It takes generating 25 images to use the equivalent energy of 1 hour of streaming video. Language generation is magnitudes less energy intensive than image generation. ~1%of energy generated in the US is dedicated to streaming video. ~1% is used by AI. Real Human Made Slop is just as destructive as computer made slop. Do you really need to watch that 4 hour "video essay"? Your Netflix binge is just as harmful as the computer making pictures or writing words.

Typical data centers do much more than just stream video too. This isn't an AI problem, it's a data centre problem lol. You're telling me that somehow an industry that uses ~1% of power is actually inherently more polluting and resource intensive per kWh than the rest of the worlds data centres? Do you believe they use different water and energy to do AI versus everything else?
