Something I think ppl who aren't used to it struggle with when it comes to ancient history is that frequently 'we do not and cannot know this' is the only truthful response a historian can give. People severely overestimate how much we actually know about Ancient Rome.
I remember talking to someone at a party once about the debate over Septimius Severus's ethnicity (whole other can of worms) and they asked if genetic testing of his remains was not a way to settle it and I was like oh. Oh okay you are under the impression we have the physical remains of Roman emperors from the second century AD alright then. (We. Do not.)

RPG about/inspired by German Landsknechte where your clothing grants equipment bonuses based purely on what colour it is. A red tunic grants different bonuses from a blue tunic, which grants different bonuses from a yellow tunic, and so forth; there'd be different sets of colour-based bonuses for pantaloons, gloves, hats, etc. Striped, slashed, particolour, etc. garments would offer hybrid bonuses based on the specific combinations of colours involved (and potentially even those colours' locations; e.g., a tunic with two differently coloured sleeves which grants different bonuses to each arm) to further fine-tune your build. Basically, what I am describing is a game where you have a concrete mechanical incentive to dress like this:

Finished product first: we needed a new feast gear basket since our original one (seen on the right) was slowly breaking down. I ordered a new basket and decided to make my own leather handles for it so we wouldn't be constantly grabbing and stressing the rim.

When I received it, i did a test fit to make sure all our stuff would still fit since it's smaller than our original basket. This has two ceramic plates, two wood bowls, two e-ware ceramic cups, two linen napkins, two placemats, two wax cup covers, two horn spoons, two twisted iron forks, two jarred candles and a deck of playing cards in a sprang bag inside it. Pretty darn packed full. I then immediately busted out my airbrush and a can of red mahogany stain because I wasn't fond of the natural color. After that dried I hit it with some matte polyurethane.

Tonight I then cut a utility hide down into two 42" straps and one 28" strap, and a small square piece for the underside. I sewed the bottom of the long straps to the square piece, and then riveted on the horizontal strap to keep the handles equidistant apart.

I really like wicker baskets with leather straps. Seems to be the general vibe of our gear now.

Get yourself a fabric store that will light your fabric on fire for you
No but legit I asked what the fiber content of something was and the guy didn’t know so he cut a chunk off and lit it on fire and felt the ashes and was like. Yeah this is mostly cotton with a lil bit of silk. And that was the moment I knew. This is it. This is the fabric store for me. Also that guy is marriage material. Not for me but damn some person is gonna be so happy with him.

some of you need to make your bed and have a shower with a soap that smells nice, and then sit in a chair near the window and have tea with milk and read a hardcover book and see how your creative block is after that tbh.
