Chase glances down towards his phone, shamelessly swiping right with the occasional swipe left. Maybe he should have been paying more attention to where he was going but the few drinks he had at the bar down the street had only one thing on his mind. At least… Until something hard prevented him from walking further. He glances down to find the woman already bending down to pick up her phone, his arm dropping down to his side as he parts his lips to spill out his own apology until her eyes met his. It’s almost like someone punched him in the stomach since he was finding it impossible to catch his breath. “Eva?”

With her name leaving his lips, she felt like she was unable to speak. Her mouth grew dry, tongue swelling in her mouth as she started at him. Eva blinked a few times, making sure that she wasn’t she wasn’t seeing things. “I-” she started, closing her mouth as her tongue swept across her lips. “Chase,” she breathed his name, “Wow, I uh,” she had so much explaining to do, something she had not rehearsed a single day in her life, considering she never thought she would have to see him again. “hi,” she finally settled on, knowing it was far from what he wanted to hear.

“Okay, so what are we baking tonight?” She turned Jayesh as she looked at the hoard of ingredients they had gathered from the store. “I need to tune up on my baking skills,” though it wasn’t exactly Bluestem’s speciality, it was something that was an interest to Eva. Especially when she planned to one day own her own restaurant, she wanted a little bit of everything, including pastries. “Teach me something new, tonight?”

“Okay, I promise, I won’t keep you away from work for too long,” Eva told Levi as she approached with a platter of food. “But I need literally anyone’s point of view on this new dish I’ve been working on,” it wasn’t anything entire special, at least not to anyone else. “It’s pancakes, Russian pancakes,” and she told Levi as she set the plate town, “it’s my grandmother’s recipe,” Eva continued to explain, sitting down across from him. “I’ve got ones with chocolate, blueberries or a raspberry lemon.”

It was later in the evening but not quite closing time when Eva exited Bluestem after her shift. She was exhausted from being on her feet all day but there was nothing that she loved more than being a chef. It was practically in her blood since the day she was old enough to hold any kitchen utensils. As she stepped out of the building, she walked straight into someone else. “Oh, shit,” Eva cursed, dropping her phone that she was looking at. It hit the sidewalk and the cracking noise had her fearing that the screen was cracked. Bending down, she picked up the phone to see the damages, letting out a sigh before she parted her lips to apologize to the other person. “I’m so -” Eva looked up, making eye contact with the one person she thought she would literally never see again.

BIOGRAPHY NOTES ( death mention ) 

was born in saint petersburg russia, but moved to san francisco with her parent’s when she was six months old 

her mother was a nurse and her father was a police officer growing up, she also was an only child so she was very close to both of her parents.

eva grew up being shy, but also incredibly friendly once people broke through to her. while she wasn’t the first to approach people, she always made friends if they came to her first, which also got better with age. 

she grew up with very supportive parents and any of her friends were considered family. 

she learned to cook from her mother and kept recipe books handwritten by her mother and grandmother and she still has them to this day and replicates the recipes for her own meals and those she makes for others 

she didn’t go to traditional college and went to culinary school in san francisco. 

when she was 22 years old she got married in vegas and has never seen him since. she left the morning after when she found out her father had passed away in the line of duty. 

eva is a chef at bluestem currently, but has worked at many restaurants around the city.
