraphale by doing so
-Aziraphale's love of human magic and his vanishing coins act and Crowley grumbling about all of it *before* it showed us "the farthing has vanished!" and The Marvelous Mr. Fell and his "volunteer assistant" on stage in 1941
-The 1862 breakup *before* the 1827 scene that gives context for their traumas that led to the breakup
-The sexy lunch in 2008 *before* the ox rib date that started it-- all the way back in 2500 B.C..
-Crowley telling Aziraphale about his night dealing with the antichrist baby: "Well, not, delivered-delivered, just... handed it over" *before* professional midwife/cobbler Bildad the Shuite "birthing" Job and Sitis some "new" kids
-Crowley, alone, forced into the start of Armageddon by delivering the antichrist in a picnic basket *before* 1967, in which Aziraphale dreams of a world they could get to before they run out of time in which they could go on a picnic together
-Aziraphale looking to the side Crowley always comes up on when he hears the miracle sound in the sushi restaurant in 1.01 *before* we even know that Crowley always comes up in the same way from various scenes teaching us this
-Aziraphale's tartan obsession *before* its origin story, which is the date in Edinburgh in 1827 wherein he became spirituality Scottish and thought he lost Crowley and after which he adopted the tartan as a thing related to the two of them and never stopped wearing it. See also: showed us 1967 and the tartan thermos *before* explaining to us that the tartan isn't just something Aziraphale likes but is something with meaning to the two of them together as a pair
-Crowley rambling drunkenly about bananas, fish and gorillas in the bookshop *before* his and Aziraphale's 'banana fish gorilla shoelace with a dash of nutmeg' conversation over wine in 1941, showing us that he was drunkenly remembering in a scene in S1 a romantic scene in their history that we didn't know then and wouldn't know until S2
-Crowley & Aziraphale dining at The Ritz in 2008 in 1.01 *before* we even know that was The Ritz or why it matters that it was, which they don't tell us until the final, romantic moments of S1
-Crowley obsessively growing a large, lush, overhanging canopy of plants in his apartment *before* telling us he's got a thing for vavoom-y erotic gazing and kissing under the shelter of canopies the likes of which have never been seen in a Richard Curtis film
So, my dear, dear loves... explain to me why I'm not going to be adding to this list next season:
-that heartbreaking 2.06 kiss *before* the first one they had a bazillion years ago?

Fandoms grow together with us. They come when we need them. No one slips down into fandom when there is no need. There must be a need in escapism, escape from reality, simple pleasures of imagination and cosiness of love. Imaginary love is supportive. It is the Light that keeps us going through long winter nights. No one surrenders into fandoms while passionately in love, while in the brightness of summer. Fandom is a medicine. It is your vitamin D, it is your piece of cake to sit down and eat alone, near radiator, under a blanket, and melt, melt, melt.
When you are seventeen and you meet your first fandom, it is childish and infantile. So is you. Fan art is silly and amateur, stories are magical and fairytailish, and you accept all OOC's and AU's, it feels just right to fly away and carry on with fantasies.
When you are thirty seven and you meet your new fandom, it feels too real. You met this fandom before, in your twenties. But that was not the right time. Back then, this fandom seemed primitive, even boring, dry. Oh you have met it once more, in early 30s, but then you had so much going on in RL, there was zero interest in fandoms. You smiled at it softly, and passed by.
Now, with 20 years of fandom knowledge, with a half of life lived, you meet this one again. Yes, it is bitter and sometimes dry, and it feels just right. It is screaming of love and loneliness, and miscommunication, it is essentially magical, but all magic is sort of lost. As in you. It is full of fear of paperwork. So is you. Fan art is so professional and beautiful, breathtaking. Stories are written by real Writers, so in character, richest and juiciest narrative you remember reading. This is because people in this fandom are not 17 years old, dear, none of the children are here. This fandom is for grownups, the ones like you, and what they do here is filled with professionalism, quality, and respect to the original authors.
This makes me feel love, so much love in the air (which is a digital screen). I just want to say thank you to no one in particular on Tumblr, for existing. For not stealing my account and password. After twenty years, I feel alive again, like back then I was swimming deep into my first fandoms, and it feels glorious. No real human relationship, job, food, music, parenthood, never gave me this feeling of being comforted and wrapped into a special bubble, feeling of being alone with my secret attachment, but yet belonging to a society, yes, the feeling of excitement and belonging, and, strangely, hope. I am very grateful. My panic attacks and anxiety are gone. I am breathing again. It is pathetic to come back to where I started, but life is so much easier and better if there is a fandom.
