Help urgently needed!!
*URGENT: PLEASE READ/SIGNAL BOOST*
Thursday, November 19th: Hi everyone, I’m Gemma, a bi, mentally ill disaster, who’s in desperate need of help, as I'm struggling to pay my late bills and rent.
As most of you are already aware, I have been struggling financially for quite some time due to my welfare benefits being revoked, under the UK’s controversial changes to how benefits are assessed and assigned. And due to my mental health and some unfortunate DWP mess-ups, my benefits have been on and off sanctions for the past year.
And earlier in the year, I attended a medical assessment for my U.C benefit, the results stated that I have a limited capability for work due to my chronic depression and extreme fatigue. I've also recently applied for PIP, and I am awaiting the outcome of the application (Feb 2021 at the latest)
Also, as many of you guys know, my dog, Luna, was attacked last month by another. She is doing incredibly well and has made an excellent recovery, however its been really stressful and the vet expenses have left me avoiding other bills that are now overdue!
If anyone could spare any amount to help me, even if it’s just £1/$1/€1, it would literally save my life, and sharing definitely helps just as much as donations. Nobody is obligated in any way to donate if they can’t or don’t want to, I know we’re all struggling right now.
Thank you for your help! ♥️

hey there, the uk government is trying its hardest to make it practically impossible for trans people to transition, here’s a twitter thread and two carrds that further explain the situation (click on the underlined parts for links)
+ only if you are a british citizen or a uk resident please sign this petition that will help reform the Gender Recognition Act to allow trans people to self id w/out need for a medical diagnosis and to allow nonbinary identities to be legally recognized.
if you are NOT a british citizen/live in the uk DO NOT sign the petition as the goverment will use invalid signatures as an excuse to dismiss the petition and the GRA will not be discussed in parliment.
please spread this post, time for trans people in the uk is very quickly running out

evictions will begin again in NYC in about a month, and this will leave many people and families homeless, which in the heart of this country's epidemic could be a death sentence. shelters are already overcrowded as it is.
please donate to the NYC Eviction Fund started by Esteban Martinez here:
many cities are also about to be facing a mass eviction crisis. one way to help is donate to or start mutual aid funds like this specifically for eviction prevention in your city. housing is a human right!

Help urgently needed!!
*URGENT: PLEASE READ/SIGNAL BOOST*
Thursday, July 16th: Hi everyone, I’m Gemma, a bi, mentally ill disaster, who’s in desperate need of help, as I'm still struggling to pay my late bills and fees.
However, despite this, my benefits were suspended without warning or explanation. I appealed against my benefit suspension, and a while ago I received my reinstated U.C payment, however, due to being in such heavy debt, it was taken immediately by my overdrawn account and late bills.
To be quite honest, these past few months have been absolute hell for me, and with no income, I’ve been relying on the kindness of others to get by. However, due to quite a lot of late bills, fees and rent to be paid, it’s been difficult for me to stay out of debt and it just keeps building up. My goal to pay off my remaining debts and to get a month's groceries is £200
If anyone could spare any amount to help me, even if it’s just £1/$1/€1, it would literally save my life, and sharing definitely helps just as much as donations. Nobody is obligated in any way to donate if they can’t or don’t want to, I know we’re all struggling right now.
Thank you for your help! ♥️

Most of the medical research was done on white males and their response to medicine. This is why medical books should only serve as a framework but clinical expertise matters more.
And this is why we need more black doctors.

Kind reminders for students
It’s okay to take breaks and rest.
Summer holidays are holidays. They should be used as such, as moments of rest, to get a good start in the new school year. It doesn’t matter if all the time you have available is not spent reading your textbooks or learning new skills. Just enjoy the sunlight, the warmth, the endless summer evenings. Take time for yourself.
It’s okay to be tired or feel low from time to time.
It is normal to feel overwhelmed by studying. It’s normal to feel tired, to lack motivation, to forget, sometimes, why you set out on a journey. You will inevitably go through empty periods during your schooling; and you will experience periods of peace and satisfaction - it is a cycle that everyone goes through, more or less visibly. If you feel anxious, stressed, sad, do your best to hold on. Talk to someone you trust, don’t be afraid to express your doubts or fears. Communicating and sharing helps to relieve the weight of your fears, to calm you down, to reach a period of calm more quickly.
You are your own best friend.
Get to know yourself. Appreciate your strengths, recognize your weaknesses - do your best to take advantage of both. When you know yourself well, you also learn to respect your own limits, to manage your efforts, and to love yourself. Never forget that, no matter what happens, you will always be able to rely on yourself and your strengths. Discover your qualities, appreciate them. Trust the compliments of others and the love they give you. If someone decides to love and support you, it is because you deserve it: trust the intelligence of people and their ability to make decisions for themselves.
It’s okay to have limits.
Don’t set yourself too busy a schedule, or too many different tasks. You have the right to have limits and to demand that they be respected: you are not forced to engage in something that is beyond your abilities. Be as reasonable and gentle as possible with yourself: keep in mind that you are always doing your best, and that if you cannot do everything, it is not out of ill will, but simply because it is not yet the right time, the right occasion to seize certain opportunities. It’s okay to take your time, it’s okay not to be ready to engage in something if that something seems to be too much for you, even if people expect you to do it.
You are not alone / others are not your ennemies.
The others are no threat to you. No one is working to take your place, everyone is working to create their own place in the world. That is why it is beneficial to work with others and accept their help when you need it. Especially since it is in work, and therefore in times of difficulty and adversity, that you will develop strong and solid bonds with others. This is also why comparison is not useful: your academic studies are not a competition per se, but a path that you travel with your peers. Admiration, on the other hand, will take you further: try to understand what you admire in people, to take them as an example. Let yourself be admired by others because, whoever you are, whatever you do, someone will admire one of your qualities or your efforts. Trust me on that.
You are the source of your own success.
You deserve to be congratulated. You deserve to be recognized and rewarded for your efforts. You are responsible for the fruits of your labour. Of course, everyone relies on friends, on family, on teachers, to advance and progress: others have contributed to success. It is normal, and even healthy, to be aware and grateful for the participation of those around you in your progress. But you are the central, crucial element, without which you would not have achieved your goal. You owe your success only to yourself in the end. You deserve to be proud of yourself. You deserve to be kind to yourself, to treat yourself, to reward yourself for the efforts you make. You do your best. And being proud of yourself doesn’t make you self-centred or narcissistic: that’s perfectly normal and justified.

(Old pictures)
Not a very academically productive day, but I had a good conversation with my mom and some friends about current events. My relationship with my mom is becoming better with every conversation, so I think that that’s productive!
Finished the stats note I started yesterday, did the stats tutorial and completed the weekly quiz. Started a circuits assignment due at the end of this week.
