as someone who was a staunch defender of the player character update i do have to say i really do feel a bit betrayed that even a whole 2 years later sso has failed to branch out with additional body types or really any afro textured hairs despite having such promising concept art. the update was a step in the right direction but its so disheartening when they don’t deliver

Is camp western ever coming back? I thought it'd be in July but I don't see it in the roadmap, so probably not July at least. I might be a messed up minority but I really enjoyed camp western. Or maybe it's just been long enough that I think I liked it, Idk, the only way to figure that out would be to bring back camp western :(((((

HGS ReShade presets for SSO

Five atmospheric ReShade presets made by yours truly.

Late Summer

The basic one, works well almost everywhere. More natural looking greenery with a little bit of fog.

Playability: Fully playable. Adjustable for better performance*.

Enchanted

The forests are now blue, what else is there to say. Works best in denser woods where the sky is covered.

Playability: Limited, high performance cost and only looks good in certain areas. Notes: Palomino and buckskin horses may look a bit green. Does not work well in Goldenhills. The sky is blindingly bright if not covered.

Autumn

Almost the same as Late Summer but with lovely orange hues.

Playability: Fully playable. Adjustable for better performance*. Notes: In areas with blue fog, like Mistfall and Wildwoods, distant terrain will look green.

Silent Hill

Foggy and gloomy. Originally designed to work in Jarlaheim and Silverglade but looks surprisingly nice almost everywhere.

Playability: Limited, high performance cost and you can barely see in front of you.

Pandoric Rift

Everything is aggressively purple. A bit rough around the edges but you should be able to get goodish photos with a some elbow grease and editing.

Playability: Limited, high performance cost. Notes: I'm not sure if it's possible to make the grass-ground transition look natural, if someone figures out a solution please let me know. Palomino and buckskin horses may look a bit green.

To use ReShade presets, you first need to install ReShade. I recommend this tutorial:

Once ReShade is installed, you need to move the unzipped presets into the same folder you installed ReShade in. In Windows it should be: C:\Program Files\Star Stable Online\client

You should then be able to find and select the presets from the in-game menu.

My dear friend, have you mayhaps considered that horses and ponies (most of the time) look similar? It's not all major recognizable unique features (like the arabians or jorvik wilds), some of them just look like ponies and horses.

(the folks crying about gen3 horses looking similar would've had an aneurysm at the sight of most gen1 horse breeds just being different colors lmao)

Hi! Here's a little painting of Dakota/Dalka that I did to better see her in my head :) (and to practice gouache some more)

I'm rethinking her whole story and character, and the only few things that I haven't changed are the fact that she lives in Valedale and her eye color. I also renamed her to Dalka, because that feels nicer to say and it fits her better. (can't wait to be able to change name in game)

Here's a few other facts I have about her so far! -she's great friends with Beatrix, and they spend a lot of time at the Fort Maria library reading, like a very small book club -archery,,, hell yeah -she will give a different answer every time when asked about her career/education -she's big on foraging and knows all the best spots for wild berries and mushrooms -she's 182cm tall

@gladewood made the post about stereotypical alien magic horses and here they are!

The crashed UFO behind the Everwind oil field? Theirs. It's hard to maneuver anything with hooves, let alone a space ship.

They tried to rob James, but again, it's hard to fire a laser without opposable thumbs.

Traditional ways of mayhem might be out of the question, but there's many ways to wreak havoc as a green creature with hooves.
