Haunted by the Past

Shattered trust, a heart in pain,

Forgiveness granted, but scars remain.

She stays, though doubts cloud her mind,

Hoping love's strength will help her find,

The path to healing, to move beyond,

The shadows cast by a bond once fond.

But every trigger, every sign,

Rips open wounds that refuse to mend in time.

The past, a ghost that haunts her days,

Whispering doubts, casting dark haze.

She fights to trust, to let go of fear,

Yet the trauma lingers, ever so near.

In his arms, she seeks solace and peace,

But the ache inside refuses to cease.

Trapped in a cycle of pain and doubt,

She wonders if love can truly break out,

From the chains of the past, the scars it left,

A heart once whole, now forever bereft.

Yet she holds on, her love a beacon bright,

Hoping for the day when the pain takes flight.

Why must I silence the truth within?

Why must I bear the weight of this sin?

I long for your comfort, your understanding, your care,

But instead, I'm left with this burden to bear.

Holding on to hurt.

Silence creeps in, a heavy veil

Shrouding the truth, the pain I conceal

I shared my heart, my deepest fears

But instead of solace, I faced bitter tears.

Your words cut deep, a blade so fine

"You shouldn't feel that way, it's not divine"

Blame and anger, a toxic brew

I'm left to drown, with no one to renew.

The night descends, tears fall like rain

I'm lost and alone, with no escape from the pain

I'm hurt and unheard, yet I blame myself too

For having a heart that still beats for you.

l hate the soft spot that I hold so dear

The love that lingers, the tears that appear

I hate that I can't hate, that I can't be strong

That I'm always apologizing, all wrong.

I hate the way I'm trapped in this cycle of pain

The self-blame, the guilt, the shame that remains.

I hate that I can't fight for myself, that I am weak.

But most of all, I hate the love that I still seek.

The tears dried up, and the silence remained,

A heavy blanket that wrapped around my heart and brain.

I knew I had to find a way to break the chain,

To free myself from the cycle of pain and shame.

Love's ember burns bright, igniting the heart,

A spark that draws two souls never to part.

Yet love alone cannot sustain the fire,

More than passion's flame must be the desire.

Compatibility, the silent partner in life,

Steadies the course through joy and strife.

Shared values, the compass that guides the way,

Ensuring love's light never fades away.

For a love to last, to weather the years,

Needs understanding to calm the fears.

Laughter shared, and tears wiped away,

Forge the bond that will not sway.

So let love be the ember, glowing ever true,

But know that for it to thrive, more must ensue.

Compatibility, the silent strength that endures,

Ensures love's ember forever allures.

Love is necessary, but not sufficient on its own. Successful long-term relationships require compatibility, shared values, and a willingness from both partners to work through challenges together.
