long time shy fan but... would you be willing to do a "best of pink" analysis of the outfits for the met gala? I love pink and there are just so many of them this year! Would love your thoughts on which were the prettiest!!
Personally I feel like anyone who wasn't wearing black & white got a little lost in amongst the noise. However they're a few who did look really pretty in pink and that includes those who showed up looking like it was the Oscars rather than the Met Gala.
1. Ashley Graham wearing Harris Reed
This look almost made it into my top 10 but because I wasn't feeling it from the theme perspective it missed out. However I thought Ashley killed it with her over the top gown that made her figure look even more stunning.
2. Naomi Campbell wearing Chanel
I loved the colour on Naomi and I love how the pink satin draped effortlessly down her shoulder and blended naturally as a skirt. Plus the silver swirls added something extra that made the gown shine. At the end of the day it's Naomi Campbell and she can even make a trash bag look amazing on her.
3. Quannah Chasinghorse wearing Prabal Gurung
Quannah looked phenomenal last year and she looked phenomenal again this year wearing pink. You can tell that despite the overall feminine and fairytale look you can still see that Quannah is sticking to her Indigenous heritage through her hair and makeup. Harpers Bazaar did an interview with whilst she got ready for the gala and it's a fascinating read as it covers her reasons behind her 2023 Met Gala look.

Met Gala 2023: My Top 5 Men’s Looks
I’ve had a few messages asking for my favourite men’s look from the Met Gala 2023, despite the fact I wasn’t overly enamoured by what I saw from the men this year. So I thought I’d share with you all my top 5 men’s looks as there were a few that I did like even though I feel like the women shined a lot brighter when it came to their outfits.
Like before this post is just my opinions on fashion, it’s not absolute and you’re all welcome to either agree or disagree with me.
1. Conan Gray wearing Balmain
I won’t lie. I roasted Conan for his 2022 Met Gala look so I was really surprised to see he had stepped it up with this amazing outfit from Balmain. Every time I look at it I fall more in love with it because it’s both masculine and feminine from head to toe. Plus I love how the pearls are placed throughout his outfit as well the fan that just adds that touch of flamboyance thats needed for an outstanding Met Gala look.
2. Brian Tyree Henry wearing Karl Largerfield
Just like Conan, Brian nailed his look which was obviously helped by the fact he was wearing an outfit from the late designer. Regardless though, I felt it suited Brian to tee even with the large ruffle coat that oddly didn’t overwhelm him nor did it detract from twist on an the classic men’s suit thats become a trend in recent years.
3. Eddie Redmayne wearing Alexander McQueen
Eddie seems to be a spokesperson for the McQueen brand these days as I don’t think I’ve ever seen him wear another designer when it comes to public events. The suit itself is a classic suit but I love the silver broaches and how they are placed from shoulder to shoulder with a drop on his chest and connected by chains. It looks like expensive raindrops and I love it. Also I love Hannah's classic McQueen gown, they compliment each other perfectly.
4. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs wearing Sean John
Whilst I’m not a fan of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs I can’t help but love his look, even if it’s from his own fashion house. The look compliments the theme perfectly whilst still being a haute couture look that you can tell is more about Sean than Karl Lagerfield. Overall it screams modern vampire who’s there to steal the limelight (and probably your blood) and I’m honestly here for it.
5. Pedro Pascal wearing Valentino
I don’t know why but I really love the whole look on Pedro. Perhaps it’s the vibrant red that just like Salma Hayek’s gown, was actually palette cleanser from all the black & white that graced the stairs of the Met Gala. Or perhaps it’s because Pedro is killing it in The Last of Us as well as The Mandalorian and is the internet’s heartthrob. All in all I can’t not love this look and it just goes to show that he can wear anything and still look handsome.

Gonna be petty and say that the one look I felt really missed the mark with the theme was Amanda Seyfried. Karl Lagerfield did do revealing looks and looks with lots of sparkle and jewellery (eg the Chanel bridal swimsuit from 2019), but they were always refined and classy, and Amanda Seyfrieds look isnt. It looks too much like a generic party dress and it sticks out from the other looks of the night that have much more tailored details.
Also I think Margaret Qualley and Jennie both pulled off short dresses much better, they really felt like couture looks. Plus I adore the matching details in Jennie's outfit: the flowers, the black velvet choker + belt + gloves, the scallop at the neckline and hem of the skirt. So gorgeous and she looks incredible in it, definitely my favourite look.
100%. I saw Amanda's dress and I couldn't believe what I was looking at as it just looked tacky from head to toe. It didn't fit the theme nor did it look good as substandard evening wear that always plague's the Met Gala every single year. Margaret Qualley and Jennie both looked cute in their short dresses, however in my honest opinion both looks could easily pass as casual looks which I don't think have a place at the Met Gala. For anyone who hasn't seen any of these looks (because I missed them off for a reason) here they are:
Amanda Seyfried wearing Oscar De La Renta
Jennie wearing Chanel
Margaret Qualley wearing Chanel

Met Gala 2023: My Top 10 Women’s Looks
Here we go, this is my 10 women’s looks from the Met Gala 2023. Just to remind everyone that my opinions are mine alone, so feel free to agree or disagree with me as much as you like. However I will not tolerate any hate personally aimed at me if you disagree with me to the point where you want to start an argument.
So let’s keep it respectful, clean (language wise) and more importantly let’s have some fun with this. Like I said, if you’re looking for an argument, then you’re following the wrong fashion blog.
1. Kim Kardashian wearing Schiaparelli.
This was the first look I saw this morning when I switched my phone on and I was blown away by it. I honestly didn’t know what to expect from Kim after her look from last year that got a lot of people talking. So I was pleasantly surprised to see her in an original design that shows off her body in all the right places and I love the draped pearls across her breasts (which are actually covered by a nude bra). Overall it was another Met Gala and another show stopping moment from Kim Kardashian.
2. Doja Cat wearing Oscar De La Renta
In comparison to Jared Leto, Doja Cat understood the theme and took it to a whole other level that was both unexpected but not at the same time. I loved the use of prosthetics that complimented her simple yet stunning crystallised gown. Plus who doesn’t love a gown with a hood that has cat ears coming out the top that makes you look like a fashionista rather than someone attending a Halloween party?
3. Gigi Hadid wearing Givenchy
I’m a sucker for a black gown that comes not just with a corset but a lot of tulle draped perfectly in all the right places as well. Gigi just looked stunning in this and considering a lot of attendee’s were also wearing either black or white, her Givenchy gown stood out when I was scrolling endlessly through all the looks earlier today. Simple, yet perfect sums up her look that I couldn't not add to my top 10 favourites.
4. Cardi B wearing Chenpeng Studio
I just loved the edgy yet alternative bridal look that also incorporated a masculine energy through the shirt and tie design blended with a corset that still made the overall gown look and feel feminine as well as beautiful. I’m not a fan of Cardi B as a rapper but like Kim Kardashian her Met Gala looks have never disappointed and I think this look was one of her best yet.
5. Devon Aoki wearing Jeremy Scott
Even though it’s yet another black & white gown, I just love the cartoon styled wings on the bust line of the corset. To me it made this gown stand out in the sea on monochrome that plagued the Met Gala 2023. Without that unique design, this gown would’ve gone unnoticed and it would’ve easily become another gown that was worn to the wrong event.
6. Florence Pugh in Valentino
Florence has been killing it with her red carpet looks in the last 18 months or so, so it was no surprise that she would turn heads at the Met Gala. Whilst I'm not a fan of Valentino since Pierpaolo Piccioli took over as creative designer when Maria Grazi Chiuri left for Dior back in 2016, I can’t help but love this look. A simple white gown paired with a huge feather crown just looked stunning on Florence and it’s another reason why we love seeing show stopping numbers like this one.
7. Glenn Close wearing Erdem Moralıoğlu
Similar to Florence Pugh’s look, Glenn Close just looked phenomenal in her Erdem Moralıoğlu design. Once again it was simple yet stunning and I loved the colour on her. It suited her to a tee and what better way to pair a simple gown that with a huge pale blue cape and the sparkliest jewellery of the night. It just goes to show that anyone of any age and can look amazing when dressed perfectly for the Met Gala.
8. Liu Wen wearing Tory Burch
I just love how simple the gown is yet at the bottom it’s filled with white flowers that make the Tory Burch gown stand out amongst hundreds of Met Gala looks. The whole look screams red carpet but it’s also the ideal gown for a bride who doesn’t want to wear white to her wedding. Liu Wen just looked stunning in it and it’s why her look has made it into my top 10.
9. Salma Hayek wearing Gucci
I just love that it wasn’t black or white and the sharpness of the red looked phenomenal on Salma both in the PVC corset and the long tiered skirt. Plus the subtle draping of the pearls as straps just topped the look off altogether. Once again I loved everything about it and I can’t fault it at all. It was perfect.
10. Tems wearing Robert Wun
This gown was a standout for all the right reasons. Tems looked absolutely gorgeous from head to toe and I love how all the feathers are perfectly placed on both the gown, the gloves and the headpiece from stepping over that line from haute couture into a costume. The shape of the gown also compliments her body to her a tee and I couldn’t think of anything better that Tem’s could’ve worn to the Met Gala.
So this concludes my top 10 looks from the Met Gala 2023. I have to say picking this list was hard because there were so many another amazing designs worn last night, however these 10 stand out to me the most. Feel free to leave your opinion in the comments about which was your standout garment from last night, perhaps it’s on my list and perhaps it’s not.
I look forward to hearing what you all have to say about this year’s fashion.

about the met gala...
https://www.tumblr.com/fiapple/716163774897405952/why-is-the-met-gala-honoring-an-islamophobe-with
i hope that you at least see this, since, given how ive read that previous years had people not doing great to honour the theme... your recent post brings me concern over why there were more good outfits this year than others.
Thank you for bringing this to my inbox. I already knew he was a horrible person alongside a few other designers from his era of fashion. It was also incredibly tone deaf of Anna Wintour to think that a theme honouring him was the best option for the Met Gala when she could've celebrated anyone else. That in itself is inexcusable, hence why when it comes to my top 10 look lists I'll be looking at the fashion rather than the meaning behind it and its connection to the theme. Let's hope the Met Gala 2024 theme is something that doesn't revolve around a late fashion designer who doesn't care who he insults because of who he dresses with his designs etc.
